A quick switch back to yesterday's discussion re: Tad Devine. I had completely forgotten about this, probably because so much crazy stuff has happened in the last few years. But I remember at the time board consensus was that there was no way it was an accident.

I'm old enough to remember when Tad Devine claimed staffers had "accidentally" conducted 25 targeted searches of Clinton's voter data.
Hey, just because he's a Russia-linked former Bernie staffer and appears on Mueller's evidence list for the Manafort trial, don't read into that
Yeah, Twitter is full of walks down memory lane today. Someone on Twitter linked to this article from May 2016, about how the FEC had noticed that Bernie was getting an overwhelming number of suspicious donations, including a lot of foreigners.
Seriously. I know there are differences but it feels similar in spirit to when that Illinois governor tried to sell Obama’s former Senate seat. How is one OK and not the other?
Coincidentally he’s on Trump’s list of potential pardons. Gee I wonder why.

It's all so insane. I remember feeling a bit crazy at the time for being so suspicious but there's just too much going on for it all to just be coincidence.

Yes, I remember having discussions on here if we were becoming crazy left wing conspiracy theorists.

TPM
Maggie Haberman was just on CNN and went farther than her co-bylined New York Times bombshell that Michael Cohen secretly taped Donald Trump discussing payments to Playboy model Karen McDougal, with whom he allegedly had an affair.
She explained that Trump and Cohen were allegedly talking about both payments from AMI to McDougal, as well as another potential payment from Trump to McDougal, via Cohen.
The biggest thing we learned from this is that there is a brief recording of Michael Cohen talking to Donald Trump. Michael Cohen was at that time Donald Trump’s personal lawyer. Donald Trump was not the president yet, and they are discussing some details related to payments by AMI, which owns the National Enquirer, to Karen McDougal, a woman who had alleged that she had an affair, with not candidate yet Donald Trump. And this conversation had something to do with making an additional payment from Mr. Cohen to Karen McDougal. His lawyer Rudy Giuliani told us that he had on the recording apparently instructed that it be done by check, so that it was done properly, as opposed to cash, that payment we understand was not made.
Again, the original version of the NYT story wasn’t clear on that point: that the recorded conversation was a discussion of the AMI payment.
If that’s correct, and there’s no reason to think it’s not, then it puts into play a couple of additional legal and political perils for Trump:
1 It recasts the Trump camp’s repeated denial that it knew about payments to McDougal. 2 It also makes it look much more like the Trump camp was colluding with AMI — something we’ve suspected, but for which there has not been solid evidence. Until today.
They are vile human beings, but can we not do this?
I’m really sorry, I deleted. It seems dumb to try & explain now, but I really wasn’t at all thinking re: their physical looks, rather- their horrid personalities & conspiratorial gaze at one another as rationalization for opposite of Viagra. Truly. AND it also seems pointless to continue to talk about it on a ‘fun’ news Friday, I just really wanted to explain my intentions had absolutely nothing to do with their physical looks, dumb as that sounds.
You know what is making me wild? Now we know that McConnell and Reid knew about this shit, as did a whole bunch of other senators (and maybe people in the house?). The entire intelligence community knew about this shit. And Hillary Clinton spent her campaign insisting that the Russians were behind the hacking and Trump was a puppet, and when the press bothered to cover it, it was to express skepticism about the allegations. The woman had been the Secretary of State, she knew a Russian puppet when she saw one. And nobody paid attention or validated her.
The Washington Post is out with its own story on the secret Michael Cohen recording of then-GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, and it offers a different account of what the two men were discussing:
In the September 2016 conversation, Cohen and Trump were discussing a plan by Cohen to attempt to purchase the rights to McDougal’s story from AMI for roughly $150,000, according to one person familiar with recording.
----
SO if that's the case, then Trump & Co are reimbursing AMI for the "hush money" payment to keep the story from being printed??

I was posting about the Tad Devine thing in a secret FB group and already had 2 Berners say "well, let's wait and see" about it. They are going to be just as bad as the MAGAts.
If the country is going to go down in flames, I hope Bernie does too. It is becoming increasingly obvious that people on his campaign had connections with the Trump campaign/Russia, and maybe him too.
I cannot imagine what Hillary is feeling right now, watching this all go down. If it comes out that Bernie was also colluding with Russia, I will scream from the top of my lungs that the presidency was stolen from her by a foreign country.

But what about the emails, the audio tapes, videos, Trump’s own words, etc., etc., etc.?
Really, what more do people need/want with all the scandals of this presidency? Or, do they not care and they’re just ready to start buying Trump’s MRGA hats that will be made in China?

After the Ossoff election, there was a lot of noise about it being a rigged election. There was a guy with a very convincing PowerPoint, but I decided it was too tin foil hat even for me. Now I’m over here yelling to anyone who will listen how our elections were hacked.
You know what’s going to get us all even more pissed? When there is a blue wave and the GOP all of a sudden jump on the Russia bandwagon, claiming they rigged it for the dems. Just wait.
Kristin Davis, the Manhattan Madam who went to prison and was connected to Eliot Spitzer, has reportedly been subpoenaed by Robert Mueller, according to TMZ. Davis worked for former Trump aide Roger Stone for a decade.

I'm not sure we should trust anything that TMZ reports.
Really? I thought they were pretty accurate.
FWIW I picked this up after a RT from Kyle Griffin of MSNBC.
I saw it also, but refuse to share it until I see/hear from another source. And I haven’t seen that yet, but I’ve been LOOKING because I want to share it! Lol

And if it's true, I also wouldn't read too much into it. Roger Stone is probably my number 1 bet for an American indictment. If she worked for Stone for ten years, she probably has tons of info on him and it likely has nothing to do with Spitzer.

I think Stone has flipped on Manafort and probably a few dozen others. They go WAY back (like, to the 80's) as partners in a lobbying firm. I think the reason Manafort hasn't flipped is because stone did first.
And incidentally MuckRock released 285k of Manafort's tweets today. They had been hacked by WikiLeaks but WL didn't release them. Some of them are horrifying.
