2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? First tri exhaustion is kicking my ass. It's soooo much harder with a toddler. Anytime I sat/laid down this weekend DS (23 months) would come grab my hand and say "mama, play?". It was exhausting.
3. Questions for the group? nope
4. Did you or will you have any sort of public/social media/picture announcement?Share if you're willing! If all goes well I'll be 12 weeks the week of Thanksgiving, so maybe then, but I'm considering waiting and announcing it on our holiday cards instead. We'll see! I haven't come up with any clever way to do it, yet.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I started leaking colostrum this week. 😳 Although I spoke with one of the LCs at work, and she said I'll likely need to wean off my allergy med about a month before my due date, and proactively start pumping a couple weeks before.
3. Questions for the group? Nah.
4. Did you or will you have any sort of public/social media/picture announcement? Share if you're willing!
We already had NIPT results, so it said something like "E is happy to announce his baby BROTHER is due in March!"
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Third tri on Thursday! How did that happen?? I have a growth scan on Thursday and my 1 hr GD test on Friday. I’m getting really nervous about the GD test, and I’m really afraid that I’m going to end up having a panic attack in the waiting room. :/
3. Questions for the group? ETA: What are the must haves to include on a registry? Anything that shouldn’t be included, etiquette-wise?
4. Did you or will you have any sort of public/social media/picture announcement? Share if you're willing! We announced on social media at 13 weeks:
1. How far along are you this week? 19w3d with twins
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Second anatomy scan last week, and everything looked great. I have to go back for another next week because they got everything but baby B's spine. It's getting a little annoying because they are $200-$300 a pop, but I guess it comes with the territory. We did get a really cute pic of baby A's feet right up in poor B's face. Dr said most twins go to their separate corners by now, but these guys are right on top of each other (hence 3 anatomy scans to properly see everything!).
3. Questions for the group? Nothing this week
4. Did you or will you have any sort of public/social media/picture announcement? Share if you're willing! No, we never did a public announcement, and we just came out with the news to our parents. Second pregnancies don't carry the same excitement, but the twins news does make it more fun.
1. How far along are you this week? Readjusted to 6+2 2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Decided to have an early ultrasound last week. Measuring right on track and even saw a HB! I go back at 7+6. A little early, but it was like 4.5 weeks before I could be seen otherwise and my anxiety couldn't handle that. Otherwise just KOKO with the exhaustion, bloat and hormonal moodines. 3. Questions for the group? Not yet 4. Did you or will you have any sort of public/social media/picture announcement? Share if you're willing
We announced after the anatomy scan last time, so I assume we would do something similar.
1. How far along are you this week? 8 weeks today.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Still nauseous all day long.
3. Questions for the group? I'm really trying to streamline the registry this time around. What would you say are absolute must have for baby?
4. Did you or will you have any sort of public/social media/picture announcement? I have a few ideas. One of them involves baseball but only if the Astros win the WS. We got my MIL a Halloween themed frame since her birthday is on Halloween. It's killing my SO and I to wait though lol.
3. Questions for the group? I'm really trying to streamline the registry this time around. What would you say are absolute must have for baby?
This is a good question! You just reminded me that I have a similar one. I just found out a couple of days ago that I might actually be having a baby shower, so now I need to start thinking about building out a full registry rather than a random compilation of things I’ve stumbled upon. Haha.
What are the must haves to include on a registry? Anything that shouldn’t be included, etiquette-wise?
2. I just went for my first (6w) app't at a practice recommended to me by a ton of people -- and I hated it. It was such a waste of time. They did a urine pregnancy test (it's positive! -- yeah, I know.), took my weight and BP, gave me a gift bag, and explained billing. I was like -- you had me come in for this? Their schedule is this weird POAS appointment at 6w, annual exam + doppler HB check at 8-9 weeks, then first u/s at 12w.
My previous practice, which I had planned to leave for a variety of reasons, does the u/s at 8-9, and doesn't start checking with doppler until 12 because even at 12 it's iffy on finding it. I won't be 12w until the day before Thanksgiving, when I will be traveling, so realistically, my first u/s might not be until about 13w. I will lose my mind if all I have until after Thanksgiving is a doppler HB check that could be a false negative. I am almost 37 and this is not my first rodeo. I'm not good with the "if I'm not bleeding everything must be fine" school of thought for the entire first tri.
I called my old practice and set up a 9w u/s and appointment the morning of Halloween. I have mixed feelings about it, but I need the peace of mind for now. I can transfer later if I'm not feeling them.
3. n/a
4. Nope. I'm too aware of too many friends struggling with IF.
Omg Susie what a weird appointment and schedule! Is there a third option in town?
I know of one other one that delivers at the hospital near me, but I don't know anyone who has recommended it.
I was so surprised at my experience today. The schedule was weird, the communication was weird, and Calvin told me the nurses were all gossiping about patients in the hallway, talking about what one patient eats and so of course she's gained a ton of weight, etc. etc. and being generally catty. So off-putting. I was already really anxious about changing because at least the old practice is familiar, and none of that helped.
They called me afterward to ask what lab to send orders to, and I am not sure whether to even call back. Their providers have rave reviews, especially the midwives for patients who either want to attempt a VBAC or are looking for support with unmedicated births, which I want and didn't get at my last practice. I want to leave open the door to consider transferring once I'm out of first tri. But I don't know.
Susie - How weird! Based on everything I’ve heard, I’m surprised that standard practice would be a doppler check that early. I would also definitely be concerned about their lack of professionalism, especially with the gossiping in the hallways where anyone can overhear them.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Not a lot going on this week. I think I might go ahead and order our crib and mattress since Target is running a gift card promo right now.
3. Questions for the group? Not this week
4. Did you or will you have any sort of public/social media/picture announcement? Share if you're willing! We announced around 12 weeks I think and then announced it was a boy at 16 weeks. In retrospect I should have just waited to do it all at once at 16 weeks.

1. How far along are you this week? 26w4d
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I'm glad I'm (essentially) in the third trimester now, because it makes me feel more justified for complaining about all my pregnancy discomforts!
3. Questions for the group? My weight continues to rise faster that it did with my first. STMs - did anyone else experience this? I was happy with my weight gain with my first pregnancy and was hoping to follow the same approximate pattern, so this is kind of bothering me.
4. Did you or will you have any sort of public/social media/picture announcement? Share if you're willing! We haven't done anything. Poor second baby. We never even got around to telling DH's brother, who ended up hearing it from his sister or mom or someone. I'm thinking of making a FB post about it that references the fertility struggles we had with our first pregnancy. Sometimes I think it helps people struggling to hear of other people who've been through it, and we were really private about it when we were going through it. But I need to talk to DH and see if he's comfortable with that.
3. Questions for the group? My weight continues to rise faster that it did with my first. STMs - did anyone else experience this? I was happy with my weight gain with my first pregnancy and was hoping to follow the same approximate pattern, so this is kind of bothering me.
I'm a FTM, but I feel like my weight gain has suddenly and unexpectedly plateaued. According to my scale I haven't gained any weight in a couple of weeks now. Is that normal for the end of second tri?

That's pretty close to what mine did last time. It slowed down at the end of the second trimester, and then I only gained a few pounds throughout the entire third trimester. But, I think everyone is different and there isn't really a "normal", as long as you're not gaining way too much or way too little.
Susie -- That's really frustrating. I think it's the right call to do your 9 week appt at your first practice but keep the door open at both so to speak. I hope you can find something you feel good about.
cactuscookie -- STM and I'm 25+5. I think I'm about 2-3 lbs shy of the weight I delivered at last time if that makes you feel better!
I did kind of plateau last time in third tri and didn't gain too much the last few months. My doctor never really mentioned much about weight, and I gained a reasonable amount for the pregnancy as a whole. The weight thing can be such a mind game though. I would try not to think about it too much unless you / your OB have specific reasons to be concerned. Do the best you can with your diet, but know that each pregnancy is different and your body is probably doing what it needs

1. How far along are you this week? 37 going on 38.. yikes
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week?
last week i was group b strep positive which was a bummer. i'm just feeling really heavy and pregnant. taking it day by day and seeing the finish line. our bathroom renovation is almost finished!
3. Questions for the group?
4. Did you or will you have any sort of public/social media/picture announcement? Share if you're willing
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I'm at the stage where random people ask when the baby is due. I don't mind this, but it catches me off guard for sure.
3. Questions for the group? I have my GD test on Halloween morning. Lol! I was fine last pregnancy and well below the GD threshold, so I'm assuming this time will be the same. Is that too much false optimism?
4. Did you or will you have any sort of public/social media/picture announcement? Share if you're willing! We haven't and I don't think we will. We did a really simple picture and announcement with our first but only a few months before he was born. I think I'm more aware than ever of people struggling with IF or loss and I don't want to do anything too crazy. We're super excited and have told those important to us of course. I may announce it in our mailed holiday cards. For social media I think we'll wait and post a picture once baby is here.
2. My vent is that I'm starting to get too big to comfortably hold DD on my lap when we read at bedtime and it is just breaking my heart. Sometimes I say to her that she's too heavy for me to hold for too long and the other day she asked me "am I too heavy?"
3. can't think of any right now
4. I'm not really on social media at all anymore, and we didn't do anything else really public. I'll probably have birth announcements made up just for fun. I did that for DD but I didn't mail them out LOL!

1. How far along are you this week? 12+3
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Feeling better after hearing the heartbeat at my 12w appt on Friday (although my MW was having a hard time finding it, which did not help my already high stress level). Had NIPT labs drawn last Wednesday and really hoping we get the results by this Friday. My team is having dinner/drinks after work on Friday and with such a small group, it's so obvious if someone is not drinking (the whole point is to use tequila a patient of ours gave us).
3. Questions for the group? See above. Would you tell small group of coworkers at 13 weeks without NIPT back yet?
4. Did you or will you have any sort of public/social media/picture announcement? Share if you're willing! With DS, we announced on FB after we got back from our "babymoon" in April and DS was due in June. We definitely won't announce on FB just yet, but I'm planning on getting DS a Big Brother shirt and once we tell him, will either tell family/friends when we see them or I'll send the picture out. We're having family photos taken in November when I should be around 16 weeks, so we might put something in our holiday cards to announce since they'll go out after our scheduled anatomy scan.
Susie , sorry you had such a strange experience at the new office. Definitely a weird way to schedule things. My new office is a little similar in that your first appt is just urine test, meet one of the midwives, exam, and they gave me scripts for labs/US. Does the 3rd office get bad reviews or just not rave reviews? I'd probably do the same if I were in your shoes and go to the appt at your old office. Maybe make an appt at the 3rd office just to meet them? Also, I hate the assumption that everything is fine unless you're bleeding. It's very frustrating.

I asked my midwife about it, and she specifically said that I'm right on track. Really, I think I'm just being vain. At my 2-week postpartum visit last time, I was a couple pounds less than I was before I got pregnant. It was pretty nice not having to worry about losing baby weight, so I'd really like to experience that again! But I also don't want to give up my nightly dessert, so...
2. 3rd babies are no joke and my bloat bump is big! Also feeling incredibly nauseous this time (unlike the other 2) and exhausted despite DH doing 90% of the parenting for the last week.
2. Mostly finished the nursery this weekend and need to spend this week washing everything and getting all the stuff organized.. there's so much stuff, omg.
Oh! And ended up with a surprise dr visit last week when baby took a few days to chill and not move at all. Of course as soon as I get hooked up he is non-stop and I'm the girl who cried wolf. Glad he's ok but that wasn't fun.. I'll be working from home most of the time from now on as he tends to be more active when I'm relaxed.
3. What's one thing you wished you packed in your hospital back, and things you packed that you didn't use?
4. Yes we did after our anatomy scan and it was related to our love of travel (baby being our next adventure yadda yada). I was extremely hesitant at first given our IF struggles, IVF and prior loss, but I wanted to get to experience what everyone else gets to - like we finally made it here and I wanted to celebrate it without feeling bad. Not sure if that makes sense. Not really sure if it was the right decision but it wasn't too OOT so I felt ok with it. Sorry for the word vomit, touchy subject.
Also I’m super annoyed my OBGYN won’t do a dating ultrasound until mid November. I tested positive last week and negative the week before that so I’m pretty darn sure I’m only 6 weeks but annoyed at their “no US before 10 wks policy”. I’m transferring to a midwife next week so maybe she can call one in for me. I got pregnant on the pill so it would be nice to confirm dates.
I went through about 40 different emotions in the span of 20 minutes when I found out. I already knew it and the test was just confirming it. I freaked out, called my sister, contemplated not keeping it. But in the end, I knew I wanted more it than I didn't want it. And once I told my SO, his reaction helped me get more excited. It helps to have a support system.

YEP. I gained pretty steadily last time, 1 pound/week. So I ended up gaining 40 pounds altogether. (My OB had it documented as 35 pounds, but I'm going off pre-IVF weight)
Now, I'm about 20 pounds over my pre-IVF weight at only 18 weeks. I'm expecting to gain 45 this time.
3. What's one thing you wished you packed in your hospital back, and things you packed that you didn't use?
I didn't use anything I packed for during L&D, and never used the birthing ball we brought at all. Playlists? Nope. Snacks/drinks? Nope. It went too fast.
I wished I'd brought nursing tanks for the couple days I was in the hospital. I had nursing bras and regular tanks, but nursing tanks would've been easier with a sleeved robe over it.
