DS is 5. He swims 1x per week, and takes kung fu 3-4x per week. The lobby at kung fu is crazy before/after class. It's small and jam packed with people when kids are preparing to go into class / leaving class.
He usually wears Crocs to kung fu because he can step right into them, grab his athletic bag, and go. No needing to find a place to sit to get his socks and shoes on. And with swimming, he's usually still a little wet, so Crocs or slip ons where he doesn't need socks makes sense.
Now that winter is approaching (38 degrees this AM!) I'm looking for a warmer shoe. He can't wear rubber (cold!) Crocs in the dead of winter. We get snow in winter.
Vans? Are they a good option? Is there anything else similar that he can step into, and doesn't necessarily need socks for? I'm not looking to spend more than $30. (Had been browsing Vans sales on 6pm, etc.) We're mainly running to / from the car, but do sometimes run errands after his activities.
Are you ruling out the fleece-lined crocs also? That's what my kids wore in the winter.
Yep, this.
Otherwise the Jungle Mocs are a good suggestion. DS wore them without socks on occasion. Unfortunately even on short trips to/from the car, they ended up smelling after awhile.
Toms. not the warmest, but some have warmer linings. I wear them in the winter when I want something that slips on. I just went to the website to look at the youth shoes and they have some that are quilted.
Merrell Jungle Mocs but he'd want socks with them.
Huh. This is his winter uniform shoe for school. We just bought them on Sunday.
He is weird about wearing uniform items outside of school. But I could totally just get him another colored pair that's more fun than his dressy black leather.
I don't know why Merrell's didn't come to mind considering I just bought some! LOL. I think he would actually be cool wearing them without socks if we were running to the car.

Good suggestion. I'm running to a shoe store for myself lately, and they always have kids Toms. TY!
The only thing I like about winter is Bogs. So easy to get on and off. Actually Uggs are better since no socks required, but I’m not sure what the options for boys are like. I mean the classics are unisex, but not sure if your son would be into them.

CloudBee you know how you read things on this board and then months later see something that reminds you of a relatively inconsequential post? I saw these on Amazon and thought of this thread for some reason (and yet, half the time I walk into a room and immediately forget why I did so, lol).
