Thanks! I’ll pop it in the freezer for a bit before baking.
You’re only talking about freezing the cheese, correct? I am guessing I shouldn’t wrap it up in the pastry with the apricot preserves before freezing?
I missed this sorry!! It didn’t pop up in my mentions on the app. Yes, just the cheese!! Hope it turned out great!
It did, thank you! Lots of compliments from our guests.
Funny enough, my FSIL mentioned earlier today that she would also be making this this evening. She said her cheese also leaks out all over the place so I told her the freezing tip. Hopefully hers also turns out well!

I’m so happy to hear this! I hope her’s turned out well too. I really feel like it makes a big difference.

Anyone else have to do post thanksgiving disappointment cooking? We ate at my aunt and uncles this year. The stuffing had sausage in it. (I don’t eat pork or beef, rarely poultry but thanksgiving is one of the exceptions.) now I am making a box of stove top for myself. It’s not “real” stuffing but at least it’s not full of sausage.

Leek pie was super tasty but suffered from competition. I had some for breakfast today and it was very good. The broccoli/cauliflower was devoured.
My sister made my grandmother's stuffing and it's the best I've ever had it. OMG.
Made French onion soup tonight and pre-prepped some things for tomorrow. My sister and her husband get in town in 2 hours and are crashing at our house.
The sides I got from the cafe were fine but not exciting. The time savings and reduced stress made it worth it but I wouldn't do it again.
Spatchcocking went well! Turkey was good but I think I would just do a chicken if we're alone again next year. I wish I hadn't halved the mashed potatoes recipe because they were fantastic.

I’m good, but my sister was at a Thanksgiving dinner where the person in charge of mashed potatoes somehow forgot how to make mashed potatoes and didn’t want to look up a recipe. She brought instant potatoes and couldn’t understand why everyone was full of sadness.

I’m super late to this, but I always freeze my Brie after I’ve wrapped w puff pastry! It turns out great. I cook at 400 and add abt 10 minutes. Never a gooey mess! I accidentally left it in the freezer for 2 hours yesterday and it was perfect!

I didn't this year but have had those years so I feel your pain. The worst one was when I went to a house that didn't make gravy or have pies. I pretty much only eat both on Tday so I was really bummed.

I tried to make sweet potato rolls. They didn’t happen, yeast and I have a love/hate relationship.

I ended up using a Pioneer Woman recipe for the sweet potatoes, with some changes. I used a little less sugar in the potatoes plus an extra potato, doubled the flour, sugar, and butter in the topping, and added some nutmeg and cinnamon. They were delicious, and I don't really like sweet potato casserole.

Who the fuck forgets how to make mashed potatoes?
I know...I mean, you mash a cooked potato. That’s the basics, the name is the instructions!

My disappointment was the lack of sausage stuffing! Cornbread sausage is my favorite but my inlaws do stove top.

Yes, my SIL asked her mom to make gravy. She made it ahead of time. It was...lame to put it mildly. SIL’s mom also made the stuffing and it was boring so meh.

Every year. We aways go to relatives houses for Thanksgiving (I was allowed to host one year, when I was pregnant, which is BS because I'm definitely the best cook of either side of the family but anyway) and never have leftovers. Sometimes the food is bad enough I have to do a re-do.
This year the apples I used in my apple pie were too sweet. It was tasty but I like a more sour apple in pie. I'm thinking about making another.

I am in charge of desserts for Xmas. I owe H a rum cake. So I’ve decided to do a bundt cake theme. I am debating between an eggnog cake or apple cider doughnut cake or chocolate peppermint cake. Decisions, decisions.

Every time I've baked something eggnog flavored, I'm always disappointed.
