3. Questions for the group? Has anyone failed the one hour test and then passed the 3 hour?
I just went through this, and I totally understand how you're feeling. I failed my 1 hour, but took the 3 hour on Thursday and passed it. From what I've heard, both on this board and IRL, it's incredibly common to fail the 1 hour. I actually know more people who failed it than passed it, and almost all of them went on to pass the 3 hour.
My biggest suggestion is hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. I drank a bunch of extra water the day before, and the extra hydration made the blood draws so much easier. They also let me drink water while I was there, so I made sure to keep sipping on it throughout the test time to make sure I didn't end up dehydrated by the time I got to the later draws.
Thank you for the advice. I am going to go do it tomorrow, so I will keep my water filled today and bring it with me!

1. How far along are you this week? 33 weeks 2 days
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? So exhausted, and terrible heartburn. Yesterday was this giant fall festival I plan for work each year, with at least 400 people. We also painted my son's and daughter's rooms on Saturday. I went to bed early last night, but crappy 3rd trimester sleep paired with a too busy weekend has left me feel ragged.
3. Questions for the group?
4. Any fun Halloween plans this week? My H will probably walk the kids around and Trick or Treat, while I stay back and pass out candy.
greengables, I never recommend those monitors because they have a lot of false alarms that can cause more anxiety. The owlet is essentially a pulse ox monitor. The snuza and angelcare monitors are movement monitors and also have a lot of false alarms. We had our son sleep in our room for his first 6 months so we could hear him easily (well, DH more so than me).
Susie, I agree with others to tell her soon and over text/email. I was still TTC my first when friends of ours told us they were pregnant with their second pregnancy/third child after only 1 cycle trying (they had TTTC their twins). They told us over text, which I appreciated because I could cry immediately and tell her congratulations the next day and kind of mean it.
3. Questions for the group? How far along were you when you told your boss/employer? I’ve been putting it off as long as possible, but I also should probably say something before it’s obvious...?
I told my boss right away. I consider him a friend and he is a parent of a young child. He also knew about my previous losses. It was easier than coming up with excuses for missing work. I told the rest of work today at 15 weeks.
brooklyn -- that's rough. No specific ideas on the family stuff but I hope you can announce & celebrate with those who are supportive. Maybe just call those you are closest with, or whatever your typical method of communication is with them.
Susie -- I would also tell your BFF ASAP. It's early but especially with her losses she would be understanding if something does happen with the pregnancy. Email/text seems hard to find the right words, but I'm sure you can put together something nice ,compassionate. And then your friend doesn't have to react right away. Good luck. Really hope your ultrasound goes well and you start to feel better. ♥️
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Not exactly pregnancy-related, but I'm looking at a ton more work the next few weeks. My evening employee is leaving with 5 days notice, so I need to find, hire and train someone to help me with all the outside calf & heifer chores. And quickly. Both times in 3rd tri I've lost one of my main employees, and it's so stressful and exhausting to try to do all the extra work and replace someone.
3. Questions for the group? My energy is zapped. I feel like I'm maybe not eating enough quality stuff, but I get full quickly and things are starting to give me heartburn/burping/etc. Not glamorous. Give me some new ideas for easy, high fat/protein snacks. I don't have any food restrictions or allergies.
4. Any fun Halloween plans this week? Thankfully I got to do local trick or treat with DS this weekend because I'll likely be stuck working Halloween evening. He was ridiculously cute and we got way too much candy.
katespade -- my doctor has asked about movement since around 18-20 weeks. She encourages me to pay attention and make sure I feel some each day, but neither pregnancy did she give me a specific number or time to count. Maybe she's just less regimented on this?
If I feel like something is off or I haven't felt movement all day I'm always told it's worth getting checked though.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I started getting migraines late last week, so that’s been fun. Luckily it’s mostly just an aura, so I have been lucky to avoid a lot of the pain, but Friday night and Saturday was pretty painful. It took 4 extra strength Tylenol and 2 cups of coffee before it was gone. I really wanted Advil because I find Tylenol not to be as effective.
3. Questions for the group? Nothing this week so far!
4. Any fun Halloween plans this week? We usually just order Chinese food and hand out candy. We went searching for pumpkins to carve last night, but couldn’t find any! The search will continue tonight, so hopefully we’re successful.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? This was a surprise - baby 3 was always a hypothetical but shit has suddenly gotten real!
I called today to make my appointment and found out my clinic now does an initial blood draw right away plus an u/s at 6 weeks - with my previous pregnancies there was nothing until a nurse appointment at 8 and midwife at 11. That was a pleasant surprise!
3. Questions for the group? Any strategies for wrapping your mind around an unintended pregnancy?
4. Any fun Halloween plans this week? TOTing with my DD and DS (4 and almost 2) - should be pretty chill.
thom, my go to high fat or high protein snacks are not novel, but here you go: almonds, avocado (usually spread on a whole wheat mini bagel), greek yogurt, cheese, veggies and hummus, and cottage cheese. On the weekends I usually make a dozen egg muffins with cheese, veggies, and or meat (usually sausage) then grab one for breakfast or for when I need a good snack.
I hope you find a replacement employee soon! I've always been in awe at how hard you work. I can't imagine working such a physically consuming and never ending job while managing a pregnancy. You are seriously a rockstar!

1. How far along are you this week? 34w3d!
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? So done with the vomiting. Over it. I think that’s my update every week, haha
3. Questions for the group? For those of you with an older child, what is your plan for when you go into labor? My hospital is a mile away. My in-laws are 45m away, and our cousins are about a half hour. Should we have a sitter on call? I’m hoping my momma will be here already, bc I’d rather she be with DD. But in a pinch, in-laws would be fine.
I just don’t know about waiting the hour or more for them to arrive. Last time I was induced, but my mom has me in 5 hours, and my sister in 3! And my friend had her second *in the car* — do not want!
4. Any fun Halloween plans this week? DD is dressing up as a bird, and we will prob hit a few neighbors houses. TBD.

My mom and sister both live 45-60 minutes away. I plan to call my mom when I go into labor, and if it seems like things are progressing quickly we can always bring DS to the hospital and have her pick him up there. I'm not stressing it too much at this point. There are also a couple of local daycare moms I think would be willing to help out in a pinch; I may chat with them as that time draws closer.
centralsquare, I'm planning to have my dad come stay with us starting a little before 39w (I had DD at 39w2d) so he's already there and we can just go MOTN if/when necessary. I had a precipitous delivery with #1, and only made it to the hospital by 20 mins. If #2 comes any faster I may not make it. I don't want to bank on there being time to wait for my ILs to come 40 some minutes (plus any prep time).
As a backup plan..... I don't know. If my next door neighbor's college age daughter is home then, we could have her on standby as the backup to come over MOTN if needed. I feel slightly less bad about calling a college kid to come next door MOTN in an emergency.

1. How far along are you this week?
39 going on 40 my last week doing this!
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? induction nov 1! terrified. not of giving birth... but just everything that goes along with it. worried about an emergency csection but at the same time it is what it is.. as long as baby comes out healthy.
3. Questions for the group?
stm's, do you remember how the movement was our last week/s of pregnancy? i'm having a hard time remember how much #1 moved, but this one is soo calm it worries me
4. Any fun Halloween plans this week?
not really.. just going to waddle around, my kid is not feeling trick or treating (we will try it though), she isn't into candy really. she does have a party for her school.
centralsquare , I'm also not sure what to do. We're about 15-20 minutes from the hospital and I really want my MIL to watch DD, but she's an hour away in the opposite direction. If it's any reasonable time of day I figured we could bring DD to the hospital in a pinch and have MIL meet us there, so our only issue is MOTN.
centralsquare, my plan is to utilize the ILs. DH's parents live like 10 min away, and his brother and SIL live 2 houses down. We're 8 min from the hospital. I do want my mom to be here though, even through she lives like 8-9 hours away.
I will say this, it's not uncommon for people to bring their kids in at the start of labor until family or friends can get there.
cheeseandcrackers, I don't really remember either but it wouldn't be unusual to have a little less movement the last week or two, as they settle in and run out of room. As long as baby has 10 movements in 2 hours, it's fine.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week?
I'm feeling pretty good recently. I'm getting pretty sick of coworkers asking me how I'm feeling daily though. I cannot imagine another 20 weeks of this!
3. Questions for the group?
4. Any fun Halloween plans this week?
We have our anatomy scan on Wednesday!! So excited to find out the sex, and hopefully see that everything is going well.

1. How far along are you this week? 28w4d
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I had to stop running. This is about as far as I thought I'd make it, although I was hoping for a bit longer.
In more fun news, my two-year-old felt the baby move this weekend. It makes her crazy giggly, it's so cute.
4. Any fun Halloween plans this week? We had my sister's family over for a little pumpkin carving party this weekend, which was really just an excuse for me to make some fun Halloween-themed recipes. The next day, our neighborhood park had a small Halloween festival. My sister is bring her kids over for TOTing on Wednesday. Hopefully I can get my kid into her costume. So far, she is not a fan.
3. Questions for the group? Has anyone failed the one hour test and then passed the 3 hour?
This happened with me with DS, I failed that 1hr by a lot, but easily passed the 3hr!
I just looked up my one hour results from when I was pregnant with Kid2 (this is #3) today, when I got other test results in. I bombed with a 168 for the one hour and not a single reading for my 3 hour was close to that, even with 2x the glucose the second time around. For the one hour, I inadvertently fasted for 15 hours prior to the test and drank water during the one hour which I did not know was a no-no (but I know for this time around). So, don’t do that.
centralsquare, My MIL lives 3 hours away, and my parents just under an hour. Current plan is if I go into labor during the day, daycare will keep her until my mom makes it over. In the middle of the night, I'll either call daycare or my good friend as either of them have offered multiple times for us to drop DD off even in the middle of the night at either of their houses. With having twins, we definitely don't want to wait around the house til my mom gets here!
1. How far along are you this week? 18+2 with twins
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Next week I'll be at the halfway point. OMG. (My doc won't let me go past 38+2 with the twins). I need to get a move on the boys' room.
3. Questions for the group?
4. Any fun Halloween plans this week? took DD to her little toddler group's annual Halloween party this past weekend. Other than that, probably just taking her to the next door neighbor's house to TOT, then passing out candy.

1. How far along are you this week?
14+3
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week?
I feel so much more like myself in the last few days. I'm able to stay up past 9pm again! Also, a close friend visited this past weekend and I told her to bring an extra suitcase to fill up on boys clothes for her son. She brought me a totes worth of girls clothes from her daughter and the cutest gift - a seahorse dress and narwhal sleeper in purple. It's so weird to have little girl things in my very boy house.
3. Questions for the group?
4. Any fun Halloween plans this week?
Trunk or treat at DS's school, pizza party with neighborhood before trick or treating
Susie - you've received a lot of good advice about your BFF. I was in a similar situation when I was pregnant with DS. I actually told my BFF in person after talking with her husband about the best way to do it. In retrospect, telling her over text/email would've been better. I also agree that telling her before Thanksgiving would be good as well. I also let my BFF run the conversation with anything pregnancy related. We ended up a lot closer through that experience than one might expect.
jade - my DS is 5. We told him the day after we got our NIPT results back (I was 13 weeks). I would've preferred to wait a week or two longer due to a previous loss, but we were seeing a lot of family last weekend and wanted to tell them in person. And yes, everyone now knows once we told DS - everyone!
I think I’m about 8 weeks but will know for sure at my first ultrasound Friday! I can’t wait to see that little heartbeat and confirm it’s only 1 (family history + other factors mean I have higher chance of twins).
I’m showing quite a bit already so a lot of people know except for the kids. Like a PP, I don’t think it should be a secret if there is a loss and knowing myself, I will want support.
Also, I can’t believe it but I am considering a hospital birth after 1 home birth and a birth center birth. I just haven’t found a midwife I like and I love my OBGYN so I may just stick with her.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Had my monthly appointment yesterday and all seems well! Heard the heartbeat again very quickly. Have to go back today after work to get some blood drawn. In the past week I feel like I've suddenly started to feel bigger, although I keep reminding myself I have a lot more to grow over the next 5 months!
3. Questions for the group? Nope.
4. Any fun Halloween plans this week? I'll celebrate with my class tomorrow! I'm so excited we can have a fun day...it's been a rough school year (moreso for me) and these little ones need a super fun day. We have candy to pass out, but no one ever stops by the house we rent. We move into our own place in a few weeks so maybe next year we'll have some trick or treaters!
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Lots of anxiety this past week. I can't wait to feel movement so maybe I can stop freaking out. I'm still nauseous more often than not. I really don't remember it being like this my first go round. But it's possible I blocked it out because this is horrible.
3. Questions for the group? Did anyone have a doula? Did you feel like it was worth it?
4. Any fun Halloween plans this week? Weather isn't looking good but if it's just a little rain we'll still make it around the block for some TOT.
oliviapope - We have a doula, and she's already been able to provide a huge amount support for both of us. I feel like it's definitely going to be worth it to have her there during the birth. Ours also includes postpartum support, which I think is going to be really beneficial, too.

1. Eight weeks today! 2. I’ve got an appt with a nurse tomorrow. No real vents.. fingers crossed but this first tri is already much better than last time. Last time, either my relaxin came WAY too early and too strong or I developed an “incarcerated uterus” and I wasn’t able to walk for about seven weeks. So the fact I don’t need help or crutches to get to the bathroom right now is pretty awesome. 3. If you went the doula route, at what point did you hire one? 4. Nope, but it’ll be the first time in about seven years we’ve lived in an area where there’s a chance of trick or treaters, so I’m looking forward to that.
