Our nephew is turning 7 and he loves anything map related. He likes looking at Google maps and figuring out where things are in relation to each other. Does anyone have any ideas for a birthday gift for him? Looking to spend under $40 on something. TIA!
I was also going to say globe. I got a light up globe for my 8th birthday and loved that thing. I wonder if my parents still have it because DD would love it. I also got a puzzle of the US States when I was 7 and did that so many times. I have been map obsessed since I can remember so I can relate.

Randomly my 7 year old brought home the library book, The Scrambled States of America today. It’s funny, targeted to that age group and he seemed excited about it. He loves maps too. I haven’t read it yet.
I loved maps as a kid! I would have loved at Atlas -- I spent hours looking at my parents' that was a few decades out of date. I also used maps as posters on my wall and would have loved a scratch-off map.
My kids absolutely love it. Probably not as much fun if you’re in the middle of an unpopulated, bigger state and aren’t close to interstates, but for us it makes even short trips a lot of fun.
A map puzzle. We have a giant one of the US where each state is a piece.
I had one of those as a kid. I put it together about a million times. I remember even flipping it over upside down and putting it together without the colors/names #nerd
However, I attribute my excellent American geographical knowledge to this puzzle. So it is educational!
I love maps too. I think a globe is also a fun idea. Does his family travel? If so a pin or scratch off map would also be neat.
I am not sure how much it cost, but a subscription to little passports is a great gift! My daughter got it when she was six, and loved it. Three years later and she still pulls it out to look at.
