Hasn't this always been a thing for young people though? They don't vote at the same rates as older people? Of course there have always been young people who are very politically active, but as a group, I don't think people under 40 have ever beel reliabe voters.

The one thing I did think was salient from these stories was the woman who had moved a lot. As someone who has moved a lot, I definitely get that being a barrier. Fortunately I currently live in a state with same-day registration. I would like to see other states adopt it. And of all the reasons given, that is also the least white privilege-y one.
Agree. Is there a reason why same-day registration isn't the standard everywhere?

Yes. Voter suppression because that would increase access for people who are, generally speaking, younger, less wealthy, and more inclined to vote Democrat.

You people do realize that the insufferable, weak, and entitled mindsets of these young idiots are a direct result of the liberal policies you adore and promote. The irony is intense.

I really shouldn’t engage. And don’t particularly have time today, but I can’t resist.

Adding same-day registration is on our ballot this year (currently you are able to register if you go to vote early, but not on Nov. 6). The only reason for voting "no" that I've seen is that it's "too expensive" to hire more people to work the polls to handle same-day registrations. Which is infuriating. There is literally nothing else worth spending money on than making voting accessible to everyone.

PTSD from elections is insulting to people who actually suffer from it. Safe spaces (to get away from anyone who doesn't agree with you or hurt your feelings) and play doh therapy on college campuses. These young people don't know shit about the real world. They have been injected with the views and assumptions of their liberal teachers and professors (academia is saturated with them). They have been taught by people who themselves have little experience of the real world. They have been indoctrinated with certain ideas. They have been taught that capitalism is inherently bad and socialism is good with no real understanding of what that means. They have been coddled their entire life and have no idea what true adversity is. They are the reason that the right wing calls you people "snowflakes". Own it.
The troll is back! On Halloween too, how festive. Lol.
It kills me that any poster who doesn't buy into the "groupthink" perpetuated on this board is labeled a troll. Another example of your collective ignorance.

Enlightening.
I actually have a political science degree and I had no idea all my teachers were subtly indoctrinating me to crave socialism...
Just curious. Have you been to college and witnessed these activities first hand? Do you currently have children who are being indoctrinated by liberal teachers? Where do you live? Because if so I want to move there. My kids need more liberal indoctrination.

Guys, I need the hive mind to tell me how I should feel about this. TIA.

I have an advanced degree from UTK and yes I witnessed these activities way back in the day and things have only gotten worse. It appears we live in the same general area but your head is too far up your own ass. Excuse me, your liberal bubble.
I always love the vague reference to "views and assumptions" without any specifics.
FWIW, my political science Ph.D. husband has worked in academia, political polling, and now the corporate world, and he's only gotten more liberal with each move. Because anecdotes.

LOL. Apparently nobody should ever do research in an academic setting or find out what voters are thinking! Glad a random person on the Internet is here to set me straight.
I'm pretty damn liberal and I have never once thought "socialism totes works, let's do it." Huh. I did once date a guy with a Che poster on his wall, but we broke up because he was too Catholic for me.
Go back and really read this thread. Appx 75% of the posts here prove my point. I have to be in a meeting in 6 minutes but enjoy your gleeful bonding over the "troll" who none of you can actually present a valid argument against. It must be nice to live in a fantasy world of your own creation.

"I won't actually explain my argument to you. Figure it out yourself."
It reminds me of the guy who comments on thebulldog's Facebook posts about "the media" being biased but refusing to offer suggestions as to where I should get my information. "Do your own research!"
oracle76, generalize much? You seem to have all the canned right wing answers about liberals. It sounds like some Fox news piece about one college that went viral. Let's flip the conversation to the conservative group think. None of you collective conservatives really believe that progressives want open borders, want socialism as an economic model, want to eliminate guns. It's lazy talk. You throw every bit of overblown propaganda to make progressives seem like the bad guys when the problem is that most of the time your motives are simply that you don't want anyone else to advance. You don't want to fix immigration problems, implement some legit background checks to assist with gun violence, fix healthcare or work on the stagnation of wage growth. That shit is hard. At the same time, conservatives I've engaged with want to keep POC and immigrants in their place under some guise of "fear". Sound familiar? Conservatives are the only ones that work...isn't that it? But in the next breath immigrants are stealing everyone's job. Can't even get your stories straight over on the right. Get real. Either come up with an original thought or shut your idiotic pie hole.
