I soak mine in hydrogen peroixide when then stains get bad enough to be icky.
:Y: Thanks! I'll try that if this one ever gets gross.
After the first year I certainly wasn't complaining about spending another $35 on a new one, I had been spending that for each period before the diva cup because the copper IUD made me go through tons of ultra tampons and pads.
For those of you who have super heavy or are prone to clots, how often do you need to empty the thing. This is something that has always made me kind of grossed out, but I'm really intrigued that so many of you here use it AND love it. I'm same as a PP in that tampons just don't work. I have to use that AND a pad and I often still leak. Are there leakage issues?

My periods were SO horrible pre-Mirena. I had to empty it every 90 mins on my heaviest days. It was still a million times better than tampons & pads. Those don't absorb clots, so I'd end up bleeding through tampons or with clots sitting on my pads. Ugh. DC is so much better.
I got to where I could tell when it was full. I'd get a weird sloshing sensation.

I have super heavy periods with clots. SO much so I have to have a surgery to scrape to address this in the next few yrs.
Anyway, I use Taxpax pearle super plus (the purple not the orange) tampons and have to change every 2-3 hours. When I use the diva cup I only change it 2x per day. I rarely leak anything that even needs a liner or a pad. You may be using the wrong size. Some people even w/o kids need to use the postpartum size
I made the leap a year ago. I had to go back to tampons, unfortunately. I'm one of the few this thing just did.not.work for. But - I have a "retroverted uterus" which I think plays a role. I think maybe twice, in the 5 months of using it, was I able to get it in where it really felt secure, I didn't feel it, and it didn't leak.
I just could not get it to fit so that it was comfortable.

Same here, although I could usually make it 2-3 hours on my worst days. I could feel when it got full.
5.5 years of being on MM and reading about Diva Cups and I still can't bring myself to try one. I still lurk in all these posts though. Heh.
This was me. Yeah, it changes your life. Suddenly it's not a huge hassle to vacation in the tropics and have your period starts. You can sit on the beach ALL DAY and not worry.
Okay, you guys sold me. I just ordered one so I could try it next cycle. Let's hope it's as life changing as you all say it is. Sometimes it stinks being a girl

Life changing. Seriously. My instructions said not to boil, but I have the Moon Cup or something like that. I <3 it.
I have super heavy period with wicked cramps. Not since the cup. still heavy, but not painful at all. Which tells me there is something in the tampons my body does not like.
I loved mine, and fully intend to go back to it once my period returns. I empty it twice a day on CD1-3, then only once a day the rest of the time. SO MUCH cheaper and easier than tampons. No risk of TSS, and I never leaked. I do yoga, swimming, biking, etc...with no leaks whatsoever. There is a learning curve, but once you get it, the DCis the best product ever
Still trying to get a hang off it..had some "issues" and holy crap I cant get it out. I always feel like I am doing something wrong..sometimes its good sometimes its bad..IDK when it works out for me, its great. I think I need to chill though.
I think they HAVE to say that for sanitation reasons, even though it's not necessary.
I'm on year 4 with mine and I'll never go back to tampons.
For all the people who are going to try it for the first time: just remember that there is a bit of learning curve at first. Don't give up the first month!

Damn, I was all set to get one but this has me worried. I have a tilted uterus as well. Might have to try it anyway!
