We get messages sent through a portal and my daughter's preK teacher uses Class Dojo and communicates reminders etc. through there as well. The daycare also maintains a Facebook page where they post announcements and events too.
Our daycare is part of a chain and we get monthly emails from the chain but nothing specific to our center. They mostly rely on posted signs and verbal communication, plus occasional flyers. They make the signs really obvious (posted on door, and/or large sign in the lobby) so it generally works okay.
Yes we get emails about everything. We get a monthly calendar with all the events on it along with lunch menus, then reminders about all the events as they approach. I would miss everything because H mostly picks up and pays zero attention to signs like “tomorrow is pajama day!!” Its also how we are alerted when a kid in the class has been diagnosed with something contagious. It’s completely reasonable in 2018 to request this!
Our daycare also does this. I would be a mess without the reminders.

We do not get emails at our DC. Everything is announced via signs on the door or in a newsletter in the kids bins either monthly or as something important comes up. We get daily sheets for both kids (this is new for the preschool room) so they sometimes write reminders on there too.

Our daycare is a large chain. We do not get any emails, everything is a sign on the door, or occasionally a note in the cubby. Some things are just verbally communicated, if it is class specific.
