Broken ribs hurt like a mother fucker but they won't harm her.
Unfortunately recovery from broken bones can be a long road for the elderly. It’s not as simple as when it happens to a younger person. Falling randomly isn’t good either.
We just went through this with H’s grandmother but I won’t say anymore because I truly believe RBG will defy all the odds. There is no other option that doesn’t make me want to hide in a bunker.

goldengirlz , I was basing this on my mother who is in her upper 70s. It took her time to recover but she did much easier than my next door neighbour who broke his hip.

This. Another risk she has is pneumonia from really shallow breathing due to the pain. Pneumonia can be incredibly serious in the elderly. Thank goodness RBG is in tip-top shape - she is definitely set up to make a good recovery!!

The (random) fall is more concerning to me, I hope it was something simple like she tripped on a stair or something and nothing underlying that caused her to lose her balance etc.

I am concerned given her cancer history that it may be more complicated then just broken ribs.
So she fell yesterday and didn't go to the hospital until today? An 85 year old woman toughed out fractured ribs at home until this morning. She's going to be just fine.

Omg. I had a dream about her last night. She was hospitalized and barely conscious, and I woke up terrified. I half expected to see bad news about her on CNN and was relieved to see nothing (and then told myself I was an idiot, as I am not clairvoyant). I am kind of freaked out.
I kindly ask you to have another similar dream about a particular asshole in chief.
