Has anyone used Financial Engines to manage their 401K? Please assume it is provided at your cost by the company's 401K and is the only option. Did you find their service useful? What was your cost? Did it make a difference over time in your returns vs. self managing the 401K? Would you recommend them? One of my 401K's is offering Financial Engines management; I'm wondering if it's worth the cost.
Years ago my company offered this as a free service and so I used it and found it to be helpful. I made a few tweaks and changes based on their recommendations. I can't recall if it was a huge bump in returns because it was a tough time for stocks, but it certainly didn't hurt.
