Going with a just a vent right now: my office is being closed and our jobs are being relocated. My divorce isn't even finalized yet. Now I may very likely have to spend another $17k to seek custody to move with my kids. That is all.

Celebration: We did a fun overnight downtown on Friday night. DH gets a discount at one of the hotels, so we picked the kids up from school and went right to the hotel so the could swim before dinner. After dinner we went to see a stage version of Disney's The Little Mermaid at a local theater.
Vent: I always forget to ask to be put on a quieter floor/quieter area of the hotel. We were right next to a suite and they had a big party and were super loud from around 10:00 - 11:00 pm. Luckily the kids were already asleep and didn't wake up. Then there was someone pounding on a door somewhere on the same hallway, on and off, for almost 5 minutes around 5:00 am.
I'm only working today and tomorrow and then have the rest of the week off. Yay! Wednesday afternoon I'm planning to make homemade rolls (my grandma's recipe). Thursday we go to my parents' house for Thanksgiving. Friday is DH's birthday, so we're going to have MIL over for a small Thanksgiving/birthday celebration for him. I am trying not to spend a ton of money on unnecessary things, so I'm only going to one store for Black Friday shopping to buy gifts for my kids, nieces and nephew, and DH's two cousin's kids that we buy gifts for. I'm planning to buy a few things online (new washcloths for the kids and a set of towels for me and DH, and a few warmer long-sleeve UA shirts for DS).
HeartofCheese, That sucks. Hope you can work something out.
Celebrate: We had a great low key weekend. We got all of the decorations up inside and out yesterday. We put up the tree with the kids last night, listened to some Christmas music, ate homemade pizza and watched Home Alone. Which is the only movie DH would agree to last night. In his mind all of the classics should only be watched directly before Christmas, which is weird because they show in TV starting this week.
Vent: it is 9:30 and I have no idea if I have to work a charity volleyball tournament tonight. The school has taken it over and since they were out the end of last week, I doubt any teams signed up.
Vent: I signed DD up for a volleyball camp starting this week. Who does that during the holidays. The only reason is I am trying to stay in the good graces of the league so they will take DD in January to practice with the travel team. All this, so she will hopefully make the high school team, to make friends in a new school.
Vent: I spent most of our weekend away with a headache and sore throat I assumed was from all the smoke we’d been dealing with. Noooope. It’s a really awful cold + laryngitis. Right in time for Thanksgiving.
I went to Camp Gladiator (one hour boot camp workout) this morning in the 35 degree weather and had fun, but it was hard. It’s “endurance week” and I think they make it hard intentionally.
I’m hoping DH snaps out of his funk and starts acting like a normal person. For months family game night, family movies, family lunch or dinner has been me and the kids. He’s just - checked out. I’m down with that intermittently but this has been sustained. He does occasionally join us under duress and that’s no fun either. I think he needs to take more anti depressants, and realize that I don’t get up to work early and run later for fun - I do it because three kids and work make it hard and he can’t sleep in until 9 and get everything done.
HeartofCheese, I'm sorry. Did they tell you where you are being relocated to yet? Or do you get to choose between a couple of locations?
It was a busy weekend here, mainly with chores, and stuff like cleaning out my closet. I think that I may have misplaced the Bingo and Rolly (puppy dog pals) pillows that I ordered the kids for Christmas way early. I either need to find those, or they will be an easter gift? I'm at work today through mid day Wednesday, cranking things out. DH and I are signed up for a 5K on Thanksgiving morning, but we've both been really sick. So maybe we will just walk it?

Today is my last day of work for a week. I went to my SIL's jewelry party yesterday and spent more than I had planned. I just hope I like the necklaces I ordered.
I have a lot of prep to do before Thanksgiving, and all I can think about is how to fit yoga into the mix. Even though it would be good for me to go, but I think it might stress me out even more if I have to rush doing everything else. First world problem for sure.
I'm so sorry HeartofCheese ! Is there a chance that you can find a new job or work remotely? Or would you definitely have to move?
There are other options, but sadly relocating and bringing my kids with me is the best one. Otherwise I'm looking at a big paycut or a wfh job with no options for promotion and likely to be eliminated within a few years.
On Sunday my phone decided to inform me that on Friday my allergist’s office had called twice and left voicemails. The doctor wanted the nurse to go over the results of the X-rays of my chest and sinuses they took on Thursday. So now I’m waiting for them to return my return call and hoping like mad I don’t have lung cancer. They wouldn’t have a nurse tell me that over the phone, right? I’m completely losing my mind.

mommyatty, T&P, I'm hoping it's nothing serious. If it's something serious, I am guessing they will have you come in for a follow-up consultation with the doctor. My personal experience with skin cancer is that the nurse told me over the phone, because it was a basal cell carcinoma, which is the least serious kind of skin cancer. When I went in for the excision, the dermatologist told me that he sees patients in person for a melanoma diagnosis.
Vent: STBXH sucks and keeps telling me how poor he is. Our accounts are still joint, so it's messy. Celebration: I think I will be officially divorced next week! Which means his money issue no longer in any way impact my life. I cannot WAIT to be free of that situation! Celebration 2: Thanksgiving! It's my fave. Cannot wait to escape to my folks' house for the long weekend.
I'm so sorry @heartofcheese. Is looking for a job with another company an option? Will your current company offer severance if you don't relocate?
I spent the weekend Xmas shopping, both online and in stores. The kids are 75% done. Yesterday we got xmas photos done. The photographer is always so great and the sneak peek that she sent looks awesome. I can't wait to see the rest of them.
Then I spent this morning at the dentist getting a temporary crown. My jaw and tongue are still numb and I am so hungry right now!
Update: what they thought from the exam was a minor sinus infection is actually a monster sinus infection that will require a second round of antibiotics. I don’t have lung cancer!!
Further celebration: This has given me some serious perspective. Holy shit. There’s nothing like spending 14 hours thinking you are dying to get some mental clarity.
twinmomma, it feels wrong to say congrats on the divorce but I think it will be such a weight off of you to be free.
Last week I did a quick overnight trip to Columbus and got home around 10:30. There was a lot of weather in Columbus and I’m so thankful we were only slightly delayed for de-icing. My parents are here so even though I worked on Friday, I didn’t accomplish much. The weekend was nice - DH was hunting so it was just the kids, my parents and I. We shopped and ate, made some food and I even got some time to myself. My dad gets bored easily and needs to constantly be doing something so he cleaned out the inside of my car and is now painting my shelves and fireplace. We have so many small projects that we never make a priority so I’m always grateful when my parents come and want to help finish them. I hope I’m as active as my dad when I’m 74!
Today is my only day of work this week. Tomorrow we are sticking around here and have an annual pie night at a friends house. Wednesday we’re all headed to my in laws in Southern IL for Thanksgiving and then my parents are leaving for home (TX) on Friday. We’ll stay the weekend and come back on Sunday.
I’m already not looking forward to the weeks after Thanksgiving. I have a ton of meetings and a trip to London scheduled. I have no idea when I’ll get my work done or when I’ll get Christmas shopping done. Cue the panic.
Weekend was ok. Quiet. DH and I snuck out for dinner, but we have not been on the same wavelength lately, and it was awkward. We got a ton of work done outside on Saturday, and had a lazy family Sunday.
Vent: we use propane to heat our home. Everything- heat, hot water, cooking, fireplace, and our pool in the summer. We had a contract for excellent pricing for as long as we remained customers - in writing. There is nothing in the fine print anywhere that allows the company to cancel the pricing contract. The price fluctuates, but it is $.X above the published commercial rate.
Welp, after 4 years, they canceled it. They are now charging us more than double. They are refusing to honor the price that we have in writing, because they “can’t make any money on that price.” Um. Not my problem. You agreed to it, you have to honor it. We have it in writing.
So now we have filed a complaint with the attorney general, because there is no other regulatory body for propane. The AG was very interested. DH filled out an online complaint form on Friday and the company called us today. They are still claiming that they can’t honor the price, but the customer service person is escalating the issue.
Fingers crossed... I’d like to not pay and extra $300/month for heat this winter....

mae0111, good luck, I hope filing the complaint gets the company to honor the contract! I had to file a complaint with the BBB after we sold our last house (7 years ago) and the bank (Fifth Third, if anyone's curious) tried to make us pay interest for the days between the closing date and when they received the payoff check. Yeah, good try bank, but you can't charge interest on a mortgage that doesn't exist.
Well the tournament is on. They may have 2 or ten teams. So home to take ds home and back out again. Next time a school takes over an event I suggest, they can have it and I will move on to something else.
Celevent: We had a good weekend overall. Dance class Sat morning for DD then drive to the in laws. DH announced he made plans to get drinks and we got in a fight when I said I was tired. Mostly because he isn’t very rational and I think operating on models of behavior we had in the past that have changed since both is us have matured. After the fight I compromised and went and we had a good time. I just don’t appreciate a completely booked schedule and 15 minutes notice and no input into plans.
Then we went out to breakfast, to the apple orchard for doughnuts and cider and family party for Grandma. Drove home today because the kids are off school all week.
Vent: I am in the middle of an allergic reaction rash and had to go to Urgent Care this morning for steroids. I wanted to rip my skin off I was so itchy.

HeartofCheese, omg I'm sorry. That's so much. A job thing, a move thing, a legal hassle, custody and all that. Do you think for sure you'll have to fight your ex? Do you think for sure he'd try to prevent you from moving the kids and try to move to have them where you are now?
The tournament was a success!! Our service project is to help a family, mom and 6 kids who have been living in a storage shed. The school social worker had found a trailer for $800 to put on some land that they had. We made enough last night to hook up the septic system and plumbing. We are also going to have an ugly sweater contest at school to raise more money and I challenged my class to go out and find one job before Christmas, babysitting, raking leaves, etc.. to donate the money to the family. I had several in the class show up considering they are Freshmen who cannot drive and it was iffy because of snow days.
It was funny to watch. Boys, who never played volleyball, have some interesting serving form. One looked like and antelope with several large leaps, that lead to a very mild underhand serve.

Yes. No idea why it’s doing that with random words and phrases. It’s not intentional in my posts.
I found a thread on married life about it. apparently one the Pro boards sponsors are doing for advertisement. I am not sure how to link the thread or I would.
