We adopted two kids, like we always do. A few questions.
1. Where do you buy stuff for them? Like do you put a gift receipt in so their parents can exchange if something doesn’t fit? 2. The 4 year old boy wants Legos. Nothing more than that. My 4 year old loves Duplos. Would you do Duplos or classic size? 3. The 9 year old girl wants headphones, which are easy. Would you get toys too?
I generally do a jacket, shoes, a shirt, and 2-3 toys. Both kids have a coat as a need item, so I was planning on getting those from Kohl’s. And instead of a shirt, I was thinking some pajamas this year.

In the past we have done the pull a tag off a tree, but it was a bit more simple.
I just wanted to throw out there that my 3.5 year old plays with both Duplos and regular sized Legos now. I am getting him more regular sized Legos for Christmas vs. more Duplos although the regular sized Legos are more of a pain in the butt. They have some regular sized ones for the 4-7 age group.
ETA: Yes to toys for the 9 yo too, although my 10 yo niece is in a transitional stage. She is more into music than anything else, but that would be hard.

You could do Lego Junior less pieces then regular Legos but still the same size. My 8 year old is transitioning out of toys. I would do more crafts or a mini spa items.
For the 9 year old, you could do some sort of craft/DIY kits instead of a traditional "toy." That's what I do for a cousin that age. Nail art kits, bath bombs, make your own purse, stuff like that.
