Am I supposed to do these now that we have a kid? Lol. I mean, I kinda want to but also kind of dont want to take it on.
I did a photo card once when DD was 1. I plan to do another this year since now we have DS. DD will be 5. I ordered the digital copies of their school photos specifically for this but I haven't gotten the files yet. I can't get it together however to have a super coordinated holiday shoot. That probably won't happen until all members of the family can dress themselves without tantrums so we still have at least 3 years to go.
We just did a pro shoot with DD a few weeks ago, and she didn't smile for a single photo. I kept saying to her in the park, "Don't you know this is costing me money???" lol

Ds2 was just shy of 2 last year and was a total crank for our mini session. I wasn’t happy with the photographer either as she just kind of shrugged and didn’t try to do anything to get him to smile or try to get candies or anything. Anyway, I used his pouty face pics on the card anyway. People thought they were cute! And they make me smile. This year at almost three he was a total ham.

I love sending and receiving Christmas cards, and have loved doing so even pre-kids. But I am very inconsistent when it comes to where I buy from. Last year I did store pick-up from Walgreens which was fine since I didn't feel like spending much last year. Other years I've done Shutterfly and now I can't even remember the rest. Maybe this year I'll go with Costco, which I've surprisingly never used even though I am obsessed with Costco and had my wedding invitations printed with them almost 10 years ago and the extras I have are still great.

Ours didn't either. IDK if she does this for a living or if it's more of a hobby/"momtographer" sort of deal ... I found out about her from my town's Moms FB page and the session + three edited pics was only $70, so I probably can't complain much. She was perfectly nice, just didn't interact with us at all and didn't have any suggestions whatsoever in regards to DD.
I ordered the template and had ours printed through the same person on Etsy. She doesn’t charge for shipping and her costs to print was almost comparable if not cheaper than printing it elsewhere so wasn’t worth the effort to buy the template and then get them printed elsewhere. I was really happy with how it turned out!
Last year, I made a "Year in review" postcard with a little picture and super shot caption from each month on the front and a Christmas letter on the back. I used graphic design program to make it, but you could totally use powerpoint or google slides. I printed it on card stock at Office Depot and it came out so nice and everyone told me that they loved it, so I'm going to do it again.
I bought the Groupon for Photo Affections. 100 cards for around $35, I don't remember the exact price. I've done this every year for the last several and I am always happy with the quality. They went in the mail yesterday.
I've done Vistaprint for the last 3 years plus DD's birth announcement. I have been happy with them. My pet peeve is when the printing company adds their logo, which I can skip at vp.
I have a formula - nice full-size picture on the front with simple artsy text overlay, and a picture collage on the back with more casual pictures. I design it in Picasa. I love having some extras and am saving a set for each kid. I don't do scrapbooks or baby books so this is kind of my substitute.
Okay, so, for those of you who are way less lazy and cheap than I, please share your holiday cards! Of course, only if you want to, please and thank you!

I was considering a PhotoAffections groupon, but I need 50 cards, and the groupons are only for 40, 70 or 100. Also, I want to upgrade to cardstock, and you also can't apply additional coupon codes, so they're current code for free shipping won't work
Ours are from simply to impress, they are not cheap but the quality is good and I was able to customize them. We always do a 5X7 2 sided card on card stock, so it's never cheap. The front is a picture of the family and the back are individuals of the kids. I did spring for the rose gold liner this year because it was only 10 cents per card.
I'll try to upload pics tomorrow when I can cover up our names.

I am pretty sure the photo affections ones are cardstock - just not premium cardstock or double sided.
I was in the same boat with needing 50 but did the deal for 70. With tax and shipping it came out to about $40. I don’t think I can get 50 on cardstock for that price.
We just ordered from tinyprints last night. 50% off orders of $100 or more through today or 40% off orders of $99 or less. We will be getting our cards December 10-12th with free standard shipping, so if you want to use the deal, do it today!
I love sending and receiving cards. We only send out about 25-30 cards, so we can finish it in a day or so.
I think I'm going to order from Minted, but hate how expensive they are, but love the idea of them addressing the envelopes for me. I wish they had a better coupon then 25% off.

This was our experience too. The photographer kept saying 2 years old is basically the hardest. Combined with the fact that I was on IVF hormones, 2 days from egg retrieval and couldn't button my pants; I totally hate our pictures. I'm sure some day I'll be glad I have them, but that day is not today. That's why I ordered the cheapest cards from Vistaprint. LOL
I think next year I want to do a summer photo session instead.

I might have a better coupon that you can use. They mailed one to me -- I'll check when I get home.
We do Costco photo cards for Christmas. I use Minted for baby announcements because those feel more important to me and worth dropping like $200 on vs. the $30 I spend on Christmas cards.
For the Costco photo cards, the trick is to get them delivered to your house vs. pick up in the store. The quality of in-warehouse processing is crap these days. If you get them delivered though, the quality (image color, paper, etc.) is much better.
