I'm debating cancelling my prime membership that will renew later this week. It has gotten so expensive and I don't really sure all of the features. The no minimum ship is nice, but not necessary. Plus, I've been ordering a lot from Target lately. The only thing I do use monthly is the subscribe and save. Does anyone know if you can do subscribe and save without a prime membership?

Yes you can! I recently did not renew my prime and I am 95% happy with my decision. We still do subscribe and save. If I ever need something from amazon within 2 days, I ask my MIL to buy it and I pay her back.
zarapipe, I've been broadcasting to the masses that you DO NOT need prime to use subscribe and save. I cancelled prime a long time ago and don't miss it.
Interesting. I have never considered canceling Prime. I would probably make less impulse buys. S&S is my primary reason to keep Prime. And I'm a Vine member - not sure if Prime is required for that.
I think I am going to cancel when it renews next year. We don't use many of the built in "features" and it will help me spend less. If you think about it, you're paying $10/mo for "free", somewhat-fast shipping.

I cancelled earlier this year and don't miss it at all. Target does have some kind of similar S&S thing but as others mentioned, you can still opt to do that with Amazon.
I've been thinking of cancelling too. I'm trying to make an effort to buy more stuff locally and my kids are getting to an age where it isn't so hard to schlep them around anymore. And I'm so sick of all the packaging. Recycling only comes every two weeks and our bin is overflowing every time.

I was thinking of this last week. We use a playlist I made on amazon music at night for DS and DD has been liking the prime books to read at night. Other than that, we don't use amazon that much.
Right now for the holidays amazon has free shipping on all orders anyway. I’m thinking of cancelling too.
This is true, but fair warning it's pretty slow for certain items. I ordered iron drops for DS and they didn't ship for like 10 days which was obnoxious because I really needed them.
I'm not a prime member, but I just noticed this morning that on one of my recent orders I must have clicked the "sign me up for prime" button because it signed me up for the 30 day free trial which is annoying because now I don't have the free trial to fall back on in the future.
I prefer Target these days. They're also doing free shipping and it's 2 day! I get most orders from them within 24 hours which is cool, but creepy too.

icedcoffee I agree amazon without prime is supperrrrrr slow! I swear they do it purposely to make you join prime. I agree target is way faster these days and I have a red card so shipping is free.

I do think they do it on purpose. It would be one thing if it was shipping quickly, but delayed by slow method of shipping, but it's not. It's taking like a week or more to leave the warehouse which to me is totally unacceptable. I expect things to ship within 2-3 days whether I choose expedited or turtle speed shipping.
I'm glad you brought this up, we have been seriously considering not renewing our prime. Especially now that it's no longer 2 days to receive your item - everything we have ordered recently has been at least a week. We are definitely buying less than we used to, not sure why exactly, but it's probably a good thing.
I have to say I’m a little disappointed with amazon’s quality lately too. I feel like a bunch of stuff looks normal and then when I receive it, it is cheap quality crap or knock offs from China. I ordered a toy they other day and the review said make sure you order the original “brand name” and not a replica, but I couldn’t tell which ones were real!
Walmart . Com is doing the same thing. They let anyone sell under their name. I want to go to a site and see stuff that is the same as sold on shelves.
I can't image cancelling prime. I don't have a target anywhere near me and there isn't a lot of selection for big box store on the island we live on and I try to avoid going over the bridges so prime is the best. Plus prices on the island are jacked up for things like diapers etc so stuff for the kiddos is a must from prime since its often that I need things asap cause I am not as organized as I should be.

Target is starting to do the same thing. I don’t care if they do, just give me a way to filter those products out of the search results. Another reason to hate Target’s website.
simpsongal, is the % discount with S&S less attractive if you are not a Prime member? I bought all of Hobbes' diapers for 20% off via S&S (she was a Pampers baby), and it was way easier for me than schlepping boxes from BJ's. But if I bailed on Prime, would I still get the same % off?
Who am I kidding, I probably am not dropping Prime in 2019 when I am also expecting a baby -- Hobbes' newborn period was my heaviest Prime use period ever -- but curious for future. I think mine renews next September-ish.

yes! You still get the same deals! You can do it! Target and Walmart offer great shipping deals and it really cuts down on impulse purchases.
