they have my photos so they might as well sign me up for the lifetime prime membership.
Ditto.
Between photo/video storage, prime video (which my kid watches a lot of), free shipping, and monthly kindle books, I feel like I get my money's worth out of it.
eta: Also, we tend to order certain obscure or hard to find items from Amazon. Things like chapstick tubes, refrigerator water filters, citric acid, etc. I'm not certain that Target carries some of the weird stuff we buy on Amazon.
simpsongal, is the % discount with S&S less attractive if you are not a Prime member? I bought all of Hobbes' diapers for 20% off via S&S (she was a Pampers baby), and it was way easier for me than schlepping boxes from BJ's. But if I bailed on Prime, would I still get the same % off?
Who am I kidding, I probably am not dropping Prime in 2019 when I am also expecting a baby -- Hobbes' newborn period was my heaviest Prime use period ever -- but curious for future. I think mine renews next September-ish.
yes! You still get the same deals! You can do it! Target and Walmart offer great shipping deals and it really cuts down on impulse purchases.
This. It has cut down on our purchases so so much. We are on a tight budget lately so this has been helping. I also live in an area I could drive to get something if I really needed it now. Subscribe and save is still great and same %!

The obscure things is where Amazon takes all my money. Instead of hunting several stores for a certain button battery or dish towel or spice jar, it's all going to be found on Amazon.

Yes. I really cannot foresee myself hunting several different sites or stores to find something that I know I can get on Amazon for a decent price. The annual fee is worth it to me to retain the "free" 2-day shipping, so that I can do things like buy the citric acid I need to make bath bombs for my son this weekend and not have to make the trek to the beer brewing store that I know carries it. Also, it was cheaper on Amazon.
I'm also very particular about what items I purchase. Yes, I could have found protein powder around town but I specifically wanted a brand that tested low in metals, unflavored and ideally with whey protein. Or that straw to go with C's stainless sippy cup? No way am I finding that locally.
But could I get the dog food around town? Probably. But then I have to figure out how to lug around a 25 pound kid and a 30 lb bag of kibble. Nope!
