President of the evangelicals fails to recite the Apostles' Creed at GHWB's funeral, because he doesn't actually know/care/believe what Christians believe.
This was talked about in the thread about HWBush, but evangelicals generally do not recite The Apostle's Creed, and I'm sure they wouldn't care at all about this.

If they don't care about kids in cages and tear gassing toddlers, they better not care about this.
As long as he wasn't using the prayer time to chit-chit or tweet or otherwise call attention to himself, I can't get worked up about this. No matter how religious he may or may not be (or even professes to be).
A federal judge in New York has ordered that SDNY prosecutors and the Special Counsel's Office have until 5pm Friday to deliver their sentencing memoranda in the Michael Cohen case.
Do I think Trump and his supporters are giant hypocrites? Of course they are. But we need to focus on the big picture of things we can prove hard facts on:
-Emoluments violations -Conspiracy -Lying to Congress/American voters before the election -Foreign powers with leverage over US political policy decisions

I'm so glad it's not a midnight deadline. Tuesday and the Flynn sentencing memo tried my patience.

Yes. I think it is very easy to lose the forest for the trees with Trump sometimes.
ETA and to be clear, I don't think that we cant walk and chew gum at the same time and sometimes its fun to poke fun of Trump for misspellings in a tweet while knowing that's not going to be what brings him down. But I do think we need to overall stay focused on the bigger things.
I hope that sentencing memorandum comes well in advance of 5 pm eastern, because otherwise, I'm going to be stuck on a brewery trolley tour with my sister and her friends while trying to digest all this. I'm guessing there are some Republicans in her social circle so I won't even be able to talk about it while it is happening. Please send thoughts and prayers.
And I really hope Rachel is not going fishing this Friday. The woman deserves her vacation days, but maybe it can wait till Monday.
Also I totally had a dream last night that there was a place where you could see Rachel's calendar and the nights she'd be out of town. In my dream, she was in town on Friday.

That he’s not actually religious and doesn’t know the words doesn’t surprise me. Being non-Christian myself, I observe the hypocrisy from the right but couldn’t care less myself.
However, being an optometrist, it amuses me that probably a large part of him (and likely melania too) not reading, well, anything, including the apostles creed is that they are both way too vain to use reading glasses. So they just don’t read. They are just so dumb and uncultured and blah.

Except his supporters dismiss the above as "technicalities." These people tend to have very tribal, emotion-based responses. This is the shit that should be getting them to turn on him. The above they don't give a shit about. (Just like they don't give a shit about democracy or the rule of law.)
Donald Trump golf course plans slammed by Scots councillor www.thenational.scot/news/17278742.donald-trump-golf-course-plans-slammed-by-scots-councillor/ Councillor Martin Ford, one of Trump’s leading critics in Aberdeenshire, will not be taking part in a vote so is able to give his views in advance. He urged his elected colleagues to reject the proposals if they find them to contradict planning policy, which he believes they do.
Ford added: “We can see there’s no political attraction for decision makers breaching planning policy to pander to who’s blatantly an international pariah.”

Years ago I watched the documentary about the construction of this golf course, and it clearly showed what a complete asshole Trump is by the way he treated the residents. I never liked him but that made me absolutely loathe the man and the way he does business. He's a bully and a cheat. International pariah is right.
Um, I was raised evangelical (Lutheran), and we definitely recited the Apostles' Creed in church.
Lutherans still typically adhere to a lot of the higher church traditions (Apostle's Creed, Nicene Creed, Athanasian Creed, Lenten Calendar, etc) like Catholics and Episcopals do. That's not usually the case for "nondenominational" evangelical churches. I know several of them intentionally eschew those traditions because it's "head knowledge not heart knowledge" and basically they liken it to mindless, robotic verbiage and not a True Relationship with Jesus (TM).

Making President Trump’s Bed: A Housekeeper Without Papers nyti.ms/2E5ovaE But Ms. Morales said she has been hurt by Mr. Trump’s public comments since he became president, including equating Latin American immigrants with violent criminals. It was that, she said, along with abusive comments from a supervisor at work about her intelligence and immigration status, that made her feel that she could no longer keep silent. “We are tired of the abuse, the insults, the way he talks about us when he knows that we are here helping him make money,” she said. “We sweat it out to attend to his every need and have to put up with his humiliation.” Ms. Morales and Ms. Diaz approached The New York Times through their New Jersey lawyer, Anibal Romero, who is representing them on immigration matters. Ms. Morales said that she understood she could be fired or deported as a result of coming forward, though she has applied for protection under the asylum laws. She is also exploring a lawsuit claiming workplace abuse and discrimination. ... That same year, she said, Mr. Trump had an outburst over some orange stains on the collar of his white golf shirt, which Ms. Diaz described as stubborn remnants of HIS MAKEUP*, which she had difficulty removing. *All caps are mine, not NYT

Yep. I grew up Episcopal and we recited the Apostle's Creed. That said, I had to look it up to know what it was, so don't ask me to recite it for you. There's no way in hell I could do it from memory now.
Interesting. Tucker Carlson is a colossal piece of shit. But he just gave an interview in which he bashed Trump. Now, his criticisms are that Trump hasn't built his wall or defunded Planned Parenthood, so don't go thinking he's suddenly a decent guy. He's not. But this looks like Trump's Fox News foundation is starting to crack. I'm sure they'll continue to be Trump's mouthpiece, but I think they are trying to prepare for the day that it's impossible to defend Trump any longer. His recent comments suggest to me they are trying to prime their audience for that day by getting them worked up over the fact that he's not been successful carrying out his fucked up agenda.
