TR, your tree was likely more expensive this year. There was a shortage that caused higher prices.
We got ours at Costco last year for about $50. It was $59 this year. Check that out next year. 8’ noble fir.
DH got up with the boys. I think he’s grumpy. There’s been a fair amount of nagging and correcting this morning. I wish he would chill out. He makes things worse when he does this.
DS2 has soccer this morning and then we’re taking both boys to a birthday party. DS1 is getting dropped off at MIL’s after so he can spend the night. It will be nice to just have one kid.
I need to get a bunch of stuff done around the house, which I’m not particularly excited about. I also have a bit of work that I need to finish this weekend because I didn’t feel like doing it on Friday.
I’m at the hair dresser now. We have a 50th birthday party for one of H’s former coworkers later. It says dinner and has a residential address. I’m not really looking forward to it because I’ve never met him and H hasn’t worked with him in many man years so it’s not like they’re close friends. He’s never even met the guy’s wife. So. Mingling with strangers at someone’s house eating who knows what for dinner. Super, lol.
I should go to the gym this afternoon, but it’s cold and rainy so it will be tough to get motivated to leave the house.
Oh! We saw Green Book lat night and it was really good. Highly recommend. It did make me sad, though, at just how much hasn’t changed.
I'm online shopping for Christmas presents so I can put off going to the grocery store.
It's looking more likely that the snow is going to miss us Sunday/Monday. I'm disappointed, a good excuse for a random work from home day would have been nice, and it always feels more Christmas-y with snow.
Mine was $140 but that includes delivery, set up, the tree stand and a little mat for under the tree, and disposal. Living in a second story apartment, I appreciate not having to carry the tree places. I was willing to throw money at this particular problem.
This seems like a good price for all of that! I’d pay that in a heartbeat!
So far it seems like a really great service. They were on time, the tree is full and smells great. Pine needles are super soft. And next year I won’t have to pay for the padding or the tree stand.
I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham
I have a head cold and am so congested that I can sometimes feel my pulse and swallowing almost pops my ears. And I had to cancel plans with friends. And I'm maybe whining a bit.
I'm sick, again. I am done with those zinc/vitamin C tabs. They don't seem to work on me and just end up making me hate the taste of them. Also, when I use them copiously, I end up in this situation most of the times, a rebound cold. I'm sure it's something different I picked up, but I'm not happy.
This is probably more stress-related. I feel like I'm sprinting towards the end of the year. Next week unfortunately I have to travel and then the following week will be my last week in the office. Last year my company started doing winter break where we get between Christmas and New Year's off. So that will be great, I just need to stay focused until then. I'm hoping I feel better before we leave for Michigan.
I need to get to the mall today so right now I'm trying to caffeinate and get my lazy ass up and showered. I was up late watching White Christmas, which I've never seen before. It was cheesy in the best way. Although I couldn't help being disturbed by the size of Vera Ellen's waist. She literally looks like Barbie.
I’m so irritated with my mother. For the second time in a couple months we made plans to do X on Y day, she didn’t write it down, made other plans and can’t do X thing anymore, and claims the conversation didn’t happen. It’s frustrating in itself and then makes me wonder about her - she’s 67 and still has a highly demanding job that has her traveling multiple times/week. Starting to think her age is catching up to her but mainly really annoyed about it’s implications on my day today.
This is super-annoying. Does she use a calendar that you can send an invite to, like iCal or Google? That way when you agree on it, she has it in her calendar and won’t forget.
I’m horrible at remembering this stuff unless I put it in my calendar right away...
I’m going to start making entries on my own google calendar and adding her as an invitee, just so there’s proof we actually did make the plan for a specific day/time. What’s worse is that it was supposed to be a fun day with DS2, and I couldn’t really give him the whole story and cancel the day because he’d be crushed, so now I’m taking him to do some of the stuff solo. Bah.
I’ve used packing cubes for my last few trips, but just discovered You Tube videos with packing cube hacks! This is life changing! I’ve already watched 4 different videos and have tried the tricks and cannot believe how easy this is! Now, I’m sure I’ll have to iron when I get there, but I usually do that anyway. I may go buy more packing cubes today so I can put everything in a cube! And maybe some wrinkle release spray 🤣

Whenever I am this close to selling my kids to the circus, they come through. They were pretty bad last weekend, and this week was somewhat rough as well. We had a picture appointment this morning. To say I was expecting the worst is an understatement. I couldn’t have been more wrong. We were early (!!), we had everything we needed (3 outfits for the kids, accessories, etc), my kids didn’t flip out bc they had to wait, they didn’t ask for a tablet, or ask for snacks while they were dressed up. They posed perfectly and once we were called (admittedly nearly an hour after our appointment time), we were in and out in 35 minutes, including choosing our pics. They got chicken nuggets AND ice cream for lunch as a reward bc they simply blew me away.

Can you post links to the videos? I always hear raves about these but I’m clueless as to how they help.
H had to work at 7 today and E stayed at my parents last night so I had no excuse NOT to go to the Y for 6:45 body pump. Afterwards I went to my parents to pick up the kid (and shower. I love my mom’s shower) and the two of us went to a holiday party at the salon where we get our nails done-my nail lady asks me and my mom to come every year and I always forget. She (nail lady) texted me this morning to make sure I was coming.
She makes THE BEST egg rolls and she makes them every year (the last few years she actually brought some extra in for me to take home to my H). It was nice but busy (typical for a hair salon on a Saturday). I ate some egg rolls, a piece of quiche and had a wee mimosa. Ellie ate cake and candy 🤣. We picked H up from work and we’re going to finish the tree and Christmas decorating.
I’m so pumped that there’s a holiday “season” of Nailed It-we’re going to watch while we do the tree.

I have no idea how to post a link 😬. I just typed “how to use packing cubes” on you tube and found some hints
After a hour at Best Buy where we talked to 3 different salesman and one very knowledgeable fellow customer, we bought a new modem and a wireless mesh system.
Ugh I so do not want to have to setup all of it. DH doesn’t really know what do or understand.
We delivered gifts to the family we adopted for Christmas and then had brunch. I dropped my car off at 8:15 this morning Nd just came back to pick it up at 1:15 and they haven’t even started it. I’m PISSED. I’ve got shit to do, people! I asked if they would give me a loaner so I could do my errands and that was a big fat nope. So here I sit eating their free popcorn and watching Steel Magnolias.
My mom got me a pair of Rothy’s for Christmas and had them delivered to me and they came today and she said to go ahead and open them and OMG they’re so comfortable! This is bad news bc now I’m going to want them in lots of colors.

Yep. I ordered some that are showing delivered today, but they’re in my mailbox a block away and it’s pouring, so I’m waiting for the rain to let up.
Boo namasteak and TR . I was hoping yall had snow too. My family in Houston is jealous.
I'd take snow over all the rain here. At least the river is staying in its banks and projected to stay that way, though it is really full right now and not going to crest until Monday.
I just came from Target. Pulling in the parking lot should have warned me. I walked in, saw the checkout lines 6+ deep and walked right out. No one has time for that.

I got glasses today. I’m stoked and I love them.
I also super love my husband. They dilated my eyes because I have to have additional tests. I felt all dizzy and out of it for a chunk of the day and he occupied the kids and cooked dinner while I chilled.

Nothing reminds me of how much I love online shopping faster than actually going into a store.
tripleshot , glad to hear the pup is OK. sorry to hear about the price. Is it possibly he got bit by a bug or something like that?
I doubt it was a bug. It’s pretty cold here, but she could have eaten something outside, or it may be something like seasonal allergies contesting her and she doesn’t know how to clear the phlegm, or a sore throat. She has been okay today, but does sound a little stuffy.
And my kid just threw up. Poor thing has been miserable all day and was just saying her tummy hurt. DH at least brought a trash can close, so she didn’t totally cover the couch.
Poor baby. And I was just saying in my head that we somehow had not had a sick day yet with kindergarten.
I have and 11 year old. He is the coolest kid I have ever met. Never could you have told me that the feral child I had as a toddler, would be this amazing as a preteen.
And he is my kid because the first thing he did was plan all his meals for the day. Raising him right!
so, i am in a sticky situation. c went to a slumber party last night. Her friend, who was hosting, was telling c that she was keeping everyone awake when C was asking some of the other girls to be more quiet. then this morning, in front of all the girls and the girl's mom (whom i am good friends with) that C kept everyone awake, that she ruined the sleep over and well, threw my kid under the bus.
C has been upset all day. she was really hurt and embarrassed to be blamed in front of everyone and the girl's mom. The girl also told C that because of her, C, she will most likely not be allowed to have a sleep over again. These two are usually good friends, but i do notice that the friend does not always speak nicely to C... either a rude tone or with impatience. I don't know...just not always nice or the way i think a good friend should be.
So, i kind of want to say something, more about the girl blaming and shaming my daughter in front of everyone. i am kind of nervous to do this, but i am pretty annoyed. gah

We are going out of the country on a family vacation over the holidays, so we celebrated Christmas tonight with DH's family. Someone got DS2 a Nerf tactile vest. At one point I turned to see DS2 in the vest with an older male relative standing a few feet away repeatedly throwing Nerf darts at him. Finally older relative looks at me "This must be broke, not a one will stick to him". I love family get togethers.
I had such a busy day. Lots of errands done, which means I'm sleeping in and being lazy tomorrow. Just put on The Holiday and about to start addressing Christmas cards!
I bought H a Stretch Armstrong today! It was his favorite toy as a kid and I'm sure he will be shocked to get it. It's either going to be a huge hit, or he's going to be like, "...why?"
I hate shopping in store, half the time I actually go what I need/want is unavailable. Amazon shipping, however, has been screwed up since we moved. After the last mess where I had to have things reshipped 3x I was assured by US based amazon support that my stuff would no longer come by Amzl. Nope I gave in and ordered something once again it was not delivered - (I need an ink pad for Christmas cardsI even tried to buy one at Target and Walmart they were both out of stock). They are now saying it will take another 2-3 for it to be semi fixed, after telling me on Nov 26th they were fixing it. So I’m giving up Christmas shopping on Amazon. I need to figure out what I need to do to activate my mastercard’s Shoprunner promo.
