I was not expecting to have so many breast pump options. My insurance is usually not great, so I was expecting one or two options. Turns out, I have five: Medela PISA Spectra S2 Plus Ameda Finesse Evenflo Advanced Lansinoh Signature Pro
katespade , I had the Medela PISA both time and found it just okay. It took me 45-60 minutes each pumping session, which I suspect would have been cut down with a stronger pump. I've heard good things about the Spectra vs. the PISA so I'm going with this time.
1. How far along are you this week? 15 weeks tomorrow
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I got my blanqi tanks that I ordered on Black Friday and a pair of maternity jeans. They all fit so I am happy! I had some pretty bad cramping last night that made me pretty nervous, but I chugged a bunch of water and they went away. They came back briefly today, but are gone already. I am sure it’s nothing, but at the time I was not feeling it!
3. Questions for the group? Nothing today
4. Are your holiday decorations up yet? We have our tree up and the garland on our stair rails inside, but I still need to do the outside garland. We bought new Christmas Lights this year, but then because of the snow couldn’t put them up, so we are going lightless this year and I am sad! I love Christmas lights!
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? My company's fancy holiday party is this Friday and I still don't know what I'm going to wear. I have one form fitting non-maternity dress that might work, but it kind of makes me look like I have a beer gut and not a pregnant belly. I also have a maternity dress but it looks a little too big/flowy. I hate this in between stage!

1. How far along are you this week? 15+3
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I think my exhaustion is starting to lift!! I am excited to have energy to exercise again. I always feel better when I can move my body.
3. Questions for the group? Can anyone offer up basics I absolutely need for a newborn? I feel overwhelmed by all the things to buy and I don't want to buy things I am not going to use. Any STMs have any favorite products or things they didn't end up using?
4. Are your holiday decorations up yet? We just put up our tree over the weekend. That is about as festive as it gets around here

Tbh, all a newborn needs is a way to eat (boob and/or bottle), diapers and wipes, some stuff to wear, a safe place to sleep, and a safe car seat. That's it. The rest is more for our convenience.
That being said, I loved our auto rock n play from day one. We used the crap out of that thing. In fact, I have to get a new one. We had a swing but my first never cared for it and we never got a bouncer.
If you're planning on breastfeeding, I loved the Lansinoh hot/cold breast therapy packs. Cold was glorious for engorgement, and warm was helpful for clogged ducts and increasing output on the pump. I buy these for all my new mom friends who are breastfeeding.
This may have been asked before, but what are some good places to get maternity dresses? I prefer brick and mortar because shipping returns seems like a pain, but I don't know. I would like some nice dresses for my baby showers. This seems like it would be easier not in the middle of winter!
I tried a maxi dress that was cute on top but I'm apparently too tall for those because they are always way too short.
I WFH full-time and my hope is to use the pump as a way to supplement breastfeeding (i.e. so H can take some MOTN feedings, I can get out of the house for a few hours at a time when I need to, etc). I don't imagine that I will run into very many situations where I'll need to be away from home when I pump. In this case, how much of an inconvenience do you think it would be to have a pump that has to be plugged in (doesn't have a rechargeable battery)?
I'm leaning toward the Spectra S2, but it only has AC adapter power.
Other options: I could pay $95 to upgrade to the Spectra S1 or I could go with the Medela PISA, which both have battery power.

Or you could get a manual pump, which are cheap, for those rare situations.
I rarely used my manual pump, but it came in handy a few times. It also felt like good insurance - for example - I probably won't need to pump on this weekend trip, but if I do, I have the option.
I just got home from the doctor. I’m 4 cm dilated and 70% effaced but he was pretty wishy washy about whether I should go to the hospital now or just wait and see what happens. I wish he gave me a straight answer because I don’t know how to decide. It’s partly my fault because I emphasized that I wanted him to deliver so I think he was just trying to not make any guarantees.
Do you guys think I should go tonight? I’m supposed to call back the office in the next half hour so they can call the hospital for me!

Also, I am crying in my car because my friend painted a baby swan for the baby's room. She made a beautiful baby fox watercolor for DS and it's my favorite thing in his room. If i can figure out posting a pic from my asshole phone, I will.
1. 13 weeks 2. not really - still tired and nauseous but having symptoms means I'm still pregnant... 4. We have our wooden advents out. We took our older boys and got a tree Sunday morning so they decorated that yesterday. It's a sparse Silver tip but I love it.
mrs.flang I was induced with DS2. He was 5 days past due date. I went in the morning and OB broke my water. Contractions started immediately and he came pretty quickly after that. I much preferred the induction to my 30+ hour labor of DS1.
breast pump - I had a medela with both kids. I also had a medela hand pump for when I couldn't/didn't want to transport the pump. Haven't looked into my choices this time around - sounds like there are many more choices though!

I honestly didn't think the cord was too big a deal, and corded pumps have more power than battery. I usually used pumping time as me time, and would play on my phone or read a book. If you have the pump hooked up near your work station, it wouldn't even be a big deal to you.
I also used a manual for those times I needed to be more mobile, like in the car.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? My baby shower got booked already. I'll be traveling a long distance for it (as will many others attending) so they booked it far in advance so people could make travel plans. It will be around 25 weeks, which I guess is early, but I'm still excited (considering I didn't even want one in the first place).
We also toured daycares today since the really good ones by us have a 6-8 month waiting list. We loved two out of the three and will likely hold out spot at one of them before the end of the year.
3. Questions for the group? Any tips for PREVENTING constipation? I've been eating plenty of fruits and veggies and drinking lots of water. Just bought some flaxseed to put in my morning smoothies. Anything else? (YIKES!).
4. Are your holiday decorations up yet? Yes. Our neighbors are lucky we waited until after Thanksgiving.

How far along are you again? I think I would wait. As long as you and baby are healthy I don’t see a need to induce.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I really hate the free nursery furniture we got 😔 the changing table is HUGE and the crib is a mini crib which my giant babies will outgrow quickly. I think I’m going to donate them and just spend the $160 on the ikea crib I wanted and use a dresser we have as a changing table.
4. Are your holiday decorations up yet? Not as many as usual because I have no energy and we realized we have no outlets outside !

woowoo, colace! It's a stool softener. Also benefiber, prune juice, probiotics.
namasteak, we have the sundvik crib for DD and new baby and I love the affordability of them! We also have the hemnes dresser we use with a changing pad.
I decided not to go in and will just wait and see if I start to feel anything.

I do have a question! Can I take elderberry syrup? Or any other tips to boot my immune system? DH is sick and there is some nasty stuff going around DS’s preschool that I would like to avoid if at all possible! *I will call my OB and ask tomorrow but would love to start something tonight*

We had the sundvik crib with my older 2 & I have a yellow 3 drawer hemnes dying for a home that’s not my master bedroom 😂 Plus this rug would be perfect in a babies room and the yellow matches the dresser.
WOOOHOOO DH agreed to pull up the carpet to expose the hardwood underneath! We did that in our master bedroom when we moved in and it was in such good shape we didn’t even have to refinish it. Hoping to just do a corner of the room to confirm this one is in good shape too.

My OBGYN gave me the ok for elderberry dummies so I think you're probably good!
Although the primary thing that is helping your immune system is the vitamin c so you could always take some of that or eat something high in vitamin c for tonight .

You guys, I'm dying over how talented my friend is. The top one was for DS, whose room is decorated with foxes, and the bottom is soon-to-be DD, whose room will have swans.

Colace. Fruit/veggies/water are great, but IME pregnancy requires much bigger guns.
