My kids each take Musical Theater and Tap one day/week. Soccer should be starting up in Feb. for my 10yo soon. She’s also cast in two theater productions this spring. The 6yo has Cub Scouts 1/week.
I’m afraid to get into competitive teams outside of rec. My general rule though is nothing before 5:30pm. Mine are at aftercare so that’s makes it tricky if you do carpool I guess a parent could take the kids and you pick up. But for that work got me I would have already had to pick them up from aftercare which puts me on the same timeline.
5:30 was our limit too but for soccer in our area we never know practice times or days until after teams are assigned so it’s super annoying. It was like that for both leagues we’ve been in and both rec and comp teams. I hate it.
With three kids who currently cannot play sports I have gotten SO MUCH DONE. It’s insane how much free time I have and how much lower my stress level is. Making dinner is so easy when no one has practice or a game!

I bet! My oldest gets 2, 3 week breaks a year - that's it. And it's the most glorious 6 weeks! DH and I just look at each other, like, "is this how normal people live?" We always joke that we hope DD3 has no skills or interests, bc we won't have the time or money to pursue them!
I'm going to sign DS up for Church league baseball. He's told me multiple times that he wants to so I'm just going to hold my breath and do it.
I'm not signing DD up for anything since she was terrified to go on the field during soccer. Maybe next year.
DS just told me he didn’t want to play baseball this year because it’s 2 weeknights a week. It makes me sad because I really liked it and don’t want to do the rec one especially because it’s Saturdays midday in the hot sun in the summer. He might change his mind... and I won’t complain about the free time.
madringal - a normal year for us is a break at Christmas and when we go on vacation. They play on all other holiday weekends, have practices year round and clinics when the season isn’t on. And this is entirely rec! NOT having that insanity has been so nice!
It ends this weekend. DD’s coach wants her to attend twice weekly training as his assistant.
DS has his first game back next weekend, pending final release from the surgeon. I’m trying to be chill about this but I am pre-stressing, which is stupid.
Also DH’s office is moving and his commute will now be at least an hour each way. So zero practice pick up help when I’m desperate after that move. UGH.

Saturday games are time consuming for sure. And somehow we always get the 8am ones. At least they aren't as hot but they are a Thing. Our "more serious" league had weekend games (either saturday or sunday) and either a weeknight game or an additional practice. So not doing that league didn't get us out of weekend games.
However, we currently only have 1 weeknight free, which does concern me since we won't know when practices are until the coach is assigned. If it's wednesday my H is going to flip b/c we have SO MANY THINGS happening on that day.
Speaking of Wednesday, did I mention that our school has a a weekly quiditch game? It's also on Wednesday, though, at 3:30 and parents are required to attend, which means my kids can't ever go. All that's fine though. DS is in drama AND boyscouts on wednesday (he goes to one or the other) and DD has speech that night, and DH has his card game.
I know I’m a lightweight compared to most of you, but we just set tee ball and baseball practices for the year. Looks like DD will be T/Th and DS will be W. Ugh. Dreading it.

I’m a lightweight too. I have Sat dance but I don’t mind that because gets me out of the house. Once a month Scouts for both kids.
Basketball Tuesdays and he is doing floor hockey Fridays (DH was designated for Friday’s since he is usually home). So really I just have Tuesdays.
