Last month, an opportunity came up to buy a house a few doors down from my current house... I've driven by it for years and have been obsessed, even without seeing the inside. It's a 1960s mid-century modern designed by architect Leonard Currie. Somehow the stars aligned and we moved in over the weekend. It has been complete chaos trying to make it all happen over the holidays, etc. BUT we are in and slowly started to learn the house. The sellers are supposed to be sending me a box of original plans and newspaper articles about the house-otherwise I only know what the neighbors have told me. I started an IG account to share the house's story and to follow along as we restore what we can and remodel what needs it, so if anyone wants to follow, it's @bradleyhousestory. I know the original client was a guy named Bill Bradley, hence the name... but nothing else yet! Hopefully going to use the IG to get feedback on design decisions and more.
I work in the industry (designer for a design-build firm) and am a certified kitchen and bath designer... and the kitchens and baths need... a lot. It will take us some time to save up the cash for the big projects, but we are doing some small things here and there to make it livable. Wanted to share for other house geeks like me! Trying to post a pic of the house from the real estate listing-it's a butterfly truss system with two wings.
That’s exciting! I love MCM. We are also in the process of buying a fixer upper Victorian (fingers crossed). Starting an instagram account is a good idea! My hopeful house needs soooo much work. So so much work.
The garage and workshop on the front appear to be an addition-but I'm waiting on the original plans so I can find out for sure! The rest of the house is all glass. I'll post a few more pics!
Love love love mid century modern homes. Hoping to get to Palm Springs for the MCM home tour in Feb.
We bought a home with some MCM features (MCM is rare around here) and I am trying to make it more MCM with future plans and current furniture and design.

Well, so far the house is freezing at night and we tore all the basement ceilings down yesterday so we can upgrade all the galvanized pipes to pex... but the sunset/sunrise views are amazing so I'm holding out for more good to come! Ha!

I’m obsessed with MCM houses. My old neighborhood had a lot of MCM houses but a lot of them were being torn down due to flooding which was heartbreaking. Some were raised several feel which was cool to see how neighbors did that while still keeping the original character of the houses, and there were new builds in MCM style, but most new houses were 2 stories instead of ranch style.
