woowoo, I am so sorry. Big hugs. I really hope they can give you some reassurance that everything is ok so you can try to relax the rest of your pregnancy.

1. 20 weeks + a couple days
2. DH finally told his parents that I'm pregnant. I'm glad I didn't have to be on the call and that it's been done. I'm now debating on when to tell work. I kind of want to wait until after the fetal echo in two weeks. I also just made the decision to have the echo done with a pediatric cardiologist in town, rather than do the 5 hour round trip drive over the mountains to the MFM. It makes me a little nervous to go to someone new and it'll be a couple days later than it I had the echo done with the MFM. The last anatomy scan ruled out the worst CHD scenarios, so I'm trying to just remind myself that it won't be as bad as the last pregnancy. I'm really hoping that after this fetal echo, I can get in the mindset of just worrying about regular pregnancy issues.
DH is a furloughed fed, so I've put myself on a hiatus from massages, PT, etc until that paycheck returns. It's making me cranky.
4. I really haven't thought about it much (hoping that after the fetal echo, this will be one of those "regular pregnancy" things I can start worrying about!). Both of us only have FMLA, which is more than I had at my last job. I used up all my leave last year between moving and then our loss, so I doubt I'll have more than a week saved up again by June. Oh well.
pandorica, I didn't do maternity photos with my last pregnancy, and I really wish I had done something. Not necessarily "professional" photos...but just some photos that showed I was pregnant. This is really depressing...but I didn't realize that I didn't have any photos with her until right before our later TFMR and so the only photo I have pregnant is this depressing photo we quickly took in a hospital room.
woowoo I'm sorry, I don't know exactly what I'd do in your position. I had a repeat AS 4 weeks later in my last pregnancy because they weren't able to confirm that the heart was properly formed, but that didn't seem quite so scary because it was more of a "we can't see well enough to say it's all good" than "we see something that is raising a yellow flag."
A friend of mine did an amnio about 6 months ago, for different reason. She was a wreck in the week that followed, because of the risk of infection associated with doing an amnio. Ultimately it was fine, and the results gave her peace of mind for the rest of the pregnancy. She is the type to always want all the information about everything, regardless of the cost (monetary or psychological) though, which is not a universal approach. She could not understand why I didn't opt for a higher level u/s, for example, which I could have requested because I am AMA (but no other risk factors).
I think I would want to know how/whether treatment options for toxoplasmosis/CMV/etc. would change in the course of the next 4 weeks, between now and the next u/s, and if they would at all. If not, I'd probably try to sit tight for the 4 weeks. If they would, that would be a different discussion.
1. How far along are you this week? 19weeks 2 days third time mom
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? -Finally getting in to see a Chiropractor next week for this stupid SI joint issue and tailbone issue that is flaring up again (like every pregnancy) -I am nesting ALOT and really want to finish decorating our house but am having trouble making decisions =(
4. What's your maternity leave plan? Is your partner taking leave as well? I SAH so its less maternity leave and more get through the newborn stage. LOL June-August Baby is Due in June - DS1 and DS2 will have summer school June & July 2 days a week for 5 hours. I plan to have a nanny for the other 3 days a week for 5 hours. September - December DS1 - kinder for 7 hours a day 5 days a week. My sister works at the school so she will pick him up & drop him off at home a few times a week. DS2 - preschool 5 hours a day 3 days a week. I plan to have the nanny to come for 5 hours once a week. DH I really hope DH can take more than a few days when he still has to WFH. If he gets a new job with this big 4 firm he will be able to take up to 6 weeks.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? a local pregnancy center was looking for US "models" and I signed up. So I get a free US on Thursday. I'm so excited. A local community college US instructor will be doing it to do some training on staff. Sounds a little weird, but whatever.
3. Questions for the group?
4. What's your maternity leave plan? Is your partner taking leave as well? I get FMLA and that's it. I plan to take 12 weeks although I'm toying with the idea of coming back a week or two early and then doing shorter days/weeks for a few weeks? DH owns his own business so can't really take the time off. He will be working from home a bit but he is always very busy.
scm1011 my kids will not be staying home with me for a lot- hopefully! Due at the end of July. DD1 will start 4th grade roughly a month later. She will be in camps all summer, although there usually isn't many camps the week before school starts so she will be with me. DD2 will be in prek and I think they also have a week off before the new "year". So with any luck hopefully they will be at home for me for a week. Once school starts I do plan on picking up dd1 from school at 2:45pm to save on afterschool costs.
Thanks all for the concert comments. We can take an umbrella, and I've never been to the venue but I assume we can sit back far enough that it's not super loud. I didn't want to look like the bad mom for taking my baby somewhere totally not be baby friendly or something! She'll still be pretty young at that point though, so it could still be a game time decision on how we're feeling about it (and if we can get a babysitter).
You could always do the ear muffs for babies. I took my son to a college football game at 3 months, complete with crowd noise, cannon firing, band, etc. With the ear muffs on, he took a nap and didnt wake up at all. We also used these for a long plane trip at 7 months. I highly recommend (and I need to find them...).

pandorica - I am not doing professional maternity photos, but my H is pretty good with a camera and snapped some nice ones on our babymoon. I’d rather save my $$$ for newborn/first year photos because those are the photos I’ll actually use/display later on. To each her own of course!
Yeah we are definitely doing newborn/first year photos, I'm just trying to decide if I should squeeze in maternity too if it's not too late. I don't know that I'd actually display maternity photos once we have newborn etc. so it's probably worth it to save the money. I just don't want to look back and regret it!
Some photographers will discount if you do both maternity and newborn!

That is a key factor - there is nothing they could do if it were CMV or toxoplasmosis, there isn't an effective way to treat in utero. It would be a "wait and see" and prepare for the worst, hope for the best. Hence our decision not to do the amnio, at least at this point.

woowoo, (this is going to be a bit of a messy train-of-thought post) I'm so so so sorry your AS didn't go smoothly. Your frustration level and anxiety must be so high. It's so hard not to obsess over non-idea findings. During my first AS this pregnancy, part of the brain wasn't visible. It's all I thought about until the next scan. I wouldn't hesitate to ask if you can push up that next AS scan a week or so. I've found my MFM and other specialists to be very accommodating when I've inquired about testing earlier. I had an amnio with my last pregnancy after an extremely sh*tty AS, yet clear NIPT testing. The MFM wanted it done immediately after the scan so I could have results for the following week's appts, which was the soonest he could get me up to the Children's Hospital with their specialists. So I'm not sure if that might be a little reassuring? When it was really, really bad, the timeline for follow ups is much shorter. And it is totally understandable and perfectly normal to be scared, sad, and angry that this pregnancy isn't that "ideal," normal, non-eventful pregnancy that it should be. It's not fair.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week?
I continue to be tired, sore, and cranky. Got new lighting installed over the “nursery” side of the boys room, and started putting up the alphabet wall decals above the crib. My mom still has not planned my sprinkle, so it’s unclear if it’s going to happen at this point. Really regretting giving away so much of my older son’s stuff!
Have an appt with my neurosurgeon next week to go over my birth plan. It all went well last time, so fingers crossed I survive labor this time too.
Also have another ob appt and growth scan next week. Can’t wait to see the baby again!
3. Questions for the group?
4. What's your maternity leave plan? Is your partner taking leave as well?
I’m a SAHM. H gets 4 weeks paid leave, so he’s taking that. If I go early or deliver on time, his leave ends right before my son’s Easter break. My mom agreed to take off that week and help us out during the day, since I don’t think I’ll be ready to handle two boys on my own.
One of my main reasons of waiting until DS1 was in school full time to try for a second is because I knew I couldn’t handle two little ones at once. I’m grateful that DS is 5 and more independent now! Also happy he’s in full day K and definitely plan on signing him up for camp!
I'm full of questions today: has anyone ordered a rocker/glider from Wayfair? Buying without trying makes me nervous, but they seem to have some good deals. But maybe they're cheap for a reason.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Anatomy scan last week was clear. Placenta is anterior, which probably explains the lack of movement. I guess the cord has attached at the edge of the placenta so they want me to come back at 30 weeks for a growth scan. But Dr wasn't concerned.
Got a bunch of maternity clothes from my "step-sister". Her jeans are way more comfy than my target ones, so yay.
3. Questions for the group?
4. What's your maternity leave plan? Is your partner taking leave as well? Current plan is to take 12 weeks paid, like last time. I should chat with HR at some point to see if anything has changed in the policy in the last 7 years. DH doesn't really get any leave and hasn't made a plan yet.
DS will be 7 when the baby comes and will absolutely be going to his summer camp. I am not really concerned that it would be hard having him home with us all summer but I think he will be bored. Planning to take random days here and there and do fun weekday things with him.
I have only one PG photo of me from last time, which I kind of regret. My bro is starting a photog business so I said he could do mat and newborn photos for his portfolio.
1. How far along are you this week? 15 weeks tomorrow
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Nothing really, aside from the fact that I am already starting to really miss wine. Once it gets warm out, it'll be beer.
3. Questions for the group?
4. What's your maternity leave plan? Is your partner taking leave as well? I'm taking 12 weeks paid (combo of STD and PTO). J gets a week of paternity leave and will take a week of vacation.
1. How far along are you this week? 33w4d STM with twins
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Happy to make it one more week! On Friday I started losing my mucus plug and I continue to have infrequent contractions. MFM on Friday said they really like to see twins go to 34 weeks, and I feel like we'll get there at this point. And hopefully longer since 34 weeks coincides with DD's birthday. A larger gap between the events would be nice! Babies are still breech and transverse, so a c section is very likely the plan. OB last week told me that while my main concern is avoiding NICU time, I need to realize that at this gestation their long term outcome would be similar to a full term baby. So I appreciated the reality check. We've made it to a good place so far with twins! Csection would be scheduled for 37 weeks assuming I don't go into labor first.
Otherwise, we are mostly ready. I just went through DD's old clothes and pulled out the neutral stuff. I also hauled up the bottles from the basement to be sanitized. Just need to pack hospital bags and install car seats!
4. What's your maternity leave plan? Is your partner taking leave as well? I am entitled to 16 weeks at 100% pay. My H will take 2 weeks. DD will most definitely keep going to daycare. Maybe not for full days, but she needs the continuity and I will not be able to keep her adequately entertained with newborn twins.
Also, curious for 2nd+ time moms, if you currently send your kids to daycare, will they continue? DS will continue at daycare for a few reasons 1. we'll have to pay for it anyway or lose his spot, 2. to keep a sense of normalcy/routine and 3. the idea of entertaining him while also nursing a newborn every ~90 minutes sounds impossible. His days will definitely be shorter and I'm sure we'll keep him home from time to time to do trips to the beach or whatever, but I'm so relieved that I won't be juggling both.
I am planning on sending AJ to the sitter's as usual when 2.0 comes. He is a kid who gets super squirrely the more he's stuck at home (any more than a day and he goes stir crazy) and needs to be out doing stuff which I am not going to be able to swing with a newborn...he's going to have way more fun at the sitter's than he will at home with me and baby sister I'll probably pick him up earlier and keep him home on the weekdays J is off but overall keeping his routine will be helpful.
1. 19+ weeks 2. Had our growth scan yesterday and and everything looks good. Waiting for my second trimester energy...still so tired all the time. 4. I’m a SAHM so that’s my maternity leave. Kids will just be out of school when I’m due so scheduling lots of summer camps and activities. DH’s paternity leave is generous and as long as he’s on email he should be able to take as much time as needed.

Thanks so much KellyEasterbrook. I am unfortunately traveling the entire week prior and don't return home until Monday, and Friday of that week is the earliest they could get me in. We already have to drive to their other office 90 minutes away. She had said 4-5 weeks and we're going in right at 4.5 weeks, which will put me around 25 weeks at that point.

1. How far along are you this week? 21+4
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I have been having a lot of tailbone pain, which is uncomfortable and now have somehow managed to tweak my lower back so have been in a bit of pain when I have to stand or sit for too long. Hoping to get in to see a physiotherapist this week.
3. Questions for the group? None this week
4. What's your maternity leave plan? Is your partner taking leave as well? I will be staying at home after the birth and my husband will take 3 weeks.
3. Questions for the group? How much crap do I really need to bring to the hospital? I see lists that would require a Uhaul to get it all there. I prefer to not be stressed about that part of the process. So what's the least amount of crap I can get away with?
I brought very little. Comfy, nursing friendly clothes, my ipad, chargers, lip balm, and a couple snacks. Oh and baby's going home outfit. I knew I wouldn't be one of those people who washed and blew out their hair and put on make up in the hospital so I didn't bring anything like that. The only thing extra I'll bring this time is a boppy. The hospital (well mine at least) was well stocked with everything else I needed.

I have had an issue with literally every piece of furniture I've bought from Wayfair--missing or wrong pieces, scratched, dents. They do have excellent customer service, though.

2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Bloody show yesterday, lost my mucus plug overnight, started having regular contractions right afterward. I was all, yeah, let's do this! Then they stopped. Womp womp.
4. What's your maternity leave plan? Is your partner taking leave as well?
DH and I are both independent contractors who work at home, for the same company. So no paid leave, but we also have infinite flexibility. Neither of us plan to take a firm leave. I probably won't work at all for the first few weeks, but after that, if something easy comes up on one of my projects, I should be able to hand the baby off to DH while I take care of work. The baby will probably start at daycare around 3-4 months, at least part-time.

Maternity photos - We took some "DIY Ghetto Maternity Photos" with my first. I'm happy enough with how they turned out. I'm definitely not a professional photographer, but I know just enough to tell DH how to take a decent picture of me.
Keeping my toddler in daycare - Absolutely, for all the reasons everyone else already mentioned. It's hard to get toddlers to settle in at daycare - I definitely don't want to take her out and have to start over with that process in a few months! Plus they're learning a letter of the alphabet every week, and I don't want her to miss D through N.
Glider - I got a basic glider from amazon, and I've been totally happy with it.
I brought very little. Comfy, nursing friendly clothes, my ipad, chargers, lip balm, and a couple snacks. Oh and baby's going home outfit. Thank you! Several people in my other group said makeup was an essential. You know what? There's no way in hell I'm putting makeup on after giving birth. Not a chance.
I've come to realize hospital bags are basically TETO beyond knowing yourself and your hospital. I kept reading to bring tons of snacks, but my hospital had awesome food options and a ton of stuff nearby. I did want my own toiletries and makeup and felt so much better once I got ready. I brought my whole pump with me out of panic, lol.
The essentials are really just comfy clothes, chargers, and an outfit for the baby.

2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? VENT: I have strep throat for the 2nd time in 2 months. This baby has completely stolen my immune system.
3. Questions for the group? No... I'm just here to whine.
4. What's your maternity leave plan? Is your partner taking leave as well? I'll be taking 12 weeks. My fiancé has a weird work schedule but if it works out the way we're hoping it will, he will be home for a few weeks and when I go back to work he will stay home 2 days a week for as long as possible.

Like others said, it really is to each their own. I totally brought makeup and put it on while I was in labor. I felt better for having done so and I look pale, washed out, and sick without it. I blew my hair dry and straightened it before going to the hospital for my induction, and brought dry shampoo and a brush for in the hospital. I have shampoo and conditioner packed in case I go into labor while at work and DH needs to bring my bag.
But yea, the essentials for yourself are comfy clothes, charger for your phone, whatever toiletries you like. I also think it partly depends on how far away you live from the hospital. I live literally 7 minutes away, so if I forget anything, I can send my husband home to get it.
I still think the max amount of luggage should be one weekender/duffle bag for each adult, and the diaper bag for baby. I cant stand when people practically move into the labor and delivery rooms and I'm tripping all over their bags.

I took my makeup with me - lipgloss and mascara at a minimum. There were pictures taken and I’m so glad I had at least basic makeup on.

I like that one (and the price). Of course that's out of stock now!
Yes just set up an alert and they will let you know once it’s back in stock. It took like two weeks last time, but I received it in four days after ordering!
