pooh8402 hope you're home and resting! Is there any way you could be charge nurse or precept if your OB wants to do light duty (completely realizing that neither of those include sitting for the entire shift)? A friend of mine did this for a few weeks on the floor I used to work on.

Nope. I'm not experienced enough to be charge nurse (I havent even been in L&D for 2 years yet), aand they're the busiest people on my floor. And precepting doesnt mean less work, because I still have to supervise (besides, I haaaaaaate precepting). Thanks for the suggestions though!

I imagine being charge on L&D is still really busy! I tried to precept as much as possible when I was towards the end of my pregnancy with DS (totally know it's not less work, but in my experience less constant running around). I don't work inpatient any more, but know how hard it can be to work on a busy floor while pregnant - some of the hardest days I have ever had! Hope some rest does you and baby well over the next few days .
