I think part of my problem is that it's not even because I'm worried about what's going to happen so much as being worried I can't handle the pain. I am a big pain wuss and it just seems so scary! I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for that "so uncomfortable I don't care" point to happen before I go into labor ๐
I've had plenty of patients get their epidurals well before they're actually in pain. That is totally an option at my hospital and something you can probably request.
I'm a huge wuss too and requested my epidural about 1.5 hour after my waters spontaneously broke in the hospital. It was glorious.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week?
I can't believe I'm at the halfway point now!
3. Questions for the group?
I want to coordinate bedding for a twin bed and crib in the same room. Suggestions?
4. What does your ideal family size look like? Are you and your partner in agreement? We always wanted 3-4 kids but my mental health concerns had us stopping at 2 (despite wanting more). So we are both very happy with our surprise #3 =)
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Iโve had the worst cold the past couple of days. I miss being able to breathe and take more effective cold meds.
Met with my neurosurgeon this morning! I was born with hydrocephalus, so my pregnancy and labor is being closely monitored. But I successfully delivered vaginally the first time with no complications, so weโre all feeling confident that I can do the same this time. Of course, Iโm open to c-section if deemed medically necessary. Canโt be any worse than brain surgery! ๐
Game plan is to be admitted as soon as I start having regular contractions, and getting epidural ASAP. So anyone who is worried about pain management can definitely ask for the epidural sooner!
Have another ultrasound on Wednesday! Then a follow up with my ob on Thursday. Getting closer!

Iโm pretty sure weโre done at 2 after this one. We want to stay in NYC and canโt afford a bigger apartment or more educational costs. If I magically became wealthy and could guarantee a girl, I might be willing to try for a third. But this pregnancy has been tougher on my body and Iโm not sure Iโd want to go through that again.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I have my second trimester screening this week. And coming up with a name is proving to be quite difficult.
3. Questions for the group? nope
4. What does your ideal family size look like? Are you and your partner in agreement? Well, this baby was a surprise. DH wasn't sure he wanted a second one. I did, but I wanted to wait until DS was 2. We actually have a girl embryo frozen. We'll keep her on ice for a while longer before we decide what we want to do. A third kid is definitely not in the cards. We are done after this one is born. DH will be getting snipped.
We've decided that DS's name is going to be Sean, but we're struggling between middle name options (all family names). Want to weigh on (if you have not already)? I posted a poll late last week on MMM:

I don't think so, but I just spent $50 on my son's coming home outfit. Same thing for my first. So if you're a sucker, then so am I. My first easily fit into his (he was born at 7#3oz and wore NB for about 6 weeks) and if this one comes early, then it may end up being too big!

1. How far along are you this week? 27.6 with twins today
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Well, good news is that I have enough time to post this week. Bad news is that's because I was admitted to the hospital this morning with pre-term labor. Contractions have stopped with tocolytics, but it's hour by hour. So sad to be here again, but at least we're past the point of viability.
3. Questions for the group? Looks like I'll be having a c-section sooner rather than later. Anyone with experience have recovery tips? I'll want to get to the NICU as fast as possible.
]4. What does your ideal family size look like? Are you and your partner in agreement?ย After all our losses, this is our last shot. Hoping to bring two home. DH and I would both be happy with that.

icedcoffee For what it's worth, Panorama tried to pull that crap with me, too, even though they are in-network. My insurance went after Panorama and got them to correctly resumbit/bill!

Thatโs good to know. Mines through Counsyl(Myriad). Iโm hoping they at least bill it as in network so I donโt need to hit the out of network deductible. Iโd still need to hit the in network deductible but I plan to hit tbat this year anyway.
Iโm sorry youโre starting to have contractions. I hope they can keep those babies cooking a little longer!

That makes me feel better! I was just looking at adorable swaddle sets too ๐ Fingers crossed the baby isn't huge, for several reasons!
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I'm having horrible pubic symphysis pain. Luckily DH is a physical therapist so I went into the clinic today when he had a break and he worked on me for a while and it really helped. But man. There are days when I seriously cannot walk by the end of the day. This pain has been so awful that I just really really want to be done.
3. Questions for the group? Anyone here work freelance? I do, and most of the time I have shorter shoots (I'm a photographer) but sometimes have all day shoots, and I'm suddenly freaking out about how I'll do this with 2 kids. With DD I used a home daycare nearby, the lady was so nice and let me just do drop in days when I needed them, but she's closing up her daycare next year and I'm suddenly freaking out. Any advice? I'm also worried because DD will be in preschool and suddenly trying to figure out drop offs and pick ups and another baby too and working just seems impossible, even though I'm sure it's not.
4. What does your ideal family size look like? Are you and your partner in agreement? We both come from bigger families (DH is one of 4, I'm one of 5) and thought initially that we wanted 4. It has not been an easy road though, especially for getting #2. I'm down to only one ovary/tube now and I don't know how easy it would be to get another. I think we're open to it but I'm also very happy with what we'll have. This pregnancy has also been so miserable that I'm not sure I want to go through it all again, honestly.
greengardener my OB never told me to do kick counts, but I still started once I hit 3rd tri ๐คทโโ๏ธ I wanted to have a better idea of if she wasn't acting normally or something. I do them once a night around the same time, usually takes 20 min or less.

FishChicks, I will keep everything crossed that those babies stay baking!
Just in case, though, I'd say to move as soon as possible after the surgery. Bring comfortable clothes--some say they preferred something lower and some something higher. I personally wore maternity pants and liked that they went over my stomach and didn't touch my incision. I'm not sure how it might be with NICU babies and nursing (if that's your plan or an option), but I was able to take pain meds and nurse, so if you can, take the meds, especially the stool softener. The son of one of my closest friends was in the NICU for a while and the best thing she advises is to have someone specifically looking after you to make sure you have the energy to do what you need to do.

Thank you so much! You touched on one of my worries which was no pain meds with nursing. I was worried a ton about that, especially since I have a chance of requiring hysterectomy due to History of PPH and Asherman's. Was scared I wouldn't be able to do anything for them or see them for a while.
I have everything crossed for you FishChicks! Hope so hard those babies cook longer for you.
You can add me to the list of recent deliveries! My water broke Sunday morning at 34+2, and baby boys were here around 1:30 that afternoon (good grief, was it really just yesterday?). Iโd like to post a birth story soon, but so far we are all well. Boys weighed 6 lbs and 5 lbs 7 oz, came out pink and screaming and breathing on their own. Taking bottles like champs, and weโre hoping they wonโt be released too far behind us.
1. How far along are you this week? 31+2 with twin boys
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? My 22 month old has started biting. So far just H's face and my belly. Man oh man, does she have a set of chompers. Her canines just came all the way in, so I'm wondering if she's working on her molars.
Also, it's weird that I have less than 3 full weeks of work left.
3. Questions for the group?
4. What does your ideal family size look like? Are you and your partner in agreement? Hahaha. I always said one and see how it goes. I quickly decided I wanted a second. H was always 0-1. Our daughter's been awesome until recently (see biting above lol), and FIL passed when we were pregnant with her. I think he realized that while he's not super tight with his brother, it was helpful not to be alone dealing with his dad's death. We said two max at that point. Went for #2, and am now pregnant with #s 2 and 3. Financially we are super super super tight for the next 5 or more years. Eep!
