She was very happy with her first individual and first group appointments. We will continue with the group, and we are trying to get a good individual appointment time.
mae0111 - DD is the same about missing school. We found a ped who will see us at 7:15 or 4:30 and on some Saturdays, and that helped because we see him in between specialists to recap and plan. I also had luck explaining that DD really could not miss school and doctors working her in when there were not appointments.
We have a weekly biofeedback appointment and it’s a beat down. But ... hoping it helps.
What’s a lactose breath test? DD has always been tested through GI biopsy so curious about less invasive options.
Amazing news! DD’s group leader justchad an opening for individual sessions after school every other week! So now we’ve got a set time slot. It’s $$ and insurance doesn’t cover it, but hopefully it will be worth it.
2chatter - the breath test was easy. Breathe into a bag, drink something awful, then breathe into the bag every 30 mins for 3 hours. It’s time consuming because your in the dr office for 3 hours, but easy. I have heard that it will register an allergy, but not necessarily an intolerance.
I know therapy helped my nephew a lot. He was the one that would have 3 hour tantrums. There was a bit of parenting strategies that the psychiatrist gave them as well. He still gives them trouble but I would say 50-70% improved which is good since my sister was in tears weekly with it.
