Have this been discussed? Meghan wrote affirmations on bananas for Bristol sex workers.
While visiting Bristol’s One25 — a charity that provides support and resources for women who feel trapped in street sex work, addiction, homelessness and other issues — the Duchess of Sussex had the idea of sharing messages with the women. Instead of writing the notes on paper, she decided to write them on bananas. While helping volunteers put together care packages with food, Meghan took inspiration from a school cafeteria worker in the U.S. who wrote motivational messages to children.
“I saw this project this woman had started somewhere in the States on a school lunch program,” Meghan told reporters. “On each of the bananas she wrote an affirmation, to make the kids feel really, like, empowered. It was the most incredible idea – this small gesture.” She grabbed a marker, and said, “I am in charge of the banana messaging,” and began to write words of encouragement on the bananas. Some of the messages included, “You are special,” “You are strong,” “You are brave” and “You are loved.” With each one, she drew a small heart.
“That really touched me — and I’m not even a royalist,” One25 CEO Anna Smith told reporters. “She had clearly listened and heard what we are all about — that we don’t judge, we simply offer the service and unconditional love. She totally got it.”
The food will be delivered directly to women by One 25′s “Yellow Van,” which supports around 150 women living on Bristol’s streets. The truck stocks food, blankets, first aid, safety alarms, condoms and a safe space to talk. The charity is hoping that the royal visit will help raise more awareness and funding to further help the women of Bristol.
The color looks so different in the two photos, but either way it does work for her.
I would love to own a pair of those shoes.
What on earth is going on with those pockets/buttons?? The stitching on the bust is a little weird too. This is my favorite color and I wish I could love that dress but the details are just not working.

I just noticed the bust stitching - you're right, that would look WAY better without it.

I think she had good intentions but IMO it was extremely tone deaf. Writing twee messages on bananas (bananas!) to sex workers?
Yeah I think she genuinely meant well too and I think it's good that she's not afraid to get involved with organizations that some people might think are too controversial for a member of the royal family to be associated with. But I can see why some people think this is patronizing...kind of an unusual misstep for her.

I cringed when I saw this. I also think she meant well, but it came off as anything but. She mentioned she heard about an elementary school doing this. That's cute. These women are adults who have been exploited. Writing "you are strong" on a banana of all things is just not smart.

I just noticed the bust stitching - you're right, that would look WAY better without it.
I’ve seen that same bust detail on a few European sewing patterns I’ve come across in the past couple of years. It’s apparently a different way to do bust darts. The inset flap pocket detail is a bit odd as well. It looks like she wanted to wear a coat dress, so instead had a sweater dress styled to imitate a coat dress.
I do like the colour on her though. And those are great boots. I’m not generally a fan of chunky heeled boots but those are just right imo.

Well Meghan is in charge of the banana messaging so she can write whatever she darn well pleases.
(Sorry, I shouldn't joke about a serious subject but that line sounds ridiculous)

Yes, I was looking for the opening - the buttons, the zipper, something to indicate it was a coat.
Love the color, the black accessories and the boots, though!

Good.
With normal, non-royals I can sympathize with the fact that surrendering your driver's license can be difficult to accept since it may mean the loss of significant freedom and independence, but that is not the case with Prince Philip who undoubtedly has a bevy of personal drivers at his disposal any time he needs them.
That was probably not a fun conversation for whoever had to have it. I wonder if that was palace staff or Charles/Anne/etc like it would be in a "regular" family.
