Warmest of Warm Socks for Rome.

I am going to Rome in 2 weeks. Per the suggestions of this board, I bought a pair of booties to wear walking about. I love them so far! I need warmer socks though. My feet get so cold all the time and being outside, even if it isn't too cold out, will not be super comfortable for me. 

What would you suggest for the warmest, most comfy socks for walking out there? It looks as if Rome is more of a walking city than even Paris or London (I did both of those in summer so there was no issue)

I really like Bombas. They warm and also support your arch. I don't know if they would be too thick for booties. I only have the hiking socks. Smartwool makes thinner "lifestyle" socks that are merino wool and warm, but I don't know if they would be warm enough for you.

I like fuzzy short socks or fleece lined ones.

I typically go for a basic black wool crew sock when I'm out walking around all day in the winter. Mine are Helly Hansen, but that's just because that's what the sporting goods store carried. In the States, I'd probably hit up someplace like REI and pick out something in thick wool in a neutral color.

If you truly want the "Warmest of Warm" it's these, though you have to size up in your shoes because they're so thick!

Unfortunately they're no longer available, but Smartwool makes one that's comparable (REI's were softer and slightly warmer, and I'm mad they're discontinued). FWIW, I only wear these in Antarctica or when I'm going to be out all day in temps below 10°F. Probably overkill for Rome!

What booties did you get? I like the wool socks from Costco. I think we walked about 10 miles a day in Rome. You definitely need to be comfortable!

So...I ended up bringing my problem up with my mom the other day, because I was still not finding what I liked locally.

Seriously, she dropped of like 15 pair of Smartwool socks, all sorts of kinds. Fuzzy on the inside, thin, medium, pretty and ugly colors, crew socks, etc. She lost a lot of weight (and they are all floppy on her now) and had all of these from Sierra Trading Post (they sell seconds). So...smartwool it is! I like a lot of them so far.
