So, it looks like DD3 is over the 40" mark. I think she grew just a tiny bit more and it looks to me like she's clearly there now. We'll see what they say in the parks and I am fine either way. If she does indeed measure up, would you have a newly four year old ride Soarin'?
What about Test Track?
I'm going to gauge Splash & Big Thunder based on how she is doing with other rides.
I thought she should skip Star Tours. I am also thinking of having my sensitive-to-scary-things 6 year old skip Star Tours.
My new 4 year old son loved Soarin but hated Test Track, as the car does go quite fast. Soarin has moments that made him nervous, but there are no big drops or anything
My 4yo loved 7DMT (at 3+) and loves the 40”+ new wooden roller coaster at our local amusement park, so I would definitely do TT, Soarin’ and BTMR. I probably wouldn’t do Star Tours but I haven’t ridden on ST in ~12 years myself and I will only do Splash in warm weather (it was cold our last visit and closed the visit before they anyway).
Soarin' is the only kind of roller coaster that DD can handle. She doesn't like it but she can ride it without freaking out. DH and I love it.
Test Track is fast and jerky. DH and I didn't really like it...it's counter part in DL is so much better. DD of course cried on Test Track. For a long time.
Star Tours isn't even remotely scary. DD likes this one, too. She just leaves the glasses off.
Super depends on the kid. My DD hated TT (and the similiar Cars ride st DL) and Soarin at both 4 and 6. My son barely made 40” at almost 3 years and loved both TT and Soarin.

My kids are both terrified of the new star tours. The loved the old version but the new one scares them. My 5 year old doesn't like test track but my 8 year old loves it. Both like Soarin.

My 5 year old did not like Test Track, Star Tours, Slinky Dog, or Seven Dwarves, so he's not a thrill-seeker. He gets motion sick easily like I do. I also found Slinky Dog and Star Tours too intense. I had to keep my eyes closed for much of Star Tours. I'm officially a wuss I would've liked to try Soarin' but the wait times were too long and we weren't able to get a FastPass.
ETA - the content of Star Tours isn't scary, but it's really jerky with a LOT of fast visual directional shifts.
fortnightlily, good to know! I'm a wuss about rides, too. I have never liked Great America-style big rides at all. However, I remember liking Big Thunder and Space Mountain at Disney when I was in high school. So...I think that's about the level I can handle.
I have no idea yet about my 4 year old. Last time we went to a fair, she loved the rides and wanted to be like the big kids, but things change fast with kids and those were small rides. We're going to see how she handles the first rides we do. It will obviously be easier if she can ride things with the family and not have to wait and do rider switch, but we'll see.
At this point, I'm definitely planning to have her skip Star Tours. I've got to watch more ride videos!
I'm hoping she likes Seven Dwarves. It will be funny if I'm the one freaking out, and the kids are all fine.

My kids did everything at 3-4 (and 40 inches) and the only issue was Tower of Terror. DD1 Hated it. DD2 looooved it. Star Tours was actually a huge favorite at that age. I think we went on it 5-6 times the trip DD2 turned 4.

My dd is a scaredy cat. She was 6 when we went (41 inches), and she LOVED Soarin, Star Tours, Test Track, and was even fine during Mission Space (Mission to Mars) that made the adults all sick and freaked out. She WAS freaked out by the Haunted Mansion, and was TRAUMATIZED by Tower of Terror. She flat out refused to ride 7DMT or any other rollercoaster other than the Goofy one, and even that one took convincing to get her on. But she was fine with the virtual reality rides.
Dinosaur is 40" and I don't recommend it for younger kids. DD2 was fairly traumatized and she's a daredevil. She's now 7 and just did Indiana Jones at DL (same ride system, but similar dark and loud theme) and came off in tears.
