pooh8402 , I think I'd go with the CM. I just think you'll get more use out of the CM and also I don't know how "hardy" Chicco strollers are. I think having 2 seats will be nicer if both kids want to nap.
Although that listing is for the regular CM and a few people here have said they wouldn't get the regular one (I have the GT and love it).
Double strollers are such a racket. LOL
that's my biggest hesitation. if it was a GT, I would jump on it. E1 still naps, though he is starting to refuse them. If I were still in the Houston area (more access to zoos, large museums, etc, and more football tailgating, stuff where we would be out all day) I think it would be a no brainer.

I think I'm leaning toward the Chicco.
I'd ask the CM person if they'd accept either $150 or $175. Worth a shot and more in line with the rare regular CM Doubles I've seen listed.
Blahhhh okay I got the go ahead from DH for a double. Now I can't decide. For what it's worth, DS1 (henceforth known as E1) is 3y7m and little brother E2 is due in a month. E1 hasn't ridden in a stroller in over a year at least, but I can totally see him getting jealous of little brother and deciding he wants to ride again.
I can get a Chicco Bravo for 2 (a sit n stand) for $175 locally at my Once Upon A Child (assuming it's still there, which it was last week). Pros: accepts my car seat seamlessly, allows E to hop on and off, small footprint. Cons: Limited space for him when the car seat is in there. The seat in front does not recline far.
Or I can see if this one is available and have a family member bring it up when they come to visit after baby is born. houston.craigslist.org/bab/d/houston-city-mini-double-stroller/6794794163.html Pros: all the great benefits of the CM double strollers; these things are popular for a reason. if E1 ends up wanting to ride again, I can see us using this for a long time. if he doesn't, I can probably get my money back. Cons: bigger, slightly more expensive, asks family to collect/pay/transport the stroller.
I don’t know. To me that sounds like a ton of money to spend because your older kid might be jealous. My daughters are 19 months apart and I have yet to use the double stroller. My oldest has preferred her push car or wagon for walks around the neighborhood so we’ve done that and I’ve worn the baby (and I was not a huge baby wearer with my oldest). At this point DD2 is almost big enough to ride in the wagon. When we did go some place where we wanted both of them in strollers (Sesame Place) we took two strollers which worked out better anyway since I took the baby to the baby care center a few times.
Ugh, my friend (who has a 3 month old and an almost 5 year old) is trying to convince me that I will neeeeeeeed a double stroller with kids 3.5 years apart. She didn't get one and is feeling pangs of regret, with 4.5+ years between her kids. She has expensive taste in strollers though, and a willingness to spring for them, so I am trying to take it with a grain of salt.
On one hand I want to see if I reallllllly need a double. OTOH, if I wait until I really do, then I won't have time to shop for good sales or watch for a unicorn of a well priced used one.
I guess if this is the one piece of baby gear that I really obsess over with this kid, I'm still ahead of last time when I had to pick stroller(s), a car seat, a crib, a crib mattress, a brand of bottles, a glider, and 40,000 other things for which I had zero context!
I'd consider looking at the b-agile double. It's similar to the design of the CM but half the price. It has an adjustable handle bar and the bar across the bottom is arched instead of straight across (made it more comfortable for my very tall husband). DD is almost 3 and DS is 8 months. We used it around the neighborhood last summer and at Disney a couple weeks ago. I expect we will use it more next summer with more outdoor activities.
In all honesty, we've use the carrier and single stroller as much as we've used the double. We could probably get away without the double entirely. But the b-agile is $250 now for the red color (and I think was $200 when we got it) and for that amount of money it has been nice to have the option to throw them both in a stroller and just go.
I wouldn’t bother getting a double with kids 3 years apart. I would plan to wear baby on the rare occasions the 3 year old needed a stroller. Or plan to have a cheap second single stroller if two adults would be present.
I have twins and I didn’t start using our double stroller until the kids were about 18 months. Before that I wore one baby and used a single stroller (snap n go at first, then a regular umbrella). Then I used the double daily until about 3.5 (we walked to/from daycare) until we stopped pretty abruptly ever using it.

She is crazy. My kids are 4.5 years apart and I didn’t even consider getting a double. I’m one year in and I can’t think of any situations where I wish I’d had one, including some pretty extensive travel.
I’ve worked pretty hard to train B to be a good walker though. Partially because I hate dealing with strollers.
I hadn’t consideed the wheels on the GT an “upgrade.” I think my entire City Mini is wonderful and wondered why everyone got the GT. 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
We live in the city and use the stroller about three miles every day.
Thanks for chiming in. I often hear people say how great the GT is (and I agree, I love the single) and that they’d never get the regular, but I never really hear complaints about the regular. I’m glad you love it. The regular may be “good enough” for us too!

I have the GT single and my friend has the Britax B-Agile single (or whatever the one that is the City Mini regular knockoff) and the GT is definitely a worthwhile upgrade between the adjustability and wheels. After a year or so, her wheels looked very worn and mine didn’t, since they are more like tires and more suited for (light, admittedly) terrain vs. indoors, sidewalks, etc. I think the wheel difference is probably even more pronounced with a double when pushing twice (or nearly twice) the kid weight.

Just gonna chime in that mine are 19m apart and i used the double (bob) a lot, even though I baby wore (still do) a ton. Now at 5 and 3 we still use the double a lot (probably monthly?)- zoo trips, the mall when I’m by myself, the fair, bringing it to Disney in a couple of weeks, etc. I can’t really weigh in on stroller types bc I had both a single and double bob, but I definitely think having one is worthwhile, even for older kids.

I also love my City Mini and don't get the hate. We live literally in the mountains (of NJ, but mountains nonetheless, lol) and walk our son everywhere--parks, trails, unpaved roads, etc--and the wheels have been fine. He actually started in it since it has full recline, so it's been 18 months with no issue.

FWIW I hated my single City Mini. It was the only stroller we got (except for a Chicco Keyfit Caddy for when DD was a newborn) and we sold it by the time she was 9 months and got a Bob. The wheels are horrible which makes the push not good at all. Neither DH or I liked going anywhere with it and it was almost a "alright who has to push the stroller this time?" whenever we did. Even places like the mall that have smooth floors we didn't like the stroller. The Bob we got is now over 5 years old and still amazing. We'll still use it for 3 or 4 more years with #3 coming soon. I would definitely either get the GT or get a Bob especially if you're pushing a double! You won't regret spending a little more money!

Every time I come into this thread I feel more confused about whether I want a stroller and which one to get. LOL
One thing I do know is that I don't want a Bob. I know they're amazing, but way too big for me. I don't even know if the double would fit in my H's trunk.
I'm waffling on whether or not to get one, but will probably cave (Cal will be 2.5 when DD arrives). I figure I'll wear the baby and push C in our City Mini GT single to start and see how much of a PITA it is. Part of my consideration is that we're city people and a double stroller just seems like a logistical nightmare on the bus/train. If we do get a double it will need to be a tandem and the City Select I'm eyeing is crazy $$ (and like you mentioned, rarely available used).
I do think the infant adapter is kind of vital though. The ability to transport the baby in the carseat was kind of huge for us (seamless transfer from stroller to house to car, etc), and if I take the double stroller plunge I would make sure that is a feature I can use. I'm surprised there hasn't been a work around/new adapter for your infant seat.
It's not even my specific infant seat. Apparently no adapters are available for city mini double strollers made earlier than 2016 which makes buying used really hard. Unless I'm misunderstanding, but this is what I've seen written in a few places.
Also--I no longer live in the city, but my understanding from a few people is that the side by side is actually easier to maneuver then a tandem. Apparently tandems are really long and clumsy. Someone who lives in a city should be able to weigh in on that though.
I don't think this is true. I have a double (side by side) city mini GT and I have adapters for a cybex. My stroller is from either 2011 or 2012. It was given to me used by another twin mom and i bought the adapters separately.

My kids are 3 years apart and the only time we ever needed a double was at Disney and we rented a strolller. When #2 was tiny we used the snap and go or had her in the ergo. As she got bigger we just had the girls share. #2 would go in the back of the CM GT and #1 would sit in the front. It worked fine. They are 5.5 and 2.5 and occasionally still share. It’s tight (#1 is 95th % for height), but we can make work.

My kids are now almost 6 and 3.5. I have a CMGT double I found used on FB in amazing condition. I have used that and still use it too many times to count. My 6 year old is very impulsive, so if she has a seat she is so much better at a festival, the mall, etc. we took it to Disney. We go to Florida 2x a year and bring it for walking down the main drag with shops and restaurants. I couldn’t have survived with out it! We even used it last week on a trip to the mall.
My kids are 3 years apart and while we do have a double chariot for running and biking, We don’t use it for outings. We either carried the baby or my h carried ds1 if needed. We have a hiking backpack that we used for really long days and either kid could ride in that. I think there were maybe 2 times I wished we had one.

I have the regular City Mini double and we looooooove it. DD is 3.5 and we still use it daily since we have a 0.8 mile walk to/from daycare. We looked at the GT too, but I actually preferred the regular. I'm one of those people who had a hell of a time maneuvering a tandem, although higher end tandems like the UBV are probably an exception to the "tandems are beasts" rule.
DD is getting more independent and I'm thinking about getting the glider board for our single City Mini for outings, but we'd still use the double for daycare.
I ordered it! I have no idea if I will need it or not, but I ordered it. $350 is the price of it used on a lot of BST pages so I figure it's not too big of a loss if I change my mind. We'll see!

Thanks for sharing the deal!
I just pulled the trigger, too. I agree its a good deal and I kind of just don't want to think about it anymore lol. Thanks, hamster!

That's kind of where I'm at too. I asked Calvin to talk to a friend of his, who has a 1.5 and a 3 year old, and a similar lifestyle to ours, but I'm thinking of pulling the trigger and if I really don't use it, I can always sell it for nearly what I'd pay for it.
