UPDATE: Still need decor but removing the cabinet over the toilet, paint the vanity and new handles made such a difference! The vanity is in rough shape but this will do for now đ
Any suggestions for our tiny master bathroom? Things I am considering: -paint walls -remove the above toilet cabinet since we donât use it -paint the vanity or replace it if I can find something cheap -find something for awkward empty wall to the right of the entry (across from a shower).
Pictures from the doorway
Pictures from sitting on the vanity
Things to consider: -we have extra floor tiles if the new vanity has a different foot print -current vanity is 10.5â on the left and canât go much bigger because of the toilet, 28â from corner to in front of the sink, and 13.5â on the right. -there are 27.5â between the end of the vanity and door (picture taken from standing in front of the toilet) -the vanity top is granite but scrap pieces and there is a weird line where you can see they joined them together so Iâm not attached to keeping it

I'd get rid of the cabinet. You can always place a shelf in that area or a picture. Definitely some paint - smaller bathrooms are good for fun colours or you could do half tile, half paint. I'd definitely change the vanity top or see if someone can find a way of making it look better with a different seam colour. The sink cabinet colour is fine.

The seam drives me crazy! But we are hopefully doing a bathroom redo in 2-5 years so trying to keep this on the low end đ
The master bathroom and hall/kids bathroom share a wall. Right now the kids is twice the size and Iâd like to change that so the master can have the tub.
But we will have 3 kids so maybe itâs a good thing that bathroom is bigger.
Could you make a pedestal sink work in there? That would open it up a bit. (I can't tell - is that a window above the sink (if you were looking from the toilet)?
If you keep the vanity but replace the vanity top - I would go with an undermount sink.
The cabinet above the toilet looks strange to me. Agree that shelves would look nice.

Yes, it is a window above the sink, thatâs why the mirror is in a kind of weird spot.
I need some kind of storage in there so a pedestal sink wouldnât work unless we kept the weird cabinet. My thinking on removing the cabinet is that it would open up the room some.

Iâd keep the vanity and repaint or refinish it and replace the hardware. The countertop is small enough that you can do a remnant countertop with nice material for pretty cheap.

Color suggestion for the vanity?
All of the hardware in the bathroom (including in the shower) is oil rubbed bronze. I'm happy to replace or just paint it. I do have some extra drawer pulls from our kitchen face lift (another room on our to renovate list) that I could use.
Iâm also planning on painting the walls in here but for some reason the vanity doesnât bother me in this bathroom.
Long term Iâd like just a shower, toilet and vanity in it so we can take most of the area that currently has the toilet/vanity for the master bathroom.

Iâd paint the vanity white-ish and get some bronze knobs/handles to tie to the kitchen. Iâd remove the toilet cabinet and do a light wall color like maybe Palladian blue or sea salt. I just found these ideas on Pinterest but think theyâd go with the tile while freshening up the room.

I painted my bathroom Benjamin Moore's Thunderbird and really like it...not sure how well it would mesh with the beige, though. Honestly, I'd be tempted to change out the flooring since that's what you see the most from the doorway. Even some remnants or clearance of wood-look tile or something would be good.

I'm not confident in my ability to lay tile and wonder if that labor would add a lot to the cost....

Iâd remove the cabinet and maybe install shelves in its place. Iâd def put towel hooks across from the shower.
Iâd be careful with painting, color wise. Itâs such a small space that I think you want to keep it very light. I also had a really hard time with blues in a small bath with warm tones - it was not flattering and ended up going light griege (sw worldly grey).
With the layout, Iâm not sure youâll be able to find a cheap vanity replacement so Iâd just leave that as is until you are ready to spend $$ for a custom piece to maximize space.
Honestly, I'd paint the walls, take down the weird back-of-toilet cabinet and put up a shelf or two and then I'd live with it for the next two years until the big renovation. I'm not big on throwing money into short-term temporary renovations though unless they are necessary for use/function, or very inexpensive.
I wouldn't do a lot, since you plan to do a more major reno in the foreseeable future. When we were in that position, I painted the vanity (yours would look nice white), painted the walls, replaced the cabinet hardware, and didn't do a whole lot else. I'd take down the cabinet over the toilet because it's kind of looming and ominous and weird and stuck-in-there. You could do floating shelves or just nothing above the toilet.
We have a lot of warm tan in our house, in the form of carpet. I tend to do muddy greens and blues with it. I don't think anything that skews too gray looks as good. I have both Sea Salt in my house, and Quietude, which is on the same card as Rainwashed. That chip is one of my favorites.

this and you may find you can live with it even longer and prioritize another project.
Wow what a difference! It looks amazing. I want to paint my vanity and switch out handles too. How hard was the painting?
It would have been easier if I wasnât pregnant but really it wasnât bad.
-I got this kit and lightly sanded 3 time (once with each level of sandpaper)
-primed and dried overnight -used putty -sanded with the 220 grit -primed again in the morning -painted 2 coats of paint (1st coat at night after the 2nd coat of primer, 2nd coat late morning the next day)

It looks great! I don't think Sea Salt will be too dark. We have it in a few different rooms in our house with differing amounts of light coming in and they all look nice.
