I think you should all buy Bombas socks. I bought my H some for Xmas and bought myself some (running ankle socks) and found them very cushy and comfy. Get you some.
I don't understand our taxes. I really don't. I understand what deductions been eliminated / capped and how those affect us, plus standard deduction and credit changes. I also understand that our taxable income increased (both because of a 10K increase between the 2 of us and because we lost a lot of deductions). What I don't understand is how we had 3K less withheld than the previous year. Neither of us changed anything.
We don't owe, but it seems that our tax liability increased as a result of the tax law. I'm too lazy to find last year's stuff so I'm hoping you can tell me instead.

The withholding tables changed, that's why. Which is also why lots of people who are used to getting refunds are owing instead (assuming that other changes didn't change things a lot).

That, I know. I just don't have the information for how the tables changed. Like, I can't compare them side to side, so the whole thing is a black box.

Who else watched Abducted in Plain Sight? We watched it last night, and I have so many questions. And I still get the ick shudders if I think about it too much.

I'm a Feetures sock brand fan. I buy good running shoes, but have always bought cheap flats for work. My feet decided that was no longer an option, and I ended up wearing my running shoes a couple days last week. We spent an obscene amount of money yesterday to get each of us two pairs of work shoes for people with bad feet.
Just woke up from a nap. We have an annoying neighbor who parties, and who doesnt care when building security talks to him, and apparently his landlord isn't willing to do anything about it, so I didnt get much sleep last night.
I LOVE Feetures, probably more than anyone should love socks. I’ve been thinking about Bombas, but if they’re no good for running then I’ll just stick with Feetures.
We had to put our cat down today. It came out of the blue - saddle thrombus, in which a blood clot from the heart breaks loose and causes paralysis in his hindquarters. Abysmal prognosis, even with intensive state-of-the-art care.

I went to buy some Bombas socks and the ones I want are sold out. Well then. Now I have to figure out something else to buy instead (maybe off my skincare list?) because I am feeling itchy to buy something.

The IRS publishes them, so you can google it.
My tax guy said that basically, withholding shifted down proportionately with the changes to the tax brackets but didn’t account for all the deductions some people would be losing.
Well this week is not off to a good start. I just responded to a text from my boss and bitched about our weekly all-hands meeting being rescheduled...only to realize it was a group text with our two executive directors 😖
I have such an underlying level of anxiety this AM. There are a few triggers, but nothing life threatening and one situation seems to be working itself out, but I still feel this way. ugh. I'm actually leading a stress management group for my patients this AM so hopefully the relaxation techniques will help me, too.

❤️ I hope the relaxation techniques help. I’m a ball of anxiety today too. Lots of factors but I’m feeling especially discouraged and awful about the UT bill signing today. I’m still in disbelief those fuckers are actually going to repeal the Medicaid expansion ballot initiative. For me that’s 4 years and more than half a million dollars down the tubes and I’m really feeling it.
Today I have a knit group that I have to leave early for a gyno appt.
This afternoon I have phone interview #2 with a company.
Tomorrow morning I have an in person interview with a different company.
Tomorrow afternoon I have a phone interview with yet another company.
I have only applied for about a dozen jobs. I thought it would take a _long_ time to get interviews, as these jobs are a bit tangential to my prior experience, and I do not meet all of their basic requirements. Feeling good about it, but also perplexed.
MrsAxilla, I'm so sorry. I also lost a cat to the same thing, on my one-year wedding anniversary. Afterward, we were like, "...so. I guess we'll get some lunch?"
