I have had 2 random people in the building comment on my pregnancy today, and 2 coworkers ask how much longer I'm going to make it at work. I still have 6 weeks until my due date! And I'm planning to work until I give birth unless something happens between now and then. I must look super pregnant today or something, and I'm starting to get self conscious about it.
Ds has been sick with a cold for a week now. He has a productive cough and a stuffy/runny nose. I started with the cough yesterday and am already over it. I'm using Zicam and taking EmergenC so hopefully that will help shorten it for me.
I am going to attempt to make my own granola bars some time this week. Ds loves them, but they are so expensive to buy so I am going to make them instead. I also need some good recipes that use jalapenos. We have a ton of them and they are starting to mold so we need to use them up, but my kids don't like spicy stuff so I'm struggling to find things I can make that they will eat.
DD is done with basketball now. It will be weird to have everyone home by 5:00ish instead of 7:00ish. It's funny how quickly we get used to changes in our schedules like that. But now we will actually have time in the evenings to sit and eat and still have some time to hang out before bed time.
I am moving at the end of the month, and I am going from a studio to one bedroom so I sold my bed...so now I am sleeping on my couch for 2 weeks weeks and it is going to get old real fast. lol
But, on the flip side, I am looking at buying a new mattress - has anyone bought a smart mattress? I was looking at the eight sleep one, but I am wondering if its really worth the extra money - I like the idea that I can warm my toes at the beginning of the night, but have that feature turn off once I am asleep, I can track my sleep and have my bed tell my coffee machine when to start based on my movements.

Maybe I'm odd but it seems creepy that bed can do all that!
does anyone follow the Chris Love Julia blog/IG account? I just saw that they lost their A-frame vacation home to a fire. They were just there all weekend. So scary and sad after all the work they've put into it.

I am all for the robots taking over and optimizing my life. Maybe they will slowly take so much control that I no longer have the ability to make my own choices...but...meh...the world is melting man, might as well go into the end with as little stress as possible. lol

I'm with you. My H and I joke that the future in Wall*E is starting to not look that far fetched.
styme46, can you just pickle the jalapenos? Slice and cover with a vinegar solution, then boil to seal. I feel like pickled jalapenos are generally milder than fresh and then you'll just have them on hand to mix into things.
I was going to suggest a pickled carrot recipes that uses jalapenos, but they are super spicy (and very delicious).
Minnesota ladies - does St paul always do a shitty job of plowing their streets? I live in the northern metro and go into Mpls quite a bit but rarely head to St Paul. Today I had to venture down there and sweet jesus it was a mess. Delivery trucks were blocking entire streets because the roads were plowed so shitty and sidewalks were barely walkable. It was a total shit show and I could not get out of there fast enough.

To be fair I'm not opposed to robots doing the work for me on lots of fronts. I'm lazy and welcome them allowing me to further develop that trait. But the mattress thing creeps me out for some weird reason LOL

I think I'm either going to do this (I'm out of vinegar though) or freeze them. I was also thinking about making a jalapeno pepper powder, but the only recipe I can find to dry the jalapenos uses a dehydrator and I don't have one. I'm still looking, though.
Also, I ordered a new phone and it is supposed to come today. I'm stupidly excited to get it.

Whatever you do, if you are going to freeze them, don't flash boil them first. Ask me how I know LOL

Look up a recipe for candied jalapenos - they are so, so good with cream cheese and crackers! Most recipes include directions for canning them, but they'll last quite awhile in the fridge too.

styme46, Slice them, scoop out the membranes and seeds, spread cream cheese inside and wrap with bacon and then grill or cook in the oven. Jalapeno poppers-usually they're fairly mild once the seeds are scooped out and then with the cheese, but if the kids don't like them you can eat them as a meal

This weekend our water had a terrible, fishy smell because of zebra mussels in a water treatment plant pipe. The smell is gone but I still can’t drink the water without wanting to hork.

I saw that! They had posted a candle story last night (next to a salt lamp?) and then the fire today. It seemed eerie in retrospect but I’m nervous around candles.

Yeah, we talked about making these, too. We're big fans of jalapeno poppers. We made bacon wrapped jalapeno meatballs last night, but that only used 3 up. I'm making potato soup tomorrow so I may make some jalapeno corn bread or some cheesy jalapeno bread to go with it...that way I don't have to worry about making something different for the kids to eat.

I binged watched a show for the first time. It was 8 episodes. I felt like I emerged cloudy from some kind of brain cave after it was done. How do you guys do it?
(Sex Education. Jack your beanstalk. I feel light-headed and I can taste scampi.)
