FishChicks, I lurk here, but my DD was born via emergency c-section at 31 weeks and taken to the NICU. As long as baby (in your case babies) are OK and you are not under general, they will likely let you see them before they are whisked off. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.
I have been thinking of you so much because of blizzard baby! I lurked through that, but thought of you often! These two keep trying to break out when we have big storms coming and I wonder if they're all kindred spirits!
So hopeful to avoid general and get to see them at least once at delivery. I think I'm in the right place for that.
If you don't mind me asking, how long were you in the NICU?

Aww thank you so much! <3 BB is a healthy, normal three year old now. She's still tiny, but doing so well.
She spent 35 days in the NICU, mostly due to her PDA which needed medicinal intervention to close. NICU babies are tough little fighters - it's a scary place but also wonderful in some regards. Feel free to PM with any specific questions you might have. I hope your babies stay put as long as possible.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? It's been a super relaxing week because I'm on my fourth snow day. But I plan on being out through the end of the school year, so these are days I won't get paid. I'm also feeling like with each passing day I have less of a chance to really work with my students before going on leave around the end of March. My shower was postponed until next month because of the snow storms as well.
3. Questions for the group?
4. Do you have a birth plan? What is it? I haven't written anything down yet. This is my first pregnancy and birth. I've heard so many women say to not have your heart set on a plan, but I still have an idea of what I prefer. If possible, I want to labor as long as possible on my own without interventions or being hooked up to constant fetal monitoring. We live about 15 minutes from the hospital and I hope to labor at home as long as possible.

1. How far along are you this week? 33 weeks today
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? My feet are swelling and so itchy. Had 2 NSTs so far, and both were great. I'm so emotional, but it's over stuff that I'd be emotional over pregnant or not. My aunt passed away yesterday due to complications of the flu. She was only 57 and had her flu shot. It's awful, and so heartbreaking. To pile on the loss, my sister lost her baby at 20 weeks. Our whole family is just shattered over all of this.
3. Questions for the group? not this week
4. Do you have a birth plan? What is it? Get the baby out and get us both home healthy. Oh, and give me the drugs. I've passed kidney stones without meds, and I have no interest in giving birth without them. I really don't care how the birth happens, c-section or delivering vaginally, as long as we are both safe.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I had my initial doctor visit today. Peanut measures right on track as 8w6d! I guess this is really a thing now.
3. Questions for the group? Aside from the general existential “what the hell am I doing?” No.
4. Do you have a birth plan? What is it? Have baby, hopefully without meds. I react VERY strongly to epidurals. I hated that I couldn’t feel anything for hours. If I can’t do it, then oh well.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? This is my first official mom to be monday! lol. Not much to report, my first appointment is Thursday. We had a m/c in November so I'm very anxious about this pregnancy and not even really excited yet. Hopefully that changes the farther along I get.
3. Questions for the group? None.
4. Do you have a birth plan? What is it? My first two kids I had uncomplicated vaginal deliveries without pain meds, and intend to do the same this time. I went into labor spontaneously with my daughter, was induced with my son, and prefer my spontaneous labor much more, so I think will try and not be induced this time.
3. Questions for the group? How much do I really need a diaper pail? The idea of poop diapers sitting in there fermenting really grosses me out.
Do you want to bring poopy diapers outside 12 times a day while your baby is an infant? Because that's how often they poop. When they get bigger and the poop is more solid I dump it in the toilet and then put the diaper in the pail. You want a diaper pail. Get a diaper pail.

Agree 100%. We have an Ubbi and love it.
Yup, we have an Ubbi too. I was hesitant to spend so much on a diaper pail, but it has been worth it.

Please tell me you're exaggerating and babies don't actually poop 12 times a day. Please! I'll get the diaper pail, but the idea still grosses me out.
Anywhere from 1-12 times a day. Some babies poop every single time they eat.
My H thought he would be grossed out by baby poop and vomit. He got over it. You will too.

Sorry, nope lol. In those early weeks they pretty much poop after every feeding. At least mine did.

You're going to be dealing with MOTN poops for a while. Do you really want to schlep outside MOTN to toss the diaper in an outside can, possibly more than once a night, when it's raining or snowing or whatever else it's doing outside, when you're tired, not feeling great, possibly not totally dressed, spossibly some combination of the foregoing? That sounds crazy to me.
There was a whole discussion on MMM about this at one point, related to smelly older-baby poop (it smells a lot worse when they start solids) and somebody said they did take them outside every. single. time. But I think the general consensus was that that was madness. When they get to the solids stage, you can plop it out into the toilet and flush, but you still want a diaper can to put the diaper in after you've done that.
We've been using a diaper can for 3 years and we're still going, albeit at a lower rate (DD is 3 and is daytime PTed, but has wet pull-ups from nap and overnight). They're not that expensive in the grand scheme of baby gear. I don't do wipe warmers or anything like that, but I consider diaper cans to be a staple.

1. How far along are you this week? 29+3
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I passed my glucose screen last week, but it really kicked my butt! I felt really off after drinking the drink, then the next day started with Braxton Hicks which was a little bit of a surprise.
Ordered a glider/recliner. Planning on really starting on the nursery this coming weekend.
3. Questions for the group? For second+ time moms that don't have family super close by - what did you do for your oldest(s) when you had to leave to go to the hospital? If I go into labor during the day, we have a few neighbors we could call and ask them to take DS home from school then my parents (who are between 40min-1 hr away) could come (they are not the most involved grandparents so would like to rely on them as little as possible). What do you do if you have to leave in the middle of the night? See below - I had a super fast labor and delivery with DS so am really going to try to get to the hospital ASAP when contractions start which won't allow a ton of time to have wait around for someone to get to our house. I'm going to reach out to one of the teachers at his school that babysits to see if she would be also interested in becoming a sitter/help us with labor back up.
4. Do you have a birth plan? What is it? My biggest priority this time around is to get to the hospital in enough time. I had a very quick labor and delivery with DS and didn't even make it into a labor/delivery room to deliver. I'm hoping for a similar L&D in that it was unmedicated.

1. How far along are you this week? 8w2d
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I've had 2 visits so far once ~6 weeks and last week at 7w5d and both looked good with a strong heartbeat! I'm nervous actually posting in here because this is my 1st and rainbow baby after a long road to get here. This is the first pregnancy that I've actually seen a heartbeat and it's just settling in that this is really happening! It will be all milestones here on out and it's exciting and scary all at the same time.
3. Questions for the group? Not sure what questions I have yet, but will have lots since I gave up years ago keeping up with all the pregnancy things to know because it felt like it wasn't ever going to happen and was leaving me sad.
4. Do you have a birth plan? What is it? Not yet, very general thoughts, but mostly just trying to enjoy the process and be present in the miracle of where we are today.
oceanstbride, I also had a precipitous delivery with #1. I made it to L&D, but just barely. DD is 3 and will be in full day daycare M-F. Depending on time of day and how much notice we have, we'll have my dad (4-5 hours away), MIL (40 mins away), and a couple of next door neighbors for NEED IT NOW care, and also those neighbors' college age kids. The college kids, followed by their parents, will be our MOTN plan since I figure they are young and resilient. One is in community college and lives at home, another will be home for the summer by my due date. MIL has said she'll come MOTN if we need, we just might need a neighbor to come sit in the house for half an hour until MIL can get there. If it happens during daycare hours, MIL is on the list to pick up DD and has done it before (non-emergency) so she would be our backup for that.
