Can you recommend a tote that is appropriate to bring on an airplane? Everything I’ve found so far has been very horizontal or only has handheld straps. I want something square-ish, zip top, can carry comfortably on my shoulder. The best travel tote I’ve ever had came as a freebie from a trade show (lol) but it fell apart years ago. Idea is to fit a change of clothes/toiletries and in-flight entertainment.
I think this is the one I have. They make various sizes. I love this bag and used it for years as my everyday work tote. It can be worn as a backpack, which was really useful. I will say mine was a beautiful mustard/yellow color and it easily showed dirt (to be fair, I could have been much more careful with it and wasn’t) so I would get a darker color if I purchased another one.

I always bring my Longchamp bc it is lightweight and crushable. There are cheap knockoffs on Amazon. I once had a hole in the bottom corner of my usual one and needed something ASAP so I ordered a knockoff one and for the few times I needed it before I got around to getting a new “real” one, it was fine.
I have the baggallini Kindred tote handbag and I really like it. It's got a lot of room inside and a bunch of pockets. It has a removable cross-body strap and a luggage sleeve. Re: a change of clothes, I can fit something light like leggings, a shirt and a light sweater in it, with room for the usual other stuff.
I am forever in love with my Longchamp Le Pliage bag. It has held up for nine years. It's also nylon, so it's super easy to wipe down or wash if you get something on the outside or inside. No pockets, so I have a set of pouches that I use to organize the stuff inside.
I love my Dagne Dover, but its very "office." Which is fine if that's what you want, but if you are looking for something more versatile, the Jemma Birdie is the best. Similar to the OMG in that it has the strap that goes over your luggage handle and it has a shoe compartment. The look of it with the camel and gold accents is more my style. Plus I love the lining and the little cosmetic case.
ETA - you would not be able to get a change of clothes in a Dagne Dover (or at least most of them). You definitely can with a Jemma.

Dagne Dover makes a few styles — the newest is a duffle that comes in different sizes. It’s one of the few duffle styles I’ve seen with a dedicated laptop sleeve.
I don’t have one yet because I usually use the OMG but I’m considering getting one for overnight trips.

Ok, ladies, help me out. I now want one of these amazingly awesome bags. But which one? Do i want the Lo & Sons OG or OMG? Is the larger one worth it? Does it fit under the seat on an airplane?
I’m hesitant to spend the money on a bad I can’t see/try out before I buy it and while I like roomy bags, I want the smallest I can fit all my crap in lol.

Get the OG. I originally bought both because I wanted to compare and kept the OG (bigger one). It definitely fits in the seat in front of you. It's really not THAT big.
Do they still do free returns? If so, buy both and see what you like.

I would get the OG. I have both and use the OMG for my regular work tote, but would want more space for travel. OG fits easily under airline seats.
I have a Lo & Sons laptop bag and a small Le Pliage lol. The recommendations are definitely in my wheelhouse. Also trying to keep it somewhat unisex since my H is interviewing for jobs right now (and will require travel during that process). It’s not an absolute requirement though.

The OMG is better as an office bag but terrible as an overnight bag; I can fit my toiletry bag ... and that’s it. The OG would probably fit more stuff but looks more like “luggage” as a result. (I had a female boss say, “Why didn’t you leave your luggage in the hotel?” when we were going to a meeting while on a business trip.) So it really depends on what you want.
LO & Sons or the Longchamp Le Pliage bag (which has no pockets, but is SUPER light)
Yup, I use a Lo & Sons OMG mostly for work travel, and a Le Pliage for personal/family stuff with small bags or packing cubes to organize. Both are starting to look pretty beaten up so I'm watching this thread for other ideas, but I do love these bags, especially the Le Pliage.
ETA: I can absolutely pack in the OMG for an overnight work trip, with laptop, clothes, etc. I don't carry a lot of paper or files around though.
I find the OG is good with EITHER a laptop and associated work/purse stuff (water bottle, wallet, sunglasses, kindle, cell, keys, some makeup/chapstick, snacks, maybe a light cardigan) OR overnight bag stuff (change of clothes, small toiletry bag, shoes). I like my longchamp too, but even though it's held up better than I would expect a canvas bag to (over 4+ years), I'm hesitant to pack it with too many heavy items, i.e. a laptop, for the most part.
I have been looking for a work tote to bring my work laptop and a few files back in forth, would the OMG be sufficient for that? I'm actually worried it could be too big.
I’m 5’4” and I look silly carrying an OG. You can google for a comparison of the two with photos.
Maybe it’s because I’m fatter than you, but I’m the same height and don’t think I look silly. Or maybe I do and just DGAF, LOL.
Fun facts about the OG: it can hold a box of wine or a handle of liquor or an entire take and bake pizza from Whole Foods. My philosophy is that if your bag can’t hold a bottle of liquor, you need a new bag.
I will second this! I bought the OG in 2012 (after rave reviews on ML), and it's been my go to travel bag ever since. It's held up really well, and always fits everything I need and more!

If you want unisex, Tom Bihn bags are fantastic for travel. Here’s an option:

I've had an OMG and an OG. They are workhorses. I carried each daily for multiple years and I am NOT easy on my bags. I currently carry the OG because I need to haul my computer and notebooks and/or files most days. It fits the aforementioned work gear, plus my not-small wallet, makeup bag, contigo water bottle, contigo coffee mug, planner, and assorted crap and still zips shut. I can shove my Rothy's in, too.
That said, it isn't light, I couldn't haul it comfortably more than a block or two, but I park in front of my house and relatively near my office building/client's building so that isn't an issue for me.
