This is for Missouri, and I'm sure states are different, but we've never owed either before. I was thinking of just filing and getting it out of the way, but I'd like to not pay until right before the deadline. Can you do that? Or do you have to pay within a certain amount of time after you file?
what about Fed? I may owe at some point, so might be good information to have.

I haven't owed state in a while, but I know for fed you can e-file through Turbo Tax and then print a remit form. As long as you send that with a check for the payment amount by the due date you are fine.

As far as federal, yes go ahead and efile so you don’t forget. Set up a debit or print a slip and mailing a check at the last minute is totally acceptable. It just has to be postmarked by the deadline.
