We use Pampers during the day but I actually prefer to use one size up in the Huggies overnights. They have the elastic in the back so they fit both Twin A’s big bum and Twin B’s skinny bum lol
Pampers overnights with a doubler. Maybe that’s what you mean by sposie, not sure. DS is fine with just the diaper overnight (most of the time), but DD needed the doubler too. Targets overnights didn’t work for us.
Thredjack: what diapers work best for long, lean boys during the day? We’re already up to a size 6 for length, but it’s hard to get a tight fit around his legs. Virtually every poop leaks out the side. We’re using Target, but having issues. Huggies seem to run small. We used Pampers swaddlers when he was little, but stopped due to cost. Does anyone use Costco? Others? DS is 14 months, 24.5lbs and 99th for height. He’s a very active guy and that could also be part of the issue.
At 14 months S was off the charts in height (about 32”) was 21 lbs and was running and climbing everything. We always had good lucks with Huggies in his actual size. We tried target brand but he got rashes. He stopped leaking when he was about 4 months and we switched from pampers.

Thanks. That’s another reason I’m switching off Target’s diapers. We have never had any issues, but with the most recent box, he started getting rashes along the waistline. I’m guessing they changed something in the elastic. I bought a box of Kirkland brand to try.
My follow up question...what size should I be using? I moved him up to size 6 after we had leaking issues with the 5s. But, unless we are super careful to get the leg holes exactly right, the 6s still leak. He has not gained weight since 11-12 months, but continues to stretch out. The 5s looked like bikinis on him and seemed to barely cover his butt. Maybe switching brands will be the solution anyway.
This is a fine example of when the second kid is opposite of the first. Nothing we learned with DD is helping here, lol.

remind me how big he is? S is currently 24# and 33" and we have him in size 4. I just follow the weight limits on the box of diapers and switch him up when he gets close to the next level.

I think the weights on the box are horribly inaccurate especially with taller babies. I always moved my kids up once the diaper didn’t cover their belly button. I remember Kid1 was in a size 5 at 16-17m or so, maybe 23-24lb, bc we moved up just before a trip to Disney World. I didn’t want to deal with leaks on the plane, car seat, etc. Kid2 was in a size 5 at probably 6m (but was 23-24lb at that age). He’s in a size 7 now (only pampers and Target makes this size) at ~37lb when the box says 41+lb.

huh, interesting! I have never thought of this; maybe we are just lucky that we have never had leaks, because the diaper is nowhere near his belly button, lol.

I also have stomach sleepers, so that probably contributes. I also hate changing the crib sheet, and they never seemed bothered by a slightly too big diaper.

His stats are the same as S. He is 24.5# and 33". Following the weight charts on the boxes hasn't always worked for us, I think that's why this is a pain. When he starts blowing out, we've moved up a size, which solved the problem until recently. Maybe he still belongs in 5's, but we need a different brand.
This really isn't that hard; I'm judging myself, lol. The Target diapers worked great for DD, so we went with what we know. They're clearly not working for DS, so we should just move on. I'll try size 5 again in some other brands. The amount of money we're saving on cheap diapers is being lost via laundry.
I wish they had a cloth diaper service in our area. I'd cloth diaper if I didn't have to do the extra laundry.
ETA: I found a cloth service in our area! I'll have to learn more about it.
Am I the only one who has never used an overnight diaper? DS just wears his regular ones to bed and has only leaked like twice.
I haven’t used one either. Except DS has leaked occasionally on the weekends when he sleeps 12-14 hours. I’ve never worried about it enough to do anything though. We just change his clothes and move on. 🤷♀️ He almost never leaks during the week when he only sleeps about 11 hours.

I only care because he wakes up early if he leaks! It's all about me, haha.
