I have no idea! Maybe a corn salad, or something like that I can prepare the day before and just serve. The jook is pretty high-effort for cooking and I don't think it would be as good reheated, plus I'll have to do the Manwich stuff. The easier I can make it on myself the day of the better. I've learned my lesson in past parties where I miss the whole Oscars because I'm cooking. The spruce goose (whole goose) I made for the Aviator was the WORST! it wasn't so bad when there were only 5 Best Picture nominees, but when they expanded it everything got a lot more challenging! Now I highly favor puns that are drinks, desserts, or other things that don't involve cooking. I tried to sell my husband on "BlackKklanmanchego" but he didn't go for it. :-D

I’m disappointed not to see Black-clams-man dip but happy to see jook!
We make jook in the rice cooker and it’s super easy. It can be made in the Instant Pot too.
We do reheat it and it’s fine but we have to add extra liquid.

I don't have a rice cooker, slow cooker, or Instant Pot. We have a small kitchen and I try to keep the appliances at a minimum, although I'm hoping with the new addition I might have more room to stow stuff in the mudroom or something. I did a trial run of it this weekend in a regular pot, though, and it came out great, and very tasty! I have leftovers so maybe I'll see how they microwave (maybe adding a little chicken stock) and just add the scallion, bacon, and peanuts fresh on Oscar Day.

Ooh, that looks good and green! I didn’t know if you had any of those things or knew someone who did and could borrow it. Our rice cooker changed our life! Reheating on the stove top works best but my husband microwaves it at work pretty frequently.
It wasn't hard, but it was 2.5 hours of paying attention to it, which is pretty high-effort for what I usually cook. :-) I probably didn't have to stir / add liquid as often as I did, but I was worried about it scorching.

I make this a lot for parties and it goes quick - and it tastes really good when you make it the day before because the oil and lime juice soaks in. I’d dice and add the avocado right before serving though so it doesn’t go bad.
