So E is getting really interested in potty training, and requested to use the bathroom while out today. I put some toilet paper on the seat and helped her sit down, but I'd like something more since she ended up being kind of smushed onto the front of the seat and it was hard for me to help her wipe while she was sitting. I'm looking at the OXO portable potty and the folding seats that go on top of the regular seat -any other options? What worked well for you on the go?

Backwards on the seat works almost as well as carring a reducer, and then you aren't carrying something extra. The curve at the front of the seat is a good size for a small bum.
Wiping poop, have the kid bend down and touch the floor or shoes. Then wash hands.
I just got a folding frog face (sits on top of the adult seat) that goes in the kid backpack with the water bottle, extra clothes, snacks, a plastic bag for pee clothes, my wallet etc. DS named his seat Froggie and mostly loves using him. And compared to multiple diapers, the slim folding seat is tiny.
Also, post-it notes to cover the auto flusher or it goes off while they're peeing. And as often as I can I use the handicapped stall so we have room to move around as needed. One person stalls are really one person stalls. Another note; I keep a bag with extra of everything including shoes in the car.
I also have have this in my car for when we are out somewhere without easy access to a clean bathroom. (DD is 5 now, though, so it hasn't been needed in a while since she can usually hold it until we get to a bathroom, but it definitely came in handy when she was newly potty trained) smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0016KV73W/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I believe we used the oxo potty. It’s the one that you can put the bag in and have them use it like a little chair, or turn the sides out and use it on top of a regular toilet, right? We never used it over a toilet but I would just take my son into the big stall and set up the oxo potty for him to use. Worked well for us! My friend had a little fold up seat thing that sat on top of the toilet but it didn’t seem as convenient. I often would have to stop and set up his little oxo potty in the back of the car or at a park or wherever- meaning we often used it when a real toilet was not available.
It works very well at keeping the germs off you and your kid. However, we never remember to bring it everywhere as we only have one but will alternate our vehicles (although it absolutely goes with us on road trips because gas station bathrooms are NASTY). E stands up to pee now and can reach most toilets when standing, so his contact is minimal, but I know that doesn't work for girls.
He bends over and touches shoes so I can wipe poop.
And of course, LOTS of handwashing, followed by hand sanitizer (my H is a germaphobe).
We use the foldable OXO one. So far we have only used it as a seat to go over top of the public toilet seat. I expect that once it’s warmer out, we will use the potty function a lot.
Poteet potty is great! It does fold up that it fit in a large diaper bag (& has a bag) but we just keep it in the back of the car. The bags with the absorbent pad (like a puppy pee pad) are awesome!
We use this folding seat and it works well not to mention fits nicely into my purse in the carrying case so I don’t have to carry something extra. It’s not too heavy either:

We also used this one. For some reason C could never really perch himself on the front of a toilet seat. He actually fell in once at home, and I think that freaked him out.
I actually made it a point to take him to target on the weekends, and told him if he used the potty at Target (or made a good-faith effort), he would get a Hot Wheel car.
