Has anyone read the comics? I really liked the show, but it felt a touch formulaic. I got the major plot theme right away, that Vanya was going to be the one with the secret power that killed the world.
All in all, I'm looking forward to next season. It's such an odd smash of things.
Didnt read the comics, want to now for sure. I'm about 3/4 of the way through but I LoVE it. I agree it's predictable, I saw the bad guy coming from a mile away. Love the visuals, and Klaus' story line and character growth so far, hes definitely the character with the best arc so far.
@@ I love Five, too, probably because I find it amusing to watch a kid be a cynical old man.
I really hope they make a season 2, Netflix canceled all the Marvel series and while I know it's because they're splitting with Disney I dont have a lot of faith in them continuing other projects now.

mala wait, wat? I watch Jessica Jones, and it is coming back in April, right? RIGHT!? 😐😥
I really liked Umbrella Academy, but thought like many netflix series it started off unbearably slow, but was awesome at the end.
I actually liked thinking through the complexity of the family dynamics and how they wove in so many elements.
Luther is the "traditional" leader (who actually sucks and doesn't realize or appreciate all his siblings powers)
Dominic the same
Allison has a lot of empathy
I liked seeing the different ways in which they cared for each other etc...
I feel like Reginald was horrible at managing the kids super powers. He was totally in over his head with Vanya. She is basically Jean Grey and professor X tried to help her control her powers but never HID THEM from her.
Same thing with Klaus. Klaus is incredibly powerful. How do you go through superhero school, and grow up and as an adult only start to REALIZE your power? He should be a master at this point and really confident! Instead dumb Luther is making him be the lookout lol 🙄.
Which, idk, luther is a little bit the worst. What a meathead.
Overall it's pretty good and the end set up for an awesome second season!
So, I did a little googling because I had a theory that the fireflies Reginald released were the 43 babies (never did find confirmation of that). Reginald is a fucking alien, which of course answers why he was so bad with the kids. Yes, the entirety of the scene with the violin did not scream alien landscape to me.

An alien? Thanks, that explains why he didn't age!
Klaus is the best.
I also want more Ben next season (assuming there's a S2).
Keeping my blinders on to not read the posts because I haven't finished but I just had to say that Tom Hopper (Luther AKA Dickon from GoT) dance to "I Think We're Alone Now" is everything I never knew I needed out of a show.

Yes! Apparently in the comics he's an alien wearing a human mask.

You could tell he was an alien when he was saying goodbye to his sick wife... He looked out as he let the little jar of light go, and their planet was being destroyed..

Yes, but I didn't get that. LOL! There's so much other weirdness that it just fit right in.

You got way more than me 😁, I have no idea how I picked that part up lol.
Watching a lot of star trek and guardians of the Galaxy? 🤷♀️ lol.

Ok, I finished it. I really liked it. I loved the music, and I felt it was pretty different from other superhero stories. Granted,I don’t read comics, so it’s possible this is not a correct assessment.
I agree that you knew early on that Vanya was the bad guy, but it seemed intentional (not going for a twist that is).
I normally hate child actors, but Number Five did a great job IMO.
And I love Mary J Blige. Hazel and Cha-Cha had a very Pulp Fiction vibe to them, and I loved their relationship.
I loved it. The darkness of it, and them being superheros in a normal world, sort of reminded me of watchmen (the book, not the terrible movie). Klaus was also my favorite. And yeah, i had a feeling that vanya was the powerful one who destroys the world (i later googled a description of their powers, the numbers increase with their power, so luther is really the weakest, vanya the most powerful).
I thought it ended at a really frustrating point, so hopefully it comes back soon. I think its three parts in the book.
And Jalapeñomel - for being bad guys, I loved Hazel and Cha-cha too. I was rooting for them at the end to not be killed off!
Loved the music too.
I was frustrated, though, with the ending. Clearly they plan/hope to have another season, and I hope they do. But I would have liked to have gotten just a tad bit more from the ending - at least where they time hop to.
Did anyone notice the lack of present day technology, though? No cell phones/ no internet? I had to laugh everytime allison talked about finding no information on Leonard at the LIBRARY!
