A bro on my feed just announced he signed up to volunteer for Warren this morning. This dude was ride or die Bernie. Like, all through last year would.not.shut.up about how Bernie would have won, ārevolutionā blah blah blah.
And heās all in for Warren. We are in a super Bernie bro pocket, so the fact that heās no longer in for Bernie is a hopeful sign for me. Heās not quiet about his opinion either, so Iām going to continue to say that Bernie will not carry even close to the same numbers he did in the past.
I think itās ultimately going to be a close race between Warren and Harris. I see them as the last 2 standing. Maybe Booker and Castro will stick around longer than most as well, but I think the field will narrow quickly.
If I were Harris or Warren or.. anyone else I'd be having my people ALL OVER THIS MAN'S HISTORY. I'd be researching his ties to Russia, big money (there's no fucking way this man crowdsourced over a million $20 donations in a few hours), dark money, kinks, statements about race, immigration, women... EEEEEEEEEEEEERRYTHING.
Heās not going to get the nom. He is facing a vastly different political landscape this time around. And he didnāt even do that well last time. I mean HRC smoked him. He is incredibly unliked. He just has a passionate but small base of a very non representative demographic. I havenāt seen anyone in my life show any excitement for him. And I had a ton of Bernie Bros in my life. Iām surprised by his money haul to the point where I donāt believe it. Wasnāt a lot of his money last time from foreign contributors?!
I don't know what percentage of his funds it constituted, but yes, his 2016 campaign was fined for accepting foreign donations.
I must say I'm pleasantly surprised by the number of people (er, women) in my local groups, including 2016 Berners, who are posting "just donated to Kamala/Klobuchar/Warren..." (or multiple/all of the women running) in response to his announcement.

A good read*, that I wish would be read by a lot more people than I expect: *Though you can def detect a bit of Bro, consider yourself warned I Caucused for Bernie in 2016. Hereās Why Iām Worried About His 2020 Run. medium.com/@emilypothast/i-caucused-for-bernie-in-2016-heres-why-i-m-worried-about-his-2020-run-59475dac4d1d 2016 was legitimately traumatic for a lot of people, and the self-righteousness that Bernie Sanders seems to spark in some of his more privileged supporters significantly contributed to that trauma. (If you donāt see it, consider yourself lucky. And possibly somewhat responsible.)
I'm not super knowledgeable about US politics but I wanted to get your thoughts on this. Similar to posters here, I'm also surrounded by people rooting for Kamala. I haven't seen anyone talk favorably about his campaign. Where is all this money coming from? Is it just because of name recognition?

My brother swears heās āthe most popular politician in America.ā I see little support for him in my circles, but his circle (which is barely removed from mine) all loves him and is all in. Itās like weāre living in alternate universes (odd since he lives in my house).

He also reached out to his 2016 donor list several times via email yesterday, so in that regard he has a distinct advantage over the other candidates. I don't know if that means all the people who donated will also vote for him in the primaries though, he's a known quantity to most at this point whereas the others are not.

That quote is word for word what my 26 year old white male coworker said about him. I wonder if some email blast went out that said that, lol.

That might be, lol! It shocked me because I highly doubt it. My mom was just saying this morning how angry she is that he is running lol! Sheās split between Harris and Warren right now.
A friend of mine posted a something about Bernie needing to fuck off. I was surprised how many people came out of the woodwork to support Bernie. These were not your average white, male Bernie Bros. I think itās our polarizing bubbles that lets us think heās not a front runner. All my friends are all in on Warren and Kamala. Klobuchar is currently in hot water for coming to ATL and not hosting a public event or meeting with Stacey like Warren did last weekend. Anyone who doesnāt realize they need Staceyās approval to get the Ga Dems is a fool.

Whatās weird is when I did some cursory googling, I saw something that said Nancy Pelosi is actually the most popular politician in America right now, lol.

I AM NOT DEFENDING HIM, but Bernie was actually fined for in-kind services not direct funding by foreigners... his campaign paid travel expenses/per diem for Australians to come to the US to work on his campaign/canvas. The best (worst) part is that they still think what they did was not illegal and didn't/wouldn't admit fault... just that they paid the fine. (Again, Bernie can't ever admit to being wrong about ish.)
And based on this list of his biggest donor groups in 2016... I'm guessing most of his recent money came from tech industry Bernie lovers (Microsoft - Alphabet owns Google/YouTube) or Mail delivery people (seriously, Postal Service workers contributed over $135k to Bernie in 2016?).

Maybe, but you have to remember that ladies in politics don't count. And neither do our opinions, because we only like/vote for women because we're also women.

Yes, he has an edge over everyone else because he built a huge email list in 2016. There's likely a high amount of foreign money in there.
There are probably also a lot of Bernie haters who have not started donating but intend to do so once they see who is in the ring.
Also, he is excellent at convincing broke people to give him money. There were a lot of articles in 2016 of people who were struggling financially but were also giving him $5 a pay period. That's because he fundraises like a cult leader.
Iām pretty sure Iām not going to survive election season on FB. The Bernie Bros are out in full force, aggressive, and condescending.
I have one Bernie Bro left... she is in the PNW and all-in. I just found out on FB that Bernie already has a CNN-broadcast town hall scheduled for next Monday. Ugh. Already?!

It was announced almost immediately after he announced he was running - so I have no doubt it was planned beforehand.

I only have 1 supporter in my circle it seems. She's otherwise super normal so I don't get it, but she's not like all in or anything and I know she'll support whoever is the nominee.
The closest person I had to a bro in 2016 on my facebook is all in for Mayor Pete this time around.

I was just going to quote her and say that. I should go grab the article he posted that "proves" he's super duper popular.

I saw someone refer to Elizabeth Warren as "Bernie without the intelligence" yesterday, and I think I may have legit blacked out from rage for a second.
