I somehow got it in my head to look at going to WDW for Kid1’s birthday - leave 8/29, birthday 8/31, return home 9/1. Kindergarten starts 9/3 or 9/5, depending on which school we decide on (parochial vs. public) and I would go back to work (maternity leave) the following week. GF and BLT are under $500/night - GF is a screaming deal and so luxurious but we could walk to MK at BLT. I was thinking if we got an early flight out and a late flight back, we could do 2 MK days including BBB and 1.5 Epcot days and skip the other parks. Leave baby (3m, FF) at home with my mom due to the heat. Tell me I’m crazy, who wants to go to Disney 13ish weeks postpartum, the weather is going to suck, it’s a recipe for a hurricane or SOMETHING before I put down a deposit on a room. 😂 ETA: fixed kindergarten start dates.
I would have LOVED a trip like this as a kid. Getting to celebrate her birthday, enjoying a fun trip right before starting kindergarten, and some one-on-one time with mom and dad while baby enjoys time with the grandparents at home...sounds like a great time to me! If you're hesitant, you can always book it and get your $200 deposit back if you cancel no less than 30 days prior.
That being said, it's going to be hot as blazes so be prepared for that. Also make sure to take ponchos. I think you'd be totally fine in the pool at 13 weeks pp. My doctor told me not to swim or soak in a bath until at least 2 weeks after my C-section.

Ill be the dissenter. I would want to start easing in to a back to school routine - consistent, earlier bedtime, etc with kindergarten so close. If it was another grade I wouldn’t be as worried but kindergarten is such an adjustment.

I mean, I'm going next week at 9 weeks pp. I don't think that's crazy! I can report back about how it goes! I'll have an almost 4 year old DS with me too.
You had me until the part about being 13 w PP. I just couldn't do it. THat's just me, and totally no judgement if you are fine with going, but I had a hard time leaving babies at that point. It was just too hard for me, BUT, a huge part of that was BF. If the baby is FF, that definitely would help immensely. Still, though, it's hard when you don't know what the baby will be like yet. Super easy baby? Colicky fussy baby? Reflux-y baby?
I'm torn for you. I mean, it could be super fun, but I could also see it feeling really overwhelming as it got closer and you were dealing with an infant, going back to work, and your other kid starting K. That's a lot all at once.

Well I booked a room at BLT for ~440/night before tax and I can cancel for free until 8/23. Poly (the DVC rooms) were cheaper on Undercover Tourist than BLT was but I liked the ability to walk to MK. So, we’ll see. I will give it some more serious thought once Frontier releases fares for those dates. If they are super cheap (AA is just under $400/person right now), I might just stick with it.

we're taking our kids on a disney cruise to Alaska the week before they start 3rd grade and kindergarten.... AND my kindergartner will be going from half day preschool to full day Kindergarten. it is what it is, life is short. the cruise itself was $700 cheaper that week than if we booked the previous week- AND we're saving $1200 total on airfare by flying back on their actual first day of school. If missing one day of school puts an adventure trip like Alaska more in budget, then... whatever :-)
I’m probably a horrible mother but I’d do it. Baby won’t know any different and it will be a wonderful tome to bond with your older child after the baby is here. By 13 weeks I was feeling good and ready to be moving more. It wouldn’t bug me about K starting shortly after.
Different, but we’re going to Acadia Maine the week before Kindergarten starts. Both kids have that week off from daycare, so why pay a babysitter when I can spent that money on going somewhere? She’ll have only 2 days home before Kindergarten. She’ll just have to tough it out...although we’ll see if I end up eating my words after we actually go through it.
The weather is going to suck and no one wanted to claim my FF 3 month old for overnights. He didn’t start STTN until 3.5 months when he learned to roll over and sleep on his tummy and his reflux meds kicked in. I was trying really hard to plan a trip for DD around the same ages but in May. Even with my husband staying home, neither grandma was eager to keep DS without me around but maybe your family isn’t as annoying as mine. We wound up going in December instead when DS was 9 months and brought him and his dad with us. The weather was better though it was cold a few days, it’s easier for me to handle cold than super hot. That also meant almost no pool time, but my post 2x C-section self is nowhere near pool ready for another few years at best.

I don’t think you’re crazy. We are going in June this year again and trying to plan a big family trip during Christmas week this Christmas. Currently I am thinking of taking J by myself for a 3 day weekend in September just to go to Mickey’s Not So Scare Party.
