I just randomly had a memory of reading a book as a kid/teen where the protagonist and her classmates had to do that school assignment where they carried around bags of flour. I specifically remember that she or someone sewed a tee shirt to the bag and made a face? Or something like that. And then something goes wrong and she has to make another one, but it looks different? Or...maybe she tried to copy it and hers didn’t look as good. Does anyone else remember this?
I want a book club focused on re-reading the books i read in elementary and middle school.
Did anyone else read the Fabulous Five series? I loved those books.
That would be awesome. I didn’t read those, but I read Girl Talk - en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girl_Talk_(books) (which I distinctly remember getting 2 or 3 at a time in the mail) and another with a group of kids thrown together for a planning committee. There was Melanie, the popular rich girl whose mom had died, one the wannabe popular girl (maybe Nicole?), Jesse was the jock, Peter and...Jenna(?) were the religious kids and then there was a nerd.

Also, if anyone read Sweet Valley High, and wanted to revisit some of those books, please know that almost the entire catalog is available to read on your Kindle, free, with Amazon Prime.
Just be sure your Amazon doesn't automatically update your Goodreads list, lest you want all your literary minded friends to know that on a Tuesday morning you spent your commute reading Sweet Valley High #97:The Verdict.

Or every RL Stein, Caroline B Clooney, or any other of those cheese horror books.
FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC
I recall reading that book in school in 5th grade. It wasn't a "school" book, just what I'd brought from home to read during quiet reading time. I remember the teacher called my mom to have a talk with her, and then she got all pissy because my mom said she was o.k. with it. Lol - I was a bit of an...advanced reader, apparently.

I would be sooooo down for this group. I just uncovered a box of babysitter club books and Nancy drew books that my dad actually kept. He told me years ago he donated them all.

The Caribbean Adventure "super edition" of the Fabulous Five was my favorite book ever one summer (after 5th or 6th grade I think). I cannot even tell you how many times I borrowed it from the library. lol

i think I wanted to be Jana. lol Ah, the beauty and power of books.
Jalapeñomel, i need to re-read my Lois Duncan books. Stranger With My Face was awesome.
Oh and did anyone read the book about the girl who's dad is marrying a woman, from the south maybe new orleans area, with a son and daughter from a previous marriage but it turns out they are immortal and were born something like 100 years before?

Yes this was Lois Duncan, right? Locked in Time maybe? I loved all of her books.
I feel like to hunt down The Fabulous Five books now. Having a kid that is just starting to love reading makes me want to re-read all my favorites!
I recently read an interview with Christopher Pike. That took me back!
I loved Christopher Pike! He had one book about a group of friends where one was accidentally poisoned by windshield wiper fluid on a fun prom weekend or something like that. I was obsessed!

Jalapeñomel, did you read Lois Duncan books? I loved her so much.
Of course!
I loved Lois Duncan and read everything of hers. I was sooooo mad in college when the movie for "I Know What You Did Last Summer" came out since it wasn't quite the right story!

I cannot tell you how many times I have read Remember Me. So, so many. I still have it.
