We are going just for a night to see a show at Madison Square Garden (want to stay in this vicinity so after the show we can get back easily). Ideally we would spend around 200$ (Wednesday night), beyond that I don't have any requirements.
Also, any advice for getting opening day tickets, the Yankees play my home team that day
I recently stayed at the Cambria Hotel New York - Chelsea (123 W. 28th Street) in October for a concert at MSG. Price at that time, including taxes/fees was about $160 mid-week. Easy quick walk to MSG, lots of food options nearby, etc.
I've also recently stayed at Doubletree NY Time Square West (350 W. 40th St.) for Cursed Child last month and that was less than $100 mid-week (incl. tax/fees), but is a further walk to MSG for you.
I've stayed at others, but those are the two that are either closest/cheapest.
Any questions about either hotel, let me know. Enjoy your show!
There is a Holiday Inn Express on 36th Street that is clean and easy walking distance to MSG that I have stayed a few times when seeing a concert or game at that venue. Not expensive either. Not sure about getting the Yankee tickets.

I know nothing about hotels. Opening day tickets are expensive. The cheapest tickets on StubHub are 98 each which are up at the top. I have been looking.
We stayed at the Four Points by Sheraton Chelsea the week of Thanksgiving. It was clean and easy walk to MSG. We were happy with the value and location. Restaurant attached was surprisingly good.
