DS ended up in a different cub scout group then his "friend group". Don't ask. I think they all ran out and were like we have to be together and forgot about us or assumed we asked too, and honestly I never even thought of it. It's fine though since they are nice people but a smidge clicky, it's OK to make other friends. So since there aren't activities together, he hasn't carpooled with anyone really. My 6 year old is the one that carpools and we all have boosters for them.
We do sports with the friend group, but unless we are a coach, they are all on different teams with different times, so not much carpooling there either. So that is why I don't know who still uses a booster in their group or not of 8 year olds.
My 9yo DS is in a backless booster in our van and has been out of a high-back for 2+ years. In DH's car, he in not in a booster of any kind. It doesn't fit 3-across and honestly, I don't know of one classmate of his that is still in a booster of any kind at this point. I do not make him ride in a booster if he rides with a friend or if a friend rides with us (if a parent requested it, I obviously would).
My almost 9 year old is still in a booster, but he’s 48 inches and 50 lbs. He is the only one of his friends still in one, but is also a lot smaller than all of his friends. He says no one has ever teased him for being in one and he doesn’t seem to mind.
I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham
My son just turned 11 and is still in one but he is 4'7" so 2 more inches before he can be out of one. I feel bad but he doesn't seem to care. My almost 8 year old is still in one.
I am also laughing because from most of the responses here you all have tiny pocket children that will never outgrow a booster. 🤣😂🤣
this is why i always feel out of place posting about dd in threads like this bc 5’2” at 9y, she’s taller than some posters 😳
Lol! DD will be 9 in June and she’s still in a high back booster (but mostly because we are lazy). I know she’s already at the weight point and at her 8 year checkup last year she was almost at the height limit so I’m sure it’s almost time. I’m in no hurry though and she complains occasionally but not that much.
My 8yo is still in backless booster. He’s 89% height/ 85% weight. We’ll probably drop it in the next year — we decide based on where the seatbelt hits on his shoulder for our cars and so far it’s no ok with no booster.
My 11yo daughter’s best friend who will be 12 in Sept is still in backless booster. She’s totally average h/w. Her butt gets stuck in the seat — it’s kind of ridiculous
We stopped using the booster at 10 when she hit the height requirement. She is now almost 11 and the discussion has moved from boosters to sitting in the front seat.
