We leave for WDW tomorrow and the weather looks mostly decent (hot as balls, but expected). Our first MK day, however, has a forecast of 90% chance thunderstorms (Tuesday). I think we’re still far enough out that it could change so I’m going to hold off on doing anything for now, but would you change up that day to make it an “off” day? Right now Wednesday is our off day and it’s predicted to be gorgeous. We would end up losing our PPO BOG reservation and 7DMT FP but I’m meh on both anyways.
I’m not sure if it’s folly to plan an off day with rain or a park day with rain lol.
Is it saying storms on and off all day? Or just for a bit? And yeah it is pretty far off still. Our MK (and rest day) were both showing like 90% chance, scattered for the rest day, and afternoon for MK. We didn’t change anything. The rest day it didn’t even rain until late afternoon for an hour or so. On our MK day it rained for a couple of hours late afternoon, but on and off heaviness. We just did ponchos and hoped for the best. I didn’t have the motivation in me to reschedule everything for a projected spotty storm 🤣
Ok, I’ll hold off. TWC says thunderstorms all day and Accuweather says scattered so who knows. Too bad I didn’t plan the Splash Mountain ride for this day.
We have rain jackets but will grab some cheap ponchos too.
A few hours of thunderstorms is no big deal and the perfect time to enjoy the indoor shows. Sometimes we need an excuse to go enjoy those rather than racing to all the rides. Take that gorgeous day and enjoy the pool.
I wouldn’t switch- it won’t thunderstorm all day, and the parks were way less crowded on the “meh” weather days when we were there. Plus I wouldn’t want to be stuck in a hotel room all day on my off day- I want to be by the pool sipping pina coladas! Have fun!
We had really bad rain on one of our MK days in December. There was even a tornado warning in the area. We still went, only because we had a BOG reservation. We got to the park around 10:30 rode Jungle Cruise (we were the only ones on our boat) and then used our Pirates FP before going over to BOG (FP was completely unnecessary due to weather. We were sloshing through ankle-deep puddles. Our other 2 FPs were closed (Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain), but we were able to walk onto the Winnie the Pooh ride and Space Mountain (DH and 2 kids rode it 2x as a matter of fact). We were soaked and if we had brought extra shoes, the kids probably would have done more, but they were anxious to get out of their wet clothes.
It was fun and memorable, and would have been even better if we had been prepared with extra clothes/shoes. I say go for it.
Not the warm weather, but we were there in early december (warm compared to where we live). It was about in the low 70's. It rained one morning/early afternoon - prob done by 2? That was the best day - we walked onto EVERYTHING after the rain in Magic Kingdom. Splash Mountain - walk on, Space Mountain - walk on, Seven Dwarfs - less than 10 minutes, Small World - walk on. Haunted Mansion - walk on. all of Adventure land - walk on. It was soooo worth it. We had ponchos and 5 kids from 8 - 16. IF you can handle it, go during or right after the rain and enjoy. Seats will be wet on all rides - we used ponchos for that.
I wouldn't change it. Orlando weather is a lot like where I am (Houston) and it could end up being decent on Tuesday. A lot of times, the weather comes in a little later than they predict if it's this far out. Of course, it could go exactly how they predict but there's no way to know yet.

Yes!
We had a COLD rainy day in January. We also had a dessert party reservation that night, so planned to stay all day (I knew if we went back to the hotel we wouldn't want to go back to the park). The park was EMPTY. We did a mix of rides and lots of indoor shows that the kids had never seen and DH and I hadn't seen in years.
The best thing we did was pack an extra pair of kids socks/shoes/clothes (in plastic bags) and when we felt too wet, we went to Dumbo and sat in the play area for 1.5 hours. We changed the kids and let them run while we dried out. DH and I didn't have extra shoes, but we had extra socks so we ended up putting on plastic bags over our dry socks to keep our feet dry- it actually worked well. We went straight from Dumbo (which we didn't ride) to the dessert party. Thank goodness we had the stroller to help keep the kids dry and hold all our extras.
