We are not Disney people so I am at a total loss. But our almost 2 year old looooves Mickey ("SqueakSqueak") and I think it would be fun to take him in May or June, especially considering that I'm due with #2 in October so we likely won't get another chance to go back for at least 2 years. IF we end up going, I'm going to have 100000 questions because, like I said, we're not really Disney people - he's never been and I haven't been there in 30 years.
But my point: Which resort? We want to be close so that we don't have to have DS on a long bus ride. So I think that leaves us with Contemporary, Floridian, and Polynesian, right? Where is best? We'll likely spend 2-3 days at the resort using the pool, etc.
We stayed at the poly 2 years ago renting points and loved it!! You are going to be paying a premium for location in any of those resort thoug. This time we are doing Coronado and depending on the bus system. I’ll report back next week!

Poly hands down.
I expected everyone to say one of the other two! In my dumb head, I assumed they must be better because they're more expensive. What do you like about Poly the best?
ETA: LOL nevermind. I'm an idiot I don' tknow why I thought it was cheaper when I looked last time.

I don't love Poly (eek don't shoot!). I would either choose Contemporary (walk to MK!) or Wilderness Lodge - you can boat from the resort to MK and it's pretty fast and fun.
ETA: Grand Floridian is beautiful but pretty fancy. We'll stay there one day but not while our kids are little.

You can take a boat? That actually sounds pretty awesome. Is the wait/ride long? It would be a LOT cheaper it looks like.
Oh also it feels like the two parks we'd be most interested in are MK and Animal Kingdom. How hard is it to get to the latter from any of these places?

It's an 8 minute boat ride with typical waits of 8-12 minutes!
The only way to get to AK is by bus so I wouldn't let that lead any decisions

I like the Poly because of those 3 it has the best pool. The on-site restaurants are delicious. You can take a monorail to MK or a quick walk to TTC to take the monorail to Epcot.
We’ve stayed at the Contemporary, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Poly, Grand Floridian, and The Beach Club. For just chilling at the pool the BC is hands down the best. Next up I’d say the Poly. Good pool and you can walk to the TTC for easy Epcot acess. The Contemporary has the easiest acess to MK but the pool is not impressive.
The GF is our favorite though. Love the restaurants, the piano player, and DD likes the slide more than any of the others.
Polynesian! We stayed there in February and loved it (have never stayed at others you mentioned). The ferry is close to the Poly and we walked right of our room, down a path, and right onto the ferry boat to MK.
The contemporary is great for teh walk to MK, but if you're planning several resort days, it wouldn't be my first choice. The pools are OK, but not great. I'm not a GF person, so I'd do Poly or Wilderness Lodge if I were you. I love both those resorts. there's lots to do, they have a relaxing feel and both have a boat ride to MK.
Poly also has the monorail to Epcot. Book now for Late june and you'll still be within the 60 day FastPass window.

We LOVED Poly when we stayed there last December. We rented DVC points. The resort is small enough that you don't feel like you're walking far to get to the main building or the lava pool. The lava pool is fantastic. You also get a great view of the electric light parade and MK fireworks at night, from the beach. We were in the Tokelau building, with a view of the quiet pool. (ETA: If you buy the refillable cups, the quiet pool has a drink station, so that was super convenient for us.)
You can also walk to the Travel & Ticket Center (about a 5 minute walk), which is much quicker for getting to MK and EP than the monorail that comes to the resort. The bus was great for AK and HS - much easier and less crowded than when we stayed at Caribbean Beach the trip before.
I haven't stayed at all the resorts on the monorail, just GF, but it was really nice. We when when my daughter was newly 2. The monorail was so so convenient with the stroller and getting to the MK and Epcot. We also never had a long wait for the buses to HS or AK.
We also loved the pools there. DD loved the kids pool area and it's right next to a bigger pool and a food place. I imagine the poly has a similar set up. But, we loved our stay and would definitely stay there again.
