Oh man. I hope they eventually move it back to DL. The Halloween party there was one of my favorite things ever!
I bet once SWL has been running for awhile they will switch back. Makes sense for this year but once Marvel land is open at DCA they will have similar problems.

Good point. We've never been and have a fall trip planned, so other than the disappointment at accessing Star Wars, we're not too upset. I was just scared at the initial post that it meant there'd be a party (and early park closing) every night of our trip if this was just the first party announcement.

I would assume this will eventually be the case - they'll flip flop the party location based on who has the new shiny stuff. It's a bummer since it drops accessibility to the Haunted Mansion Holiday during the party but DCA has absolutely stepped up their game on decor/theme work for Halloween.

They picked such shitty days for the party this year. Tues, Thurs and Sun are not good for anyone except tourists. Every single event is on a work night or a school night.
yeah I'm bummed with the dates of the party. we booked at trip Thur-Mon based on school break in October. I guess we'll do the party on Sunday night because we get in too late on Thursday.
I just spent 100 minutes on hold to get ours since I have a Disney Visa. If it's that bad today for DVC, Annual Pass holders and Visa cardmembers, I would imagine the public onsale next week will be awful. But I couldn't buy online so I had to call.
So we've got our October Disney visit booked (Costco Travel) and my DD's birthday is on Oct 8 - one of the party dates! My MIL is going to buy the tickets to the Halloween party for this night.
1. How fast do these sell out? 2. i was reading that dates closer to Halloween sell out first, true or not really? 3. Should she call or is there another way to purchase?

Thansk!
Can't answer how fast they sell out but just had to say that's the same week and day we're going to the Halloween party. And we also booked through Costco. :-)
That being said, considering the two hour wait time this morning and that it's the first year at CA, my guess is that they will sell out. Maybe not the first day but I'd probably get them sooner rather than later. I am assuming that they'll be available online next week to everyone since there's a page for them.

They very rarely sell out in the first month that they are on sale. Certain dates will sell out but since Oct 13 and Halloween do not fall on a friday night this year (and there are no parties on those nights), you will probably see the cheaper dates go first and the more expensive dates available for awhile.
If she is a DVC member or Disney Visa cardholder, she can call this week to get tickets. If you do not have anything that gets your presale tickets, just wait until next week and purchase them online. If she doesn't have a Disneyland account set up yet, have her do that now to speed up the process.

That is totally normal for calling guest services on a Monday morning. Even on days when nothing is on sale, you can sit on hold for 30 minutes and once your call has been answered it can easily take 10-20 minutes b/c they have to do all the spiel stuff for whatever you are booking.

But it was Tuesday morning :-)
I'm unemployed and my calendar is still on January. I don't pay attention pesky things like days of the week!!
