2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? nothing really going on this week. next OB appt is next week, so just waiting for that. we've been talking more with DS about a new baby and hope to reveal the sex to him soon. i think we will wait and put it on fbook then with the first announcement there. i told work thsi week, so news will slowly get around soon.
3. Questions for the group? not right now.
4. Anything tech-related you are planning on getting/using for baby? Special apps? Monitors? Etc? last time we used babyconnect to record everything - diapers, nursing timer, sleep, all stats at drs appts, etc. we still use it for the height/weight stuff at the dr. diapers and sleep only the first few weeks, until the drs stopped asking about it basically. i used it for nursing timer and to record pumping output when i got back to work. it was very useful for that and to see trends, etc. this time i'd like to upgrade to a video monitor, and maybe one of those wearable devices for baby - owlet or the one that clips on (blanking on the name right now). we used an angel care monitor with DS, but with 5 years gone by there is definitely new technology out there i want to take advantage of.
I forgot you were before! H really wants to wait so I gave in. How are you doing? When’s your first appointment?
John knew with L, but neither of us found out with E.
I feel a lot more pregnant than I should 🤣 like... today I felt like I could feel my insides rearranging and all that pressure in my diaphragm, especially when sitting/leaning over. I told H that maybe there are like 5 in there taking up all that space. Lol I go for my first appointment tomorrow morning!

I think by the third it’s crazy, your body just snaps into “I already know this life!” mode. Good luck tomorrow!!
landmermaid I had a lot of shortness of breath until 18 weeks or so. Part hormones, part anxiety, etc. My OB actually suggested I get an EKG because it would bother me middle of the night too. It eventually just stopped.

Good to know! Thank you. I'll keep an eye on it.
FWIW, she acknowledged it was overkill and some doctors in the office would blow it off as NBD. I ultimately chose not to get one, and she wasn't really bothered by it. But I tend to ignore things like this, so the fact that I brought it up at all does indicate it was becoming troublesome.
I didn't have anything to that degree with my first. Now any shortness of breath is clearly because I'm just giant, but the first tri stuff felt different.
C has woken up twice in the middle of the night this week. The first was because he pooped. No clue what happened tonight. Apparently he is preparing me for a newborn...

Reading all the to do lists makes me realize that I really need to get it in gear--I both have lots of time and yet very little time to get things done before this baby arrives.

Probably same set up as last time--angelcare monitor for sound (though I need to check on the status of the second handset); additional nest camera for visual (already purchased and installed); Baby Tracker app for feedings, sleep, diapers.
Is anyone else Team Green? It wouldn’t be my preference so I might need someone to talk me off the ledge at some point, ha.
We were team green with DS1. It was really fun and I did enjoy it. No regrets about not finding out.
With DS2 we found out. DS2 is going to be our last kid and I had major gender preference so I knew I needed to process if it was another boy. So glad I found out because at this point I am so thrilled and excited.

There's no right answer obviously.
Pretty much this exactly! I really loved being team green the first time, but its been nice knowing this time too. Aside from the gender preference aspect, we really struggled with girls names the 1st time (we ended up hadving a boy, so it was all for nothing) and I wanted to cut down in the unnecessary name angst this go.
Are hipsters going to overtake the name Dean? And would I regret naming my kid Dean Henry D----? I dislike the double D but I have 29 days to figure this out lol.
I work for a firm that is too small for FMLA to apply. For my first maternity leave I was an employee, and I negotiated 8 weeks paid leave, followed by 4 weeks working from home/flex schedule, with full return at 12 weeks. However, since I was paid, my billing targets were not prorated for my time out (ouch, but I did it -- I hit my yearly target).
Since then, my state has passed paid family leave but I am not eligible because I'm now a shareholder in the firm and am self employed. I'm basically taking the same leave as last time with the same terms.
Holy crap, Susie. I bow down to you. 8 weeks off not prorated and you still met billables? That is seriously impressive. I would die if my firm did not prorate my annual requirement during my leave.
I had a monster quarter right before I went out, the kind I never want to see the likes of again. This time I can't work quite as much in advance of leave because it's not my first kid -- I have one at home who needs me, and who tires me out! It will definitely be harder this time to dig myself out of the hole.

Dean was our first choice for DS1 (8 years ago). A close coworker of DH’s named his kid that two weeks before he was born so we went with something else. It lost its luster for us at the time. It’s still one of my favorite boy names!
hamster Dean is on my shortlist now that I know it is going to be a boy. Haven’t seen any recently. DH still prefers Daniel I think. It’s not in the top 100 names, which I think is actually quite impressive for a boy’s name. I only seem to like very standard and popular ones.
Pregnancy insomnia is a bad joke. I’m more tired because I’m pregnant but I can’t stay asleep due to pregnancy? 😴😴
On top of being 35 weeks and uncomfortable all the time, I'm still congested at night making it even harder. I did not sleep much past 245 today. And not having coffee has a positive effect on my blood pressure, so I can't even have that.
Plus C hit his 18m sleep regression. He woke up once MOTN for poop (which he never does), once for funsies, and this morning at 530 also for fun. And naps have been shit for a while now. It's good to get this out of the way now, though he would be H's problem if he waited.

I had this BAD in the beginning...then it went away. Now the last few nights it's reared it's ugly head again and I'm really hoping it's temporary. There is no way I will survive the next 5-6 months!

I sympathize so much with the congestion. I’ve been so congested and my allergies have been so bad. I only got my hearing back this week after having my ears blocked from congestion for 2 weeks.
I need to pack some going home clothes for me. What on earth will fit? Most of my maternity clothes are already too small. I will probably just grab one of H's shirts, but I'm lost on bottoms. All of my weight gain was water weight last time, which is solidly not the case this time around.

Last time I was wearing maternity clothes from circa 2nd trimester at that point.
