Last spring, I planted some little onion sets. I think they were red onions. I couldn't figure out why they were doing so poorly until the very end of summer, wheN I found out that the kids had been trampling them all summer. I never picked any. Now that it's spring, they are all growing green leaves again and looking pretty good. So....will I actually get onions this year, or is it just greenery or is the bulb part all messed up now or something? Should I let them grow all summer?
I have no idea how to garden, but did a little salsa garden one year. My onions never did well. I also left them and noticed they greened up again the next season. After a while, I did end up digging them up and they never did anything underground. Just looked like little bulbs. hopefully you have better luck than I did.
