Chiropractor 3 times this week (plus ANYTHING Google says might increase chances of her turning), Spinning Babies exercises and another U/S on Monday. If she's still not head down at that appointment, then we'll discuss an ECV (I'm still weighing if I want to do that) if at 38 weeks if she hasn't flipped (or I haven't done the ECV) then it's a C-section (though I'm not sure when it will be scheduled) Not the end of the world but I am hoping it doesn't come to that.
This week, one of my partners at work asked if I was SURE that I'd really be out on maternity leave on 6/18, and therefore unable to make a meeting he was scheduling. I would be 13 days overdue by then (which my practice would not let me do, especially as AMA, but that's besides the point), and 18 days past when I spontaneously went into labor with DD. Anybody want to help me bury a body?
Omg Susie. What an idiot. I worked on my due date for DD but that was the last day. I’m planning on being out for sure a bit earlier this time and working part time the last couple of weeks due to DD’s school schedule. Work’s just got to deal.
Ugh, Susie. With DS my boss incredulously asked me if I really wanted to take a the full 12 weeks of FMLA because "that's a really long time, you won't want to be out a full 12 weeks, right?!". Um, yes. I do.
Ugh, Susie. People are so dumb. I had 2 different people at work have this same conversation with me this week:
Dumbass: Are you going to take any time off? Me: You mean after the baby is born? Yes, I plan to take 12 weeks of FMLA. Dumbass: Oh that's so nice! It's so great they let you do that. Me: :::Tries to drill a hole in their head with my eyes:::
Are you effing kidding me? 12 weeks of FMLA is not some huge gift that's been given to me. And 50% or more of that will be unpaid leave after I deplete all my leave and come back with nothing. No it's not so great they let me do that. This is a shit maternity leave policy.
Do people really think I'd just pop out a baby and show up on Monday?
My boss is the exact opposite. We can take up to 16 weeks (not all paid, it's 8 weeks full paid, 5-6 weeks of STD plus the rest unpaid) but I'm taking 13 total....and he keeps trying to encourage me to take all 16. He used to be a real jackass to people taking time off in his younger career days (according to him) and I think he's trying to make up for it now.
I'm not taking the full 16 because I fully intend on taking a full week off in November and a week and a half in December. He just doesn't know that yet.

You must work with me. I was asked if I planned to take any time off and then asked how much and if I was “allowed” to be out for the entire 12 weeks! Unreal. Susie you have too much on your plate during third tri. I hope they don’t send you work during mat leave. My old form sent me a huge box of work stuff.

i got a similar question - "are you going to take the whole 3 months?" first off, 12 weeks isn't exactly 3 months, and second, have you met a newborn? they are hard work!
The US is so terrible on their views of maternity leave.
I tried to work and leave 2 weeks before my due date here but they were like nope. It’s mandatory to take 4 weeks and highly encouraged because those last 4 weeks, you do not want to be working.
And then when talking about going back to work, my boss was like “I do not recommend working 5 days a week and switching to a 4 day week schedule instead.” This is what most parents do once they have kids here - they take Friday off and work Monday to Thursday and 1-2 days from home.

and yet here I am, 3-4 weeks out from delivering, not only working full time but also evenings and weekends to try to get done what I need to get done before I go out. My body is already so wrecked from sitting at a desk so much when proper ergonomics have gone so far out the window!
